Eeek! I'm not stepping on the scales this morning, so will not be confessing all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Family wedding this weekend, and no control over food means I really don't want to see what number is on the scales!

Anyway, don't forget there's also the Weight Tracker

Here's to a successful week for all of us. Hopefully those who have seen things slow down/stop will see the scales begin to move again from now on.

It wasn't that I didn't enjoy the chicken pizza Sarya, it's more than I was disappointed it wasn't more pizza-y IYSWIM. It tasted like a chicken breast that's been topped with tomato and cheese, rather than a pizza. I think I was expecting miracles Grin.

I think I'll stick to the cauli base for my pizza fix and have this as a non-pizza related meal to stave off future disappointment.

Dying to try the coconut porridge though.

Jocastafantastica · 29/10/2014 10:57

excuse the late check in, I'm still here! Another pound down on the spreadsheet, 7lb in total really pleased.
I don't log my foods here as I am probably not being as strict as I should but I am following a combination of bootcamp/bootcamp lite in my own way and it is working for me.
I love to read everyone else's stories and find them very inspiring, as someone said it is like a slimming group we don't have to pay for or physically attend, what's not to like!
Keep going everyone, those christmas dresses are just around the corner Smile

' “I think you have about 16 hours of optimal functioning before the brain needs to go offline and sleep,” he said. “If you go beyond these 16 hours into the realm of sleep deprivation, then those brain networks start to break down and become dysfunctional.” '

Well this quote makes a lot of sense and no wonder yesterday was so hard (had done a 23hr day the day before).

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/10/2014 12:16

Thanks for the link BIWI

trashcanjunkie · 29/10/2014 13:21

Hey thanks you guys Grin I had a lateral ligament reconstruction - I'm in a cast on bed rest with the leg elevated above my hip. I'm struggling for inspiration for what to eat while I'm in this state. Dp is at work 8.30 til 5 but will cook anything I ask. I've been living on scrambled eggs, salaminis, egg mayo, tuna mayo with salad through the day and he'll cook a meat/two lc veg type dinner, which is lovely, but I would love a bit of something different. I can't do dairy because I'm intolerant now, after that bloody bout of food poisoning I had last bc, but any suggestions that a slightly fuckwitty dp (probably due to exhaustion) can rustle up would be greatly appreciated.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/10/2014 15:03

Buttered leeks are easy and nice and quick, additionally rather yummy. There are lots of versions some add cream, some don't. My version is chop lots of leeks, melt a ton of butter, gently cook leeks in butter with a bit of salt and pepper. I always make loads as i will cool and store some in the fridge for making posh scrambled eggs, omlettes, base for other meaty based foods.

I found some tinned smoked mackrel, it was yummy and easy for a cba kinda thing. Not an all the time thing as it is processed but for a tea it made me happy.

Will have a think see if I can come up with any ideas. Off to get a slow cooker later. Also rather excited about this. Hmm

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 29/10/2014 15:08

trash for the evening, burger with mayo mixed with harrisa. Salad on the side-
Could he do a grated salad? Grate swede, cauli and courgette coarsely and have with a red wine vinaigrette? It seems to last a while in the fridge and can be fried up with eggs to use up leftovers.

(I'm sure better ideas will turn up soon. I've no idea about packed lunches - I have tuna/mackerel / chicken or egg salads with avocado to bulk it out and it's a bit dull.)

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/10/2014 15:11

Hmm Ok, just done something very scary. Been through my meds and realised that the amount of sugars, sweetners, starch and celluose in them is rather high. Can't not take them, there aren't really any options to change them. So any ideas how I can limit the impact of this? Do i need to lower the acceptable carb limit / day when I get to the maintaince side of things?

miffy49 · 29/10/2014 15:40

I don't think the amounts that are actually in a day's supply of tablets would be enough to derail an otherwise healthy plan. Anyway, its about priorities isn't it? Take your meds and just adjust your other intake until you maintain.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 29/10/2014 16:47

I'm not even looking at mine! I've managed to drop the movicol already though :)

trashcanjunkie · 29/10/2014 16:59

i'm in denial about the amount of sugar in oramorph, but it's a short term thing....

Liveinthepresent · 29/10/2014 17:13

Hello all am still here ! Slightly lost track of the thread this week and only managed to weigh this morning.
I am astounded and delighted to report the scales say I have whooshed away another 3lbs.Grin so that's 9 altogether. I have broken in to the next stone at last too.
I jumped off very quickly with that reading as had honestly convinced myself it might be another STS week.
I haven't actually updated the spreadsheet as iPad won't let me so will try to do later.
Needless to say am feeling very motivated and looking forward to a treat dinner of sirloin steak with mushrooms, spinach and celeriac chips tonight - yum!
Well done to everyone else who is sticking with it.

prettybird · 29/10/2014 17:46

Meant to mention that I made neep (swede) dauphinois on Monday night to go with roast chicken. It was yummy and the leftovers were very nice cold for lunch the footing day Smile

My whoosh doesn't seem to be an aberration Smile - last couple of days scales have shown 10st 13 3/4lb. That's the incentive to keep to this WoE - so that next Monday I can legitimately post that I've broken back Blush into the 10stone somethings.... Grin

BestIsWest · 29/10/2014 18:04

Well done both on breaking into the next stone down. I am hovering 1 lb above the next stone down and determined to do it this week.

I really struggle with the water. I hate the taste And I don't really like cold drinks unless it's really hot or they are alcoholic so I try and make it up with decaff weak tea. This week I am really trying hard with it and have bought myself a beautiful new half pint glass.

Trash that sounds painful. I've had quite a few foot and ankle problems mysel so you have all my sympathy. Healing is a tiring process.

Notsoskinnyminny · 29/10/2014 18:05

Trash I did chilli last night, all the other things I can think of are full of cream and/or cheese

pack of mince
chopped onion
2 chopped chillies
1 tsp easy garlic
1 tbs coriander, cumin, oregano
carton of passata and squirt of tom puree

Soften the onions, chuck in the chillies and garlic, brown the mince, add the spices and passata, bring to the boil then simmer for 45 mins or do what I do and chuck it in the slow cooker on low until we were ready to eat. For rice I whizzed 1/2 a cauli and 1/2 a punnet of chesnut mushrooms in the processor and fried them in loads of butter.

For everyone else I usually put a cubed block of mozarella in when it goes in the slow cooker to increase the fat content but didn't have any in so added a handful of grated cheese to mine.

Another non-dairy staple is a variation of the pork carnitas

pork shoulder cubed and browned
1 leek or a couple of shallots thinly sliced and softened
chuck into slow cooker
add 1tbs cumin and paprika and the juice of 1 lime + the zest if you can be arsed losing your fingertips on the grater, give it a stir and leave overnight. In the morning add a carton of passata, give it another stir, and cook on low. When you're ready to eat just pull the chunks apart with 2 forks. Its even nicer cold the next day.

For veg what about chunks of peppers, courgettes, mushrooms and onions roasted in olive oil with garlic and cumin seeds, the leftovers are nice cold as well if you fancy a change from salads.

Another solution is to demand that the crabster becomes your personal cook and nurse until you're up and about Grin

BiWitched · 29/10/2014 19:17

If you're still thirsty, despite drinking loads of water, it's a sign, apparently, that you need more salt. Sodium is a really important electrolyte, so cook with it, add it to your food.

readyforno2 · 29/10/2014 19:34

Wow prettybird what a great idea with the neep dauphinois, can't wait to try it.

I've been pretty bad at keeping up with the thread, been super busy with work, wedding stuff and to top it all off the dc haven't been 100%
Got my hen weekend this weekend. I have no idea what they have planned Confused
I plan to stay as low carb as possible, but will be drinking. Wish me luck!

ClashCityRocker · 29/10/2014 20:58

Dauphinoise neeps sound lovely, going to give that a bash.

readyforno have a great time at your hen weekend!

Turned down dps offer to take me out for fish and chips tonight Hmm and had poached eggs with ham and mushrooms for tea instead.

I married a git.

ClashCityRocker · 29/10/2014 20:59

DH, not DP

BeyondPreparedForHell · 29/10/2014 21:11

That dauphinoise really does sound gorgeous

Best, i seem to find it much easier to keep a 1l bottle of water with me with a sports top. I have a slurp every so often and it disappears so fast, whereas i struggle so much more if i drink from glasses. Still finding i'm really thirsty so could maybe do with upping salt.

Worried that would affect my dysautonomia diagnosis though, as increased salt is a suggested treatment, but i was told not to up it until the cause of my fainting is official, cause it can then hide it. Hmm. Might have to run that by the experts...

Hobbes8 · 29/10/2014 21:48

Well I had a frankly terrible weekend food-wise away from home with lots of socialising. But I've been strict the past few days and I've lost the couple of pounds I gained and I'm down a further pound. Phew! I'm trying not to beat myself up over it - I had a great time anyway. It's a shame there aren't more low carb socialising options, seeing as the food is pretty delicious.

Today's food:
B: frittata with courgette mushroom and leek
L: a sort of tuna Nicose - tuna, anchovies, olives, capers, hard boiled egg and mayo on top of salad
D: shepherds pie with celeriac and cauli topping
Also a glass of wine.

The tuna was lovely and I've got some left to take to work tomorrow. I think the frittata is better than yogurt for breakfast as well, so I need to get organised and make sure there's some in the fridge for my work days.

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 29/10/2014 21:54

Have a great time, readyforno2!

I have just had a great run and I'm finally getting a bit less tired at last. I've stopped counting what I'm eating and... I've stopped daily weighing. If I weigh daily, I analyse what I'm eating daily, the result of which is too much angst! So I'm just keeping on.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 30/10/2014 00:26

Grin Notso

MrsKoala · 30/10/2014 04:24

Neep dauphinoise sounds lovely. defo on my list for this weekend. I'm staying at my parents at the moment and getting lots of Hmm faces when i prepare food. I fried pork chops in butter and made a sauce with butter, shallots, mushrooms, garlic and cream for dinner and ate all the fat and mum was watching, gasping, saying 'i thought you wanted to lose weight'. I tried to explain the diet but she wasn't having any of it Grin

B - 3 egg omelette, butter, spinach, mushrooms
L - baked ratatouille and feta cheese
Snack - 2 gherkins and 2 slices of ham
D - pork chops, shallots, mushrooms, garlic, cream, cauli & broccoli

Thanks for the tip on water/salt BIWI, i have been craving salt also, so will add some (never used it much before). What i really want is salted nuts for some reason.

HauntedChesterDrawers · 30/10/2014 08:07

I know I shouldn't have but I got on the scales this morning and am half an lb up on Monday's weight. Why is my weight loss so slow? It's not fair, I am being so good.

I'm not giving up though, for some reason this feels right, even though the stupid scales seem to have it in for me and the bloody Whoosh Fairy keeps missing me off her rounds.

Today looks like this:

B: Eggs, a little cream, butter
L: Home-made mushroom soup
D: Home-made donner kebab, salad, tzatziki, maybe swede chips if I can be arsed

Three litres of water will be consumed and I've got a kettlebells class later too.
