AuntieMaggie I started Bootcamping while breastfeeding. I started straight on to Bootcamp Light as you have a carb requirement when breastfeeding - something to do with the conversion of glucose to galactose to lactose which is needed in your milk but I've never looked that closely into the biology of it all. The other things I did was to take a breastfeeding supplement (Pregnacare Breastfeeding Plus in my case). I recommend having snacks handy through the night for breastfeeding (Peperami, olives, Babybels, berries, pork scratchings or whatever suits you). This goes against the rule of Bootcamp but I would also consider having a banana handy for the first few days in case you get carb flu. I was hit really hard with the carb flu (probably because I was mainlining chocolate fudge cake before I went low carb) and it's the last thing you need when you're trying to cope with a young baby too. I lost 2-3 lb a week at first then 1-2 lb a week afterwards and had no issues with my milk supply at all.

I won't be joining this Bootcamp as I will only be gaining weight this time round having reached my goal weight and taken up weight training to try and build muscle as I'm so very puny! But I'll definitely be following the threads with interest. I lost 30 lb in five months last year on Bootcamp, and another 6 lb more slowly since then to reach my goal of 9 st. So I can personally vouch for the fact that this is an effective way to lose weight. The threads will keep you on the straight and narrow when you're tempted by carbs, and provide some inspiring snack and meal ideas.

MrsHerculePoirot · 15/09/2014 08:02

AuntieMaggie CONGRATULATIONS! How old is your baby? I tend to eat more processed stuff than I would ideally with a baby, but it is often easier with one hand when they are being difficult! I also try and prepare same much as I can in the evening when I know I will usually have a short amount of time. Bacon I used to grill, now just chuck in the oven.

Madamnit · 15/09/2014 08:34

Can I join please? I've been cutting out bread, pasta, rice etc for the last couple of months (with a 10 day break on holiday)

I know I'm eating too much processed food and cheese and definitely not drinking enough water! I seem to have stalled and need a kick up the bum please!

Birdinacage · 15/09/2014 10:02

Hi all, I'll join in again this time, I have 5lb to go to reach a healthy BMI although still a lot further to reach my goal so will be carrying on for the foreseeable future.

I'm in. Can someone add me to the list before as I'm on the phone. Have done it before and it really works. DC1 starts school next week so should be easier for me than previously doing it over the summer etc. would like to lose a stone....

AndThisIsTrue · 15/09/2014 10:49

Can I join? I am proper skint atm though, is it doable on a budget? Off to read all the info.

AuntieMaggie · 15/09/2014 11:54

Thank you ladies :) DS is 11 weeks old

I ended up eating more carbs than I would've liked towards the second half of my pregnancy after going off meat and veg completely (still can't eat steak!) and having spd a lot of it was junk.

Low carbing helped me get my pcos under control so I want to get it back under control and lose weight before my body realises I'm not pregnant any more and the symptoms start again

questions2008 · 15/09/2014 12:00

Me please. Have had visitors for weeks now and have been a total pig. Low carbing has worked for me before, with great success and I like the "team" factor!

Haven't decided about bootcamp yet as I'm managing to maintain at target ish at the moment but am seriously in need of some new food ideas so will follow you all if that's ok?

Can anyone prompt me on how to cook a cauli cheese please - serious mental block here I'm afraid

FelixFelix · 15/09/2014 19:03

Hello! I'm going to give it a go (again). I did a couple of weeks of bootcamp earlier in the year then didn't stick to it. I know low carb works for me and I want to lose 1-2 stones before Christmas! So I'm signing in Grin

FelixFelix · 15/09/2014 19:04

Sorry can someone add my name to the list? Can't copy and paste on the app!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 15/09/2014 19:07

I'm in too - A bit like Felix I tried once before and did ok but fell off the wagon and am now back where I started - which is a couple of stone more than where I want to be.

MrsHerculePoirot · 15/09/2014 19:37

Forgot to add myself!

A bit more information about Bootcamp, for those who haven't done it before:

The first two weeks are the strictest. This is to switch your body away from burning carbs to burning fat. During this period you may not eat any of the following:

pasta/noodles
potatoes
sweet potatoes
sweetcorn
rice
bread (in any form)
flour (in any form)
biscuits/crackers
crisps
potatoes
fruit
alcohol
sugar
chocolates

After the first two weeks you can re-introduce fruit (berries and rhubarb, as long as you don't use sugar to sweeten the rhubarb) and alcohol.
