Welcome everyone! I'm starting the thread early because I have to be up and out of the house at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your starting weight

If you don't want to put your weight on the public spreadsheet, you can enter it on the weight tracker. (This probably won't be available until tomorrow morning)

If you've joined up very recently, and your name isn't on the spreadsheet, just add it on at the bottom - the very lovely SayraT will re-alphabetize everything later.

As an aside about dairy, since cutting down on dairy and in particular milk, I noticed a decrease in nasal congestion. I still have milk in tea and I eat yoghurt for breakfast most days and cheese every so often so I didn't need to cut it out completely to see a benefit. I suspect milk is a problem for me and I used to drink milk every day so I never would have known if I hadn't cut down on it through Bootcamp. Interestingly two of my children have cows milk protein allergy so it seems quite likely there is a family problem with dairy.

HRH008isback · 03/10/2014 08:10

ready you are an inspiration!
And gointothewoods so are you!
4lb down so far... Duty visit to the Oktoberfest on Sunday (live in Munich) and i am working on ways to eat/drink as low carb as humanly possible! If you can avoid cake at a birthday party, then i can do Wiesn' without falling off the wagon.

Pisseslikeahorse · 03/10/2014 08:12

Well done ready excellent loss.

readyforno2 · 03/10/2014 09:04

Thanks everyone. It means a lot Smile. Sorry about my moaning yesterday.. All about positivity!!

BiggerYellowTaxi · 03/10/2014 09:18

ready you've done really, really well!

I'm down 5lbs Shock

I had my first real test yesterday, I had coffee at a friend's and she had bought cakes but I declined politely and didn't even feel tempted, well only slightly Wink

I think this is the plan for today:

B- omelette with spinach and butter, maybe a bit of feta
L- chicken thigh and salad with mayo
D- Panfried salmon with spinach and broccoli.

MyDirtyHarry · 03/10/2014 09:38

Yesterday:
B - none
L - chunky pastrami, mayo, lettuce
D - frittata with shallots, cabbage, bacon
S - chunky ham

I'm going to have to try and fit breakfast in, the thought of it makes me feel so sick though and I have zero time. I've run out of butter Shock and not had a chance to go to shop, I really noticed yesterday when I didn't have my butter coffee that I got hungry, especially as I didn't have lunch til gone 2.30pm due to stupid work stuff. Today my boss is taking me to lunch after a stressy morning meeting, I will try to choose as well as I can, I'm getting pretty good at navigating menus.

Scales aren't doing much but I have faith

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2014 10:32

I had a meeting last night 8-10.30 of the committee of a club that I belong to. I ate beforehand. The host provided baked potatoes, tuna and sweetcorn, salad etc, then cakes afterwards.
I drank water, one coffee, had a couple of cherry tomatoes and that was it. I didn't feel deprived at all.

PrimalLass · 03/10/2014 10:47

Hi everyone
Away for the weekend, so probably won't be posting, so good luck everyone – know weekends can often be tough.
We've got dinner out on Sat eve so will try to swap spuds for salads and stay on the straight and narrow.
Pleased with how it's been going this week though I know I've got to drink more water! Any tips gratefully received (big problem is not being able to take water into research library when I'm sometimes there for long, long days twice a week...)
V impressed with your 6 stone loss BTW ready
Sorry not done much in the way of chat yet (ie just doing my shouting shit) but good to read everyone's recipes and thoughts!
Today: Coffee with cream (I know, I know, BIWI, should be eating something more substantial but out so early again and can't manage anything until 10/11ish
Brunch/Snack: Ham/ff philly wraps
L: tuna and mayo lettuce wraps (with bit of chopped up celery and radishes)
D: not sure yet, poss chicken curry with cauli rice

aNoteToFollowSo · 03/10/2014 12:03

Hello everyone, and congratulations to the losers - especially ready!

I dropped two pounds in the first two days and the scales haven't moved since, either up or down. So I am assuming that first loss was largely water, and am hoping that fat will follow soon.

But I am feeling fantastic! I think I have the opposite of carb flu. Firstly I feel leaner and lighter. But my joints move more easily (jeez I sound like a crock) and I was full of energy at gym today. I just feel good! I don't know if it's the absence of sugar or the increased hydration or the vast levels of high fat but my body is responding so well to this diet.

No brekkie because of the way the day worked out.

Early lunch (I am an hour ahead of you all) was mushrooms in butter and cream sauce with smoked mackerel on the side. Utterly delish. How will I ever go back to no cream once I let the carbs in??

I'm also loving reading the menus and your reports of how it's going. I couldn't do this alone.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 03/10/2014 12:28

Hi everyone

I've lost 3 pounds since Monday so I'm pretty pleased with that Grin although I do feel a bit grim and headachey today not sure if its carb flu or down to the IVF meds

Breakfast was a lidl ff greek yogurt with cinnamon and a black coffee
Lunch was a streaky bacon and mushroom omelette with 2 eggs, cream and a little grated mozzarella

Making a conscious effort today to up my fluid intake as I quite often struggle to drink enough water - currently on my 3rd pint!

I presume its ok to take paracetamol for the headaches?

PrimalLass · 03/10/2014 12:48

YoureMyWifeNowDave I'm feeling pretty carb fluey today too. That's a good thing, right? Means it's working.

My kidneys felt a bit achy today too. I've had three pints of water to sort it out.

Down 0.5 today, so 3.5 in total. I have a tricky evening ahead as at a school thing so will need wine. I don't thing they do spirits. I'll have red as I don't like it as much so will stick at one.

PrimalLass · 03/10/2014 12:50

Actually, wine isn't as bad as I thought so I won't panic.

ClashCityRocker · 03/10/2014 12:59

Well, I'm all revved up for an alcohol free weekend - I think.

It will be interesting to see over the next couple of weeks how the lack of alcohol will impact - I think it will be the first time in aaaaages since I've had a sustained period without any alcohol at all.

Oh crumbs, that makes me sound like a right alcoholic! I'm not really a big drinker, just a couple of glasses a couple of nights a week and a bottle at weekends

Anyway, todays menu is:

B - Scrambled Egg
L - Cheese wrapped in ham
T - Gammon with mushrooms and cauli cheese
S - Kale crisps

I'm sick of eggs now though!!! Will have to get thinking of replacement breakfasts that are quick. What sort of yoghurt is OK?

SixImpossible · 03/10/2014 13:14

Clash, try avocado for breakfast - no prep necessary! You could have it neat, or with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of sea salt, or just a dollop of mayo.

I like to vary my egg breakfasts by frying asparagus or mushrooms or courgettes in loads of butter, before adding the eggs.

Another favourite is sandwich meat (roast beef!) spread with mayo, a small handful of salad leaves (spinach&rocket&watercress) dumped on top, then the meat rolled up tightly around the leaves.

prettybird · 03/10/2014 13:21

Full fat Greek yoghurt is good. Lidl do a big tub that is great value. I have a couple of spoonfuls with a slosh of cream and some cinnamon. Smile

prettybird · 03/10/2014 13:24

I seem to recall that ibuprofen is preferred to paracetamol on this WoE. Can't remember why though.

I too seem to have been going through carb flu: feel like a truck has driven over me and am absolutely shattered. Sad

miffy49 · 03/10/2014 13:39

The carb flu only lasts about 24hrs and then you wake up feeling brilliant with masses of energy.Smile Makes the first few difficult days really worth it.

For those planning the odd glass of wine this weekend, take great care! Alcohol is funny stuff. It doesn't show that high on the carb scale but its processed in a particular way by your liver and it can undo a lot of good work. Its worth thinking carefully about what you want most, wine or weight loss! Grin

PrimalLass · 03/10/2014 14:01

Plans have changed now so I won't have to have so much wine Grin just one to get me through the school fayre

readyforno2 · 03/10/2014 14:50

Thanks all Smile
I'm feeling a bit better just now. Handed in all the legal paperwork today for the wedding. All very real now!!

Have just done a pt session alongside another personal trainer. Stupidly thought I could (try to) keep up with her but regretting it now.

So far I've eaten
B - mushrooms in butter, scrambled eggs and lc sausage
L - salad with cold meat

5 pints of water

Liveinthepresent · 03/10/2014 15:07

Hello all sorry i didnt reply to the kind PP who asked me to list my menus to see why my jeans felt so tight yesterday - I have been hit by carb flu big time and was up half the night with DS - feel really terrible.
Any advice ? I will see if we have painkillers if thats allowed and I keep drinking more water but maybe i just have to cope if its a 24 hour thing.
today -
B - bacon and one boiled egg
L - smoked mackerel salad with avocado
D - something with mince a sort of mock chilli with lots of veg i think

Does this sound ok? If i don't lose much this week I will conclude i need more veg and less protein but i don't think i can do any more this week i am feeling really hungry (probably due to previous greed!)

on a more positive note - DH reported that his shirt collar was much looser today - first time he has worn a suit since we started.

BestIsWest · 03/10/2014 15:25

I am so thirsty today. Went to a concert last night and sang my heart out. Then breakfast in the hotel where I ate 6 rashers of bacon and 2 eggs.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/10/2014 15:28

Well I have been surrounded by cake and haven't had any

**

Had a houseful of FABULOUS folk from Woolly Hugs helping sew on labels, twas a huge job, and they were awesome.

But there is still cake here

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2014 15:40

Live it looks like you're maybe not having enough fat. Cook in butter, add butter, have mayo, dressings etc. And yes, drink lots of water!
