Welcome everyone! I'm starting the thread early because I have to be up and out of the house at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your starting weight

If you don't want to put your weight on the public spreadsheet, you can enter it on the weight tracker. (This probably won't be available until tomorrow morning)

If you've joined up very recently, and your name isn't on the spreadsheet, just add it on at the bottom - the very lovely SayraT will re-alphabetize everything later.

From my reading about LCHF diets (sorry, but I can't remember where I read this), my understanding is that you should never allow yourself to feel either ravenous or stuffed. If you are hungry, you should eat something, even between meals. Similarly, if you have had enough, you should stop eating, even if you have not finished your portion. What's your opinion, BIWI?

Something that I have learned about between-meals hunger through personal experience is not to assume it is hunger. If I'm peckish, first I have a drink. If I'm still peckish, I have a snack. If I'm still peckish, then it was not food hunger in the first place. It was sadness, or boredom, or avoidance, etc. I need to work out what in really 'hungry' for, and deal with it.

kukesi · 01/10/2014 23:14

B-Coffee and cream (no actual food today, but have been low carbing for a few months)
L- mahoosive salad with garlic and spicy oil and prawns- was delish, went to Brothers restaurant, and he made me up a meal off menu with what I could eat, it also helped that it looked amazeballs
D- Chicken and salad- sounds boring, but was more swosh than just that, and was lush

Water- Shite! Out of the office most of the day, didn't drink as not near loos.
Avoided- sympathy carbs (cakes and biccies) and holiday chocs

googoogoggles · 02/10/2014 00:29

Some great ideas for meals on here...
Today:
B Coffee with cream x2
Ham spread with bit of FF Philly
L Smoked bacon bits with lots of spinach and a couple of spring onions
D Lamb (shoulder), mashed swede with butter, broccolli
Not quite enough water... must do better tomorrow

DharmaBums · 02/10/2014 02:09

Can I join please? Just added my name to spreadsheet so hope it works. First time after 2nd baby for low-carbing for me, so I need to brush up on what to eat again. Complication is we've just moved to USA so things will be a bit different. Looking forward to all the lovely support and ideas on here.

BIWI · 02/10/2014 06:40

SixImpossible - yes absolutely. Whilst this WOE is not about deprivation, nor is it about greed!

Welcome, Dhama!

Delighted to report another 1.5lbs off this morning, so I'm 3lbs down already this week, after only 3 days. I love this 'diet'!

Morning all. Was so excited about my 2-pound loss yesterday that I leapt to the scales this morning. Down about half a gram…sigh. Think I was hoping to be down 2 pounds every time I go on the scale. I am going to go back to weekly weighing now. Suspect it fits my mindset better.

I'm still amazed at how un-hungry I am on this WOE. Last night I couldn't really face supper I was so full and trust me, that is not my usual style. But I must say, I did wake up today longing for fruit, fruit, fruit. I'm going to cram in as much veg as possible today - my excitement at all that protein and fat is waning a little. Still, it's an apple and grapefruit I'm longing for rathe than chocolate and that's a big step forward for me.

Couldn't face my usual eggie brekkie (those three boiled eggs yesterday did for me. Never again). So:

B:a whole avocado, with lemon and black pepper. Tea with f/c milk.

Hope the lemon and milk wont make that too carby?

Thanks again BIWI, Crabby, Sayra and all of you who make this thread possible. I simply couldn't do this without you all there. Three whole days so far without any processed sugar. That may not sound like much but I honestly think that's a first for me.

And congrats on the new addition to the family Clash.

aNoteToFollowSo · 02/10/2014 07:15

Posted too soon - and BIWI congrats on that weight loss! This 'diet' is pretty amazing.

andsmile · 02/10/2014 07:28

Morning, is it too late to join? I did weigh myself yesterday.

Im currently on a major health drive but I dont think my diet is where it should be. So far I have cut out wine/sweets/chocolate and just been eating smaller portions. I have had some small losses that last few weeks.

I want to try this but ive gotta say when I looked at the list of all the 'no carbs' I thought what the hell can I eat and what will I cook my family? - We normally all the eat the same.

BetterTogether · 02/10/2014 07:38

Morning everyone!

Well done BIWI Smile I love this diet too, so glad to be back on it!

Breakfast this morning was a couple of re-fried pork belly slices (roasted them like normal for dinner last night, then I pan fry the leftovers with coconut oil to reheat - makes them all crispy, yum!)

Lunch will be at work - egg mayonnaise, smoked salmon & cucumber.

Not sure about dinner as I'm still waiting to hear whether I have extra family members eating with us this evening! DD doesn't get home til 7.15pm on Thursdays so if it is just the 3 of us I will do the DC something easy and I have plenty of nibbly options in the fridge, plus the last of the leftover lamb and some broccoli to use up.
Need to think of a back up option if I need to cook a proper meal though!

Can I just check that fruit teas are ok? I'm normally a 6+ cups of coffee a day gal, but I've managed to reduce that which is great...but then yesterday I had 3x cups of Taylors sweet rhubarb tea. No carbs as far as I can tell, but I do worry I'm using it as a sweet crutch... Better than the chocolate I would previously have reached for, but possibly not great when retraining my taste buds? Early morning ramble alert haha!

PrimalLass · 02/10/2014 07:43

Well done Biwi. I'm down another one, for a 3lb loss. I think I smell ketoney today (good for me, not for others Grin)

Hello andsmile

B: streaky bacon, and scrambled eggs cooked in the bacon fat
L: bacon and cauli soup
D: spag bol baked in peppers with mozzarella (have been trying to have this all week but had bol with courgetti instead last night), feta salad.

Tonight I usually have a couple of glasses of wine with my Mum but will have a s/l G&T instead. Naughty, but better than wine.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/10/2014 07:50

Morning all Brew

ChesterDrawers · 02/10/2014 08:02

I had a mad dream last night that bootcamp consisted of us all being locked away in a house for 10 weeks and shouted at periodically by a scary stick-wielding BIWI! It was a bit like Big Brother meets the Biggest Loser, everyone was trying to sneak in carby snacks but BIWI foiled us every time. Might be something to think about for the next bootcamp, cos it was certainly having an affect on us all last night Grin

So today:

B: scrambled eggs, bit of cream, butter when I CBA to walk to microwave on two floors up
L: Tuna salad, olive oil
D: Slow cooked chicken legs, courgette fritters, roast broccoli

Got kettlebells class later, just hoping it's better than last time when I seriously thought I might not make it!

CrabbyTheCrabster · 02/10/2014 09:19

Welcome andsmile. What do you mean by 'list of no carbs'? This isn't a no carb diet but a low carb way of eating. Do you mean the list of veg? What sort of things do you and your family normally eat? Many people adapt the normal family meals so that they have what everyone else is having but with extra veg instead of potatoes/rice/pasta or whatever.

Notso I'm making my chicken curry today, funnily enough. Looking forward to it already... Smile

Food yesterday...
L - crustless quiche
D - celeriac dolphin pose with black farmer sausages and broccoli.

Today will be...
L - avocado with something, probably prawns
D - kashmiri butter chicken with spiced cauliflower, mushrooms and creamed spinach.

Liveinthepresent · 02/10/2014 10:26

Morning all
Feel a bit despondent today- not been on scales but my jeans feel considerably tighter. I don't feel bloated in fact i was hoping my jeans would feel a bit looser! so am worrying that I am doing something wrong. Confused

PseudoBadger · 02/10/2014 10:35

Do you want to list out your food Liveinthepresent?

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 02/10/2014 10:41

ChesterDrawers Grin I have long come to the conclusion that the minds of mnners are scary places. That really made me smile this morning Grin

ClashCityRocker · 02/10/2014 12:23

3lb loss! And my trousers are feeling looser, I think because I'm less bloated - I certainly feel less bloated.

So, today's menu:

B - Chorizo and boiled egg.
L - Two-Egg Omlette
T - Not sure yet, either gammon with mushrooms and cauli cheese or fish with broccoli and kale.

Definitely going to try that Kashmiri butter chicken.

miffy49 · 02/10/2014 12:32

andsmile It adapts quite well once you get into it. I've been low carb ages whilst DH & DS are staunch Slimming World which is very carb heavy. I just cook pretty normal meals and then increase the fat on mine and leave off the spuds/pasta. They were months and never noticed! I feel very smug at times when I add a nice knob of garlic butter to my veg. It would be even easier with a family that eat pretty normal meals and aren't following a low fat plan. There are even one or two of the gang whose spouses report 'loss of weight by association'! Grin

Hobbes8 · 02/10/2014 12:34

Despite my slightly wobbly start, I'm 2lb down this morning - hooray! Are there any drawbacks to continuing the first stage of boot camp past the first 2 weeks? I'd like to add on a few more days as it's taken me a few days to get into the swing of it.

Today's eats:
B: Greek yogurt
L: big salad with bacon, chicken, olives and avocado. I need to investigate some salad dressings as I usually have balsamic or honey and mustard, both of which are out.
D: will be salmon with courgette noodles and a cream cheese sauce, I think.

Citrasun · 02/10/2014 13:03

I've lost 2lbs already & my stomach is noticeably flatter.
I'm eating scrambled eggs & butter for breakfasts & enjoy feeling full 'til lunchtime.

Just had cauliflower cheese (made with cream, greek yoghurt & cheese for lunch and will have aubergine tomatoey bake thing with chicken for dinner.

trashcanjunkie · 02/10/2014 13:09

Afternoon all!

I have slept in superbly, so am going to have breakfast now, quickly before I rush out to work - it's leftover bolognese sauce (homemade with only a sniff of tomato to keep carbs low, plus tons of butter) with slow roasted veg - courgettes and yellow peppers and mushrooms.

I'm aching all over from training yesterday. I squatted 40kg...

My weight always goes up slightly the day after I train. I think this is down to fluid retention on my very sore muscles... does anyone else have this?

ChesterDrawers · 02/10/2014 13:13

I get that too sometimes Trashy. I always put it down to fluid too. Trying to stay away from the scales at the min though as fluctuations get me down make me eat crisps.

Dying to see how much I've lost so far though so might not be able to hang on til Monday.

Username12345 · 02/10/2014 13:14

Congrats ClashCity, Citrasun and Hobbes on the losses. I daren't weigh myself until Monday Grin

andsmile · 02/10/2014 13:24

Thanks for the welcomes

crabby I mean the list that says no pasta, bread, potatoes - I eat these everyday it just seems a lot to cut out all at once - but I need to do something. I cook from scratch most nights and have cut out processed foods and takeaways. Except one night per week (normally friday) where we have things lke pizzas/burgers/hotdogs - these are shop bought as it is my night off from 'cooking'

miffy49 yes thats what I wanted to hear really - typical list of meals for our family is:

Curry - basic and fancy version
Chillie/Spag Bol
Shepherd pie
Chicken/beef/lamb casserole
Batter Cod
Spag Carbonara
Enchiladas/Fajitas
Sometimes sausages because these are processed but I buy v good ones
Breakfasts - eggs on toast/porridge/yoghurt and fruit/wholmeal veg pancakes/beans on toast.

Im just cooking a whole chicken in slow cooker with pots.... but have lots of greens to go with - luffs a wedge of butter on cabbage!

Littlepinkpear · 02/10/2014 13:44

Wow 3lbs off in 3 days! I feel great, I thought it would be tough but I've done a monster shop, got lots of nice things in the fridge and I'm eating.

Weirdly my latte and cake a day habit I have not craved once.

Best bit? I feel much slimmer as the bloated muffin top has pretty much disappeared.

Stay on the wagon. Stay on the wagon. Stay on the wagon Grin
