BIWI I have been thinking about this and I know that my sticking point is going to be a Wednesday when I am out from 3pm-11pm with no chance to grab proper food. I have taken sandwiches/chocolate crepe/pots of porridge/etc but clearly there are all banned. Any ideas what it can be replaced with as I don't have the energy to cook when i get in, and need to eat at set times. I know boot camp hasn't started yet, but my memory of doing this before means that I know the importance of planning ahead and how not doing can scupper you. I suspect i am going to miss hot food on wed nights as there is no cooking/heating facilities, just a kettle and i am currently in the process of dumping the coffee and caffine Any help and advice is appreciated. Flowers

beattiebow · 17/09/2014 09:22

I'm going to sign up too (can someone add me please on my phone?)

But a quick question - I'm going to log my meals on my fitness pal. What is the amount of carbs in g that you should aim to keep below?

Thanks

zgaze · 17/09/2014 09:25

Me too, was on the January one but let it slip somewhat (ahem) over the summer. Can someone add me, ta

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/09/2014 09:43

bitchy on those days can you have a hot lunch and then take a packed lunch in the evening. I have a salad box like this and make salad with lettuce! cucumber and then meats/cheeses/leftovers. I also have one of sistemaplastics.com/products/lunch/1.4l-lunch-cube-coloured these compartment boxes which I sometimes will with bits and pieces - cucumber sticks, celery, cheese, pate, (I spread the pate on celery or cucumber), hard boiled eggs, nuts (when we are allowed them), leftovers etc... Sometimes for me picking at things is better!

BIWI · 17/09/2014 09:47

Salad-type stuff is definitely the way to go! The other thing you could do is to cook up some (low carb) sausages, or roast some chicken thighs, and have those cold the next day.

beattiebow the whole point of Bootcamp is that you don't have to count carbs! Just follow the rules and you'll be fine. (And the reason for that is that everybody has a different level of carbs that works for them, so it's impossible to give a blanket number)

Thanks. I will have a good look at the whole day and tweak it. I think you are both right about switching the day about food wise.

An suggestions as to food that can be kept in the car in case of getting snowed in? It is a real risk in this area, especially with the journeys I have to take.

BIWI · 17/09/2014 10:10

Hard boiled eggs (although don't keep them for too long in the car!!!). I think john west do sachets of tuna. Otherwise I would suggest some packets of nuts. Macadamias are very low carb

OP posts:
BeattieBow · 17/09/2014 10:31

thanks BIWI - I did a low carb day the other day (or at least I thought I did) but I still came up with 40g carbs on myfitness pal so I was a bit mystified. I think my tolerance for carbs is extremely low. but my desire for them is very high.

I do find it difficult to give up my coffee with milk, but couldn't see what else I'd had with carbs in apart from salad and broccoli.

added me to the bottom of the list.

Beattie have you tried almond milk in your coffee? Not 100% sure if it's allowed on bootcamp (please correct me if wrong!) but it's fewer carbs than normal milk. It's lovely too!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 17/09/2014 10:49

Thanks BIWI. I might have to research some vegetable broths too. Something hot when stuck in a cold car is always beneficial.

BIWI · 17/09/2014 11:12

Beattie - if that's all you had then it will be nowhere near 40g carbs! MFP has given people dodgy counts before. Don't forget also that Americans count carbs differently - they include fibre.

OP posts:
BeattieBow · 17/09/2014 12:53

oh ok! Does that mean I need to deduct the "dietary fiber" bit from the carb content on mfp? - so its just the sugars part that I'm looking at? Even so, with 3 coffees today and nothing else it seems that I've had 6g of sugars. That explains why I've not had as much success with low carbing as other people maybe.

Would switching to single cream or almond milk make much difference? I can hopefully give up everything else, but coffee in the morning is a must.

I'm nervous.

I'm a picky eater.

I'm imagining living 10 weeks on eggs Confused

Hello, can i join you all too? I've cut bread out of my diet over the last couple of weeks but have been eating waaaaaay too much fruit apparently! I've got 6 weeks until a romantic child free weekend in Paris and I need to lose 7lbs (at least) and get back into the LBD.

I fell off the wagon over the summer and haven't managed to clamber back on again. I always feel so much better on boot camp so God knows why I can't keep on keeping on. Thank you as always Biwi
