Hey
I'm starting again on 5th Jan, just about to go through recipes and meal plan as for me, when I fail to prepare I prepare to fail!

Mayo isn't quite unlimited, unless you're making your own - there are carbs in it. Check the label on the back of the brand you're using.

LexLoofah · 14/01/2015 17:49

Hi BIWI thanks on the net carbs thing, yes 'twas a US site I was looking at have switched to UK one now - Kale and Collards are in and Artichokes I would say occasionally

Dare I say what I ate yesterday?

B - 2 scrambled eggs with butter + cheese, half an avocado and tea with milk
then a BPC
L- roast beef wrapped in lettuce leaves, goats cheese on cucumber, celery sticks, radish, a couple of small tomatoes, spoonful of boursin, two olives
D - Shrimp baked in garlic butter, courgettes baked with parmesan, roasted mushrooms and kale - after a near miss as DH was cooking and had planned on doing rice .....

readyforno2 · 14/01/2015 20:31

Right. I have put on a pound.
Gonna cut out dairy and considering ubercamp for a couple of weeks.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 14/01/2015 20:55

I'm having a lot of time that i am genuinely not hungry now. Can't believe i have another week (if not three) of forcing three meals a day Grin

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 14/01/2015 21:04

Spotted today that Sainsburys Wild boar sausages have only 1.9 carbs per 100g. That's by far the lowest I've ever seen for a sausage!

Apophenia · 14/01/2015 21:14

Evening All!

Meals for today..

B- cheese and ham omelette
L- cauliflower cheese
D- steak, mushrooms, garlic butter, celeriac chips and creamed cabbage.

Stuffed today. Had no cravings but I'm still really tired. I've no energy to run. Hmm

SunshineAndShadows · 14/01/2015 21:32

Sorry if missed it - what's BPC?

BIWI · 14/01/2015 21:44

BPC = bullet proof coffee. A gruesome-sounding mix of coffee, butter and coconut oil, I think!

LexLoofah · 14/01/2015 21:47

Sunshine BPC is bulletproof coffee, sometimes called buttered coffee

I do a cafetiere coffee then blend with a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of grass fed butter. It goes creamy and not at all greasy. Supposed to have various health benefits not least the fat needed on a low carb diet and the good stuff from the coconut oil and butter but the big thing for me is that it is really filling so can keep me going until lunchtime. I am not a coffee drinker normally and I prefer this to a regular coffee and it stops me from having more tea with milk ... and a biscuit.

BIWI · 14/01/2015 21:47

These sausages are only 1g carb per 100g

There are 6 sausages in a pack, and the total weight is 400g, so each sausage is less than 1g carbs.

They're expensive, but they are really tasty.

graduatedbob · 14/01/2015 22:24

I felt really dodgy today. My heart was racing and my vision was blurry. I might go and see the doctor tomorrow to be on the safe side but Dr Google tells me it may have something to do with electrolyte balance, particularly potassium. I wonder if I have been drinking too much water due to terrible breath. Had some avocado and spinach and a couple of Oxford /bouillon drinks and feel OK now.

BIWI · 14/01/2015 22:28

graduated - that doesn't sound good at all!

What have you been eating? List out for me the last few days of food and drink.

Also, whilst drinking lots of water is important on low carbing, it's also really important to keep your electrolytes in balance - which means sufficient sodium, magnesium and potassium.

So - you need salt. Oxo/Bovril/Marmite in boiling water to drink will help, along with cooking with salt and adding it to your food. And salmon, avocado, spinach and natural full fat yoghurt.

graduatedbob · 14/01/2015 23:48

BIWI Today I had:

B - spinach with scrambled eggs in a bit of cream and lots of butter. Cup of tea with a bit of cream.
L-bolognese sauce and courgette in butter. Drink green tea.
D-roasted chicken thigh with spinach and a few cherry tomatoes with mayo.

When I felt dodgy I also ate an avocado and had some ff Greek yoghurt and a drink of veg bouillon.

BIWI · 15/01/2015 07:38

How much salt are you eating would you say?

You could also try using Lo-Salt, which is a good source of potassium.

And you say you're drinking lots of water, but how much is that?

But looking at your day, could it also be that you're not eating enough? One roasted chicken thigh is not very much!

antimatter · 15/01/2015 07:48

graduate - I had terrible migraines when drinking to much water (over 3 l a day) during my first low-carb camp
this is what I did:
1/ stopped drinking filtered water
2/ started drinking mineral bottled water (not table or spring!)
3/ if I felt unwell - I had a glass of water with a sachet of rehydrating powder (Superdrug has them cheapest I think)
If you do just point 3 - you should feel better straight away

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 15/01/2015 09:39

I've only just got up, so having a bpc for breakfast as will be having lunch in about 2 hours!

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 15/01/2015 10:25

We have rolled breast of lamb for dinner today, its slow cooking away nicely. Was less than £4 in aldi this week :)

graduatedbob · 15/01/2015 12:15

Thanks for advice BIWI and antimatter. I had an avocado (and scrambled eggs) for breakfast and have got hold of some lo salt and am feeling better.

BIWI to answer your questions I probably drink about 3-4 l of water a day - but I have always drunk this much. I have been putting salt on all my meals and having bouillon drinks. I had more than one chicken thigh as was nibbling as I was preparing.
I really don't want to have to stop boot camp (before it's even started!) I love the food and a quick peek at the scales suggests I am down 2lbs so 9lbs off in two weeks.

BIWI · 15/01/2015 12:28

Wow! That's great progress! Just don't overdo it, and if you're really feeling crap, try eating some carbs, to see if that's the issue. It may be that it's time for you to relax things a bit and go onto Bootcamp Light anyway, so you can increase your carb intake slightly

miffy49 · 15/01/2015 12:33

If you're using rehydration powders do check that its one that doesn't have sugar. They are intended for people who have tummy troubles so many have sugar as well as the various electrolytes. I think some of the more expensive sports versions are OK so a bit of label checking is needed. Smile

Beyond our Aldi breast of lamb joints were shocking! Really bad quality. We had been having the rolled shoulder that was on before Christmas and it was lovely but the breast joints were awful so stayed on the shelf. I was disappointed. Maybe the best had been picked out when I got there as they were very busy. I know its a naturally fatty cut but you do expect a bit of meat with the fat! I did a big leg of lamb at Christmas and wished I just roasted several of the Aldi shoulders. The lean leg meat seemed hard and lacking in flavour despite paying a small fortune!

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 15/01/2015 15:01

It looks okay atm, there is meat on it. Will see later i guess.

Shopping came and dont have enough space in the fridge (tortoise still hibernating...) so we're now having a bit of a 'mixed grill' with pork chops and chicken thighs Grin
