Welcome everyone! I'm starting the thread early because I have to be up and out of the house at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your starting weight

If you don't want to put your weight on the public spreadsheet, you can enter it on the weight tracker. (This probably won't be available until tomorrow morning)

If you've joined up very recently, and your name isn't on the spreadsheet, just add it on at the bottom - the very lovely SayraT will re-alphabetize everything later.

Day three going well for me too, I am finding the water drinking much easier this time. It is what always slips for me when I don't concentrate on it, so I am filling a 2L bottle at the beginning of the day and making sure I get through it, plus various teas and the odd black coffee.

BIWI · 01/10/2014 19:33

Figrus - if you're bloated, you need to drink (even more!) water.

Doesn't sound like you're eating much, or much fat - what was in your stir-fry?

Hi all! Shouting my shit again!

B BPC and Greek yoghurt
D mozzarella and green leaf salad
T fried steak and (a lot) roast cauli cheese.

Almost done with my water. Tomorrow will see less dairy just in case.

SixImpossible · 01/10/2014 20:09

Two delicious discoveries to share:

Kale fried in butter until just wilted. O.M.G. so delicious! I just had kale & mushroom scrambled eggs with a pinch of Fleur de Sel. And a pint of water.

Sacla pestos and stir-in sauces. Many of them are 3-4% carbs, and very tasty. A tablespoonful added to anything (tuna mayo/scrambled eggs/coconut soup) adds a woomf of flavour.

CharlieSierra · 01/10/2014 20:09

I just made those meatballs, bloody lovely. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

B - Greek yogurt - need to deal with breakfast now I can't have berries/nuts
L - tuna + green salad
D - moussaka meatballs, griddles aubergines + courgettes, Greek yogurt with garlic, mint, dill

Day 3 has been pretty good. It's a revelation to me what a difference it makes to eat fat. I'm just not getting hungry.

Was at a sushi bar for supper, and firstly I wasn't hungry and secondly I wasn't sure what was BC friendly. So I opted for Miso soup with tofu. Does it meet BC rules?

Thanks Crabby for that cauliflower cheese recipe. Will try tomorrow.

B: three boiled eggs. Urgh. Never again.
L: chicken curry with cabbage, mushrooms and baby corn. Plus tin of tomatoes in the curry.
D: Miso soup

W: 2L

I'm not sure I should be watching Great British Bake Off...

Today:

B - two boiled eggs
L - tuna melt (concocted for the microwave at work!)
D - pan-fried duck breast, griddled asparagus with Parmesan shavings, braised red cabbage with onion and raspberry vinegar

Gallons of water (already at least 2-3 litres - some of it with a touch of PLJ); 2 cups coffee with milk

OP posts:
BIWI · 01/10/2014 20:33

Tuna Melt

1 tin tuna, in oil
2 spring onions, chopped
double cream
grated mature cheddar
freshly ground black pepper

Drain tuna and mix with spring onion in a bowl
Add a generous sloosh of cream (probably around 3 tablespoons) and a good handful of grated cheese. Season with black pepper and heat on high for 2 minutes. Stir, and allow to cool a little before eating

It was delicious and really hit the spot

Thanks biwi, i stir fried in butter, shallots, bean sprouts, mushrooms and pak choi. I'm not as hungry today. I'm adding salt to everything, maybe too much.

BIWI · 01/10/2014 21:03

One of the advantages about low carbing is that you can eat more salt, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Are you eating enough fat? You're not eating much meat, so you need to keep an eye on that.

I'm off to bed with a woeful headache.
Today's food went well and was tasty!
B: bacon and mushrooms cooked in butter
L: leftover meatloaf, lettuce, cucumber, spring onion, baby tomatoes. Was hungry a couple of hours later so had a LC sausage nabbed from the kid's tea.
D: Roast duck with crispy skin, roasted brussel sprouts with chorizo, shallots and garlic. Very delicious.
About 6 pints of water.
A little "bunged up". Perhaps need more water. [hmmm]
Haven't weighed yet, might do tomorrow, inspiration not to pig out heading into the weekend!

Figrus · 01/10/2014 21:06

Actually i baked the leeks in creme fraiche. But now I've bought double cream and greek yoghurt so can use that.

BIWI · 01/10/2014 21:21

Well everyone seems to be getting on very well! Grin

I think, though, it's time for my lecture about cheating

This WOE is not a forgiving one. It isn't like a low calorie or low fat diet, where one 'good' meal can compensate for one 'bad' one. You have to stick to it all the time. And this is especially true in the first two weeks of Bootcamp, as we switch our bodies from burning carbs to burning fat.

I know, as we head towards the weekend, that it could be more tempting to succumb, but please, please, please don't do it to yourself. All that you will do is to undo all the good work you have done so far this week.

However. There are always going to be times when you find yourself in a situation where carbs are unavoidable. You get invited for dinner, or you have to travel somewhere with work, and only get given sandwiches. On those occasions, you just have to go with the flow, and go into damage limitation immediately afterwards. (By being super vigilant about the carbs, and drinking loads of water.)

But other lapses, where you make the choice to do it - please try not to.

And something else to consider - from experience of other Bootcamp threads, where people have cheated and then come and posted in great detail about their cheats - please remember that this can be very triggering for some people, and it can make it much harder for them

Ultimately, if you cheat, the only person affected will be you. But if you post about it, other people may also be affected.

By all means post that it's happened, but please think very carefully before you post any details.

Tomorrow is going to be tricky for me. Going to a concert with DH then staying in a hotel overnight. We will need to find food in the evening in a place where it is mainly chains, Ask, Carlucios, Las Iguanas etc type places. what's the best of these for Low Carbing? I will be fine with no alcohol.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/10/2014 21:32

I was going to tell you the evils that Pinterest seems to think i need to know about but I think I shall skip that after the excellent reminder from BIWI. Somehow I think unsubscribing to the evil sugar stuff offers that get emailed to me might also be a bonus. Deliberately NOT watching great british bake off. It just wouldn't end well. Especially as I managed to eat less then half of my lunch before I went out and am not starving hungry but can't eat until I have chucked the child into bed.

Does it count as two meals if you end up eating on meal in two sittings?

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/10/2014 21:33

*am now

scousadelic · 01/10/2014 21:37

How can I have had a good breakfast (3 scrambled eggs), a good lunch (large chicken breast and salad) and a good tea (salmon with cauliflower mash and broccoli) and yet be starving??? And yes I have drunk loads of water too, I'm just starving which is odd

BIWI · 01/10/2014 21:41

Probably not enough fat, scouse. Chicken and salmon probably relatively low fat.

Best - don't know about Ask, but Carluccios do a sharing platter/antipasti plate that's pretty good (or they did last time I was there, which was a while ago!). Is Las Iguanas Mexican? If so, probably really difficult! Best thing to do is to go online and look at their menus. And don't be afraid to ask for things without bread/pasta/rice/chips, etc!

OP posts:
BIWI · 01/10/2014 21:42

If you've eaten till you've had enough, and you're no longer hungry, then you've had enough - sometimes that might mean a bigger portion than 'normal' - as long as it's low carb, there's not a problem!

ClashCityRocker · 01/10/2014 22:47

I'm stuffed! Just had chicken with oregano, garlic and chorizo, with a few shallots, courgettes and mixed peppers.

My microwave omlette maker has arrived, so will be omlette for lunch tomorrow.

Water hasn't been great, but I'm going to get another pint in before bed.

On the plus side, since the first day I haven't felt hungry.

Also, my brother and sil had a baby boy yesterday - first child after years of trying! Normally I'm an 'any excuse for a celebration' type of girl but refused champagne (I did have some fizzy water though) and cake. And my new nephew is adorable!
