After enjoying a bacon sandwich at the weekend back on eggs in a cup for breakfast, tuna mayo and salad for lunch. The low rise jeans are feeling comfortable. They must be the most unforgivable item of clothing especially if you are a lady of a certain age.

LittleMissDisorganized · 15/04/2014 12:51

Gatorade sorry, I was meaning to be encouraging, sorry if it didn't come across that way.
Please absolutely! - I too am in my smaller jeans that were my "target" but I think they don't look good because they are unforgiving and unflattering. Now I can stand a bit better I think I'll be having a good changing room try on for some new jeans and work clothes but don't tell DH!

GatoradeMeBitch · 15/04/2014 13:13

Oh I didn't take your comment negatively whatsoever LMD, I hope you don't think that! Smile

I just thought I'd show the full source for my comment so everyone had the same info as me. But I'm inclined to agree with you!

EvaTheOptimist · 15/04/2014 22:28

Most intriguing Gatorade I wonder if there is any shred of reason to the "golden shot" theory. Like LittleMiss I can't see why the same physiological processes wouldn't work at any time though.

I'd say this was the 3rd time I've been on some sort of low-carb diet, though the first two were nothing like bootcamp. The first was just "not eating things with sugar in" - but I lost lots of weight. The second was a crazy self-designed low-carb and lowish-fat diet (it involved a breakfast of fruit only - as at that point I had not realised that fruit was also carbs - I spent my mornings RAVENOUS as you can imagine). But it was low-carb as in no bread, potatoes, pasta, rice etc. It was highly successful in weight-loss terms but also highly miserable.

So when I read here about bootcamp and the scales fell from my eyes about fruit's carbiness and that it was a good idea to eat fat - I thought to myself "I just KNOW this is going to work!". And it did. I don't know whether the other 2 count as "first and second shots" as of course, they were quite different to bootcamp.

toomuch I hear you about putting on what you lost over bootcamp, on your holidays. It is my imagination that similar could have happened to me, that has meant I have NOT yet stepped on the scales to find out. Maybe one more day of eating good bootcamp meals before I dare.

trashcanjunkie · 16/04/2014 00:39

LMD That is the most awesome turn up for the books, I'm delighted for you!!!

Gatorade I really struggled to start on this woe and I didn't lose anything for weeks - I was worried cos I'd done it previously for a full year and shed six stone. I thought it wasn't gonna work, and then I realised I was eating far too much, and I cut down my portions and stopped snacking... I lost loads then and am averaging about two kilos a week now. So India Knight is wrong wrongy wrongkins!

crabby you're too kind! Littletrashdog is currently screeching her heart out as we've put her to bed in her crate (next to us) and she's terribly unimpressed with the situation. Dp is suffering dreadfully, but I did rapid return cc with my twins when they were 13months. It's barely touching the sides for me... Grin She's had all the things, food, water, wees, poos, attention, cuddles and now it's bedtime, and there's no way she'd be safe with us in the bed, so...... tough shit basically....

Welcome back eva I've missed your lovely posts!

stuntnun I am excited for the next one, because I will be an 'old hand' then Grin my eating hasn't changed on whit from the end of last bootcamp, so that will be fine! although I am having an easter egg

whooshy Grin Wasn't GOT the tits Oh my god, I am so glad the little turd is gone - dp said he was disappointed - not long/painful enough... I can't believe we're only two episodes in and we've still got the rest of the juicy series to go!! I hope you have managed to pull yourself out of the gutter of carby twatness by now madam!

please no matter how slim I get, I can never wear low rise jeans on account of my high rise arse crack.... It just goes on and on. Funny enough, before dp and I got together I was checking out his bum (it's incredible) through his tight work trousers, and I though 'what if he doesn't have a high rise arse crack - I couldn't cope....' fortunately, he does, it's perfect Grin

Ahh the puppy and dp have settled... Night night everyone

SayraT · 16/04/2014 08:16

Just in to record my food for the day so feel free to ignore!

Yesterday went ok, I stuck to my plan except I had a few Brazil nuts at coffee (not that I think that's bad, it just wasn't on my plan) instead of chocolate that was being offered around.

B: Coffee with cream
L: Salmon fillet with broccoli and cauliflower
D: Chilli with cauli-rice
S: Nuts probably

I also weighed myself this morning, at the end of BC I was 221, after my carbytwatness I was 226, today I am 222 so quite pleased Smile

WhooshFuckerFairy · 16/04/2014 10:01

Morning all .
Completely off plan yesterday evening as picked up DD3 ( age3) from childminder and she was protecting her right side and very very grizzley . Apparently she fell ' earlier' when she was trying to take her shoes off and fell heavily on outstretched hand . Straight to A&E ( where I had just left as work there half the time !) - yep .... Fractured collar bone Angry. So we have 3 weeks in a sling ( right arm of course) , can't really go to nursery or preschool .... And has mummy Velcro syndrome . So .... Am afraid have called in sick . It was a childminder I only use in the school hols when I have to work - it's such a shame I had such a fab week home with the kids last week .
Food wise - wasn't too bad - as low carb all day but did have a bag of hoola hoops at 10pm for supper when I finally got her to sleep !
whoosy Grin matey you just make me laugh properly out Loud which us just what I need ! High rise arse crack made me snort my black coffee down my nose ! And yes I agree with your DP - more pain needed for a sustained period and preferably inflicted by 'sancee' ( not sure on spelling but poor red head first wife ... Daughter of Stark )

Weighed today - first time in ages . 159 lb - which is 2lb up since end of bootcamp . Am now 'back on it' - daily weighing for a while and sayra - my today plan is :
Break -scrambled eggs
Lunch - tuna/ mayo/ big salad
Supper - beef chilli with courgetti
Snacks - trying not to but if desperate start with cucumber , if still desperate - a few almonds .

WhooshFuckerFairy · 16/04/2014 10:03

Am delerious - i am whoosy ... I meant trashy !!

Ruprekt · 16/04/2014 10:08

Is there a date in place for next bootcamp?

Countdown to the hols! Smile

trashcanjunkie · 16/04/2014 10:44

Oh god whooshy that's fucking terrible! Your poor little mite. I am so so sorry for you both! Does that mean you're off work for the next three weeks? Gah, (although, selfishly, that means you'll be more available for my delectation on mn.... mwahahaha)

Keep your chin up my delirious darling xxxx

StuntNun · 16/04/2014 11:14

I posted yesterday about the golden shot idea but my post must have never made it through. I do think this is a woe for life and not a diet that you can do for a while then go back to eating as you were before. If you are insulin resistant or pre-diabetic then carbs, especially sugars, are downright bad for you. There is an important distinction between this woe for weight loss and for maintenance. At maintenance you can add in e.g. potatoes, carrots, sweet potato, rice, the occasional slice of bread etc. without gaining weight. I like the 80/20 rule whereby if you follow the rules 80% of the time you shouldn't gain weight so the odd boozy night or pasta-fest is fine in the context of an overall LCHF diet. If you look at low carb websites and blogs then the phenomenon of not losing weight on subsequent attempts to low carb is well known and there are tips and hacks for breaking through plateaus. I certainly don't see any physiological basis for the assumption that a low carb diet only works once. Maybe the length of Bootcamp works against it in a way, ten weeks isn't enough time to completely change your way of eating. When you've been doing it for a bit longer it becomes habitual.

EvaTheOptimist · 16/04/2014 11:48

Wow Whoosh aren't you a bit annoyed with the child-minder?! I hope your DD is not in too much pain today. Really tricky to handle work when you've got this going on.

Trash I am also chortling at your description of a high-rise arse crack and the fact that you needed your DP to have a matching one!!

WhooshFuckerFairy · 16/04/2014 14:21

very annoyed at childminder yes - also bearing in mind what I do for a living ! ( safeguarding children )!

Think DH and I will share time off over next 3 weeks but basically yes trashy - much more MN'ing - and watching puppy crate info/tips with interest .
sayra just had equally orgasmic Lidl 'smoked tuna with cherries in sunflower oil' ..... Gorgeous !

< hurries off to try and see if has high or low arse crack >

Parsnipcake · 16/04/2014 15:01

I really worry about the 'one shot' thing. I am on week 7 and doing great, very motivated still. But we go in holiday in July and I am worried about food. Even if I try to carry on with this WOE in holiday, I am sure I won't stay in ketosis as dressings etc will have sugar in and the breakfasts are all croissants etc. so do I give up? Try my best or switch to a low calorie diet for the week?

Also what do other people with a lot to lose do about clothes. I am 2 dress sizes down and my clothes are starting to look like sacks, but I don't want to buy loads because I want to drop two more sizes ( at least). How have other people dealt with this?

StuntNun · 16/04/2014 17:06

Parsnip I think a week or two on holiday where your carb intake increase is okay, the one shot idea applies where you have been off the woe for a while and gone back to it. I wouldn't recommend going back to a very high carb intake as the weight will pile on quickly and you may feel unwell as well. I would compromise by eating as low carb as you can. For example sometimes when I have curry I have a small amount of rice with it, maybe a quarter of a portion. Cooked breakfasts are an easy low carb option. Or if you really can't avoid a carby meal then make the most of it and really enjoy it rather than agonising about being off diet. And have a plan for when you get back, e.g. arrange a supermarket delivery with all your favourite low carb foods and low carb treats. Those carb cravings recede into the background when you're tucking into pork belly or eating clotted cream straight from the pot.

trashcanjunkie · 16/04/2014 21:53

I had the lidl duck boobies with roast cauliflower and broccoli. I'm house sitting this week though, and have just been an enormous twat and had a (small) glass of red wine and an entire bar of lidl milk choc with almond and caramel which was approx 70g of carby twatness. It was in their sweety cupboard. Don't feel so good now. Drinking some water. That had been brewing for a while I must say. Bah.

SayraT · 17/04/2014 08:04

I saw the tuna in Lidl but wasn't sure what it would be like so didn't get it, I might now!

When I was in Lidl yesterday I bought the last two duck breast packs and stuck them in the freezer, I intend to fill my freezer full of duck now except I've already got half a lamb in there so not much room for duck

Didn't stick to plan yesterday had a few chocolates at lunch, why is it so much harder this time! I also announced my intention to go back on the "no sugar" to my work colleagues so hopefully knowing that they know I shouldn't be eating sugary stuff will help me to stop.

Had the most brilliant games of badminton yesterday, I could really feel that I did some exercise, I've also agreed to play one night after work as well Shock. Then I had friends over for pole practice and dinner....now I feel all stiff Grin I love that feeling when you know you've actually done something.

Todays Food Plan

B: Coffee with cream toast, how the hell did I allow that to happen, where is my self control?!!
L: Chilli (no rice, just cheese on top)
D: Out this evening so hope I manage to find something LCish

BecauseImWoeufIt · 17/04/2014 08:52

I've read about the 'one shot' thing over the years, so I'm prepared to believe that, somehow, some people must at least feel that they have experienced this.

But I can't, for the life of me, work out how that might work?

And every time I have returned to low carbing, having had 'time off', it works and I lose weight.

So don't lose heart.

toomuchicecream · 17/04/2014 10:07

I think that the one shot thing I'd because the more often you do something, the more comfortable and so careless you become. Based on my experience it applies to all diets. I've done slimming works and Rosemary Coneley several times each and for both the first time was the most effective. With boot camp I am in control, not some group leader so I can make adjustments as I need to. And I think that the fact that I retain responsibility rather than paying someone else to tell me what to do is really important for long term success.

Eva - I needed to get on the scales to scare myself back on track! Half the weight gain gone now and it's TOTM. So well on track for my personal target of starting the next boot camp within a pound or two of where I finished the last one!

StuntNun · 17/04/2014 10:45

I think cheating might be a factor in the one shot thing. Now I've been low carbing for a whole I'm much more likely to have nuts, chocolate, beer, too much dairy and other things that can hinder weight gain when they are frequent.

thenightsky · 17/04/2014 12:34

Agree with Stunt about the cheating. I think you become complacent as you learn that you can cheat one day and make it all right the next day be being ultra good, drinking gallons etc. Trouble is, in your head you start to justify the ever increasing cheats with this get out clause. If that makes sense.

LittleMissDisorganized · 17/04/2014 13:19

But also (and I agree with and respect the vastly-more-experience-than-me voices here, nice name change by the way Easter Smile ) the cheating/maintaining etc is partly about learning what keeps you at the same weight, particularly if you've been gaining for a while, or been a bit of a yo-yo dieter. (I'm the former) And that's quite an important bit of self knowledge.

So in the last nearly 2 weeks, I've STS. I've cheated twice - when my bandages all came off, not the worst cheat - and then Monday night after I got the job I had a whole meal of cheats. It was a major life event, I've been out of work through ill health for almost 3 years, it's fine. Otherwise I've been solidly LC (ha! - doesn't leave much does it!!) So this is a kind of coping-with-high-days-and-holidays learning curve without gaining and I set myself the target of 3 stone for the year and I'm over half way. So I'm happy enough, although I guess I won't be if I can't get going again.

It's different to giving up/ changing plan altogether for weeks on end which from the thread Gatorade linked to is more the situation and the problem that people seem to talk about.

parsnip with respect to clothes sizes, that's amazing that you've dropped two dress sizes so quickly!! I've dropped one since the start of the year, and it took over a stone and a half to do so. I was last this size about this time last year and over the summer, so I have some summery clothes from the way up, and have added bits. I've shopped fairly cheaply though because I'm hoping that in another few months/ another stone and a half, I'll be down a size again. Once I get to that second size dropped, I have plenty of clothes as I was that size for a few years. I guess it depends when you put your weight on, have you been the same sort of weight for years? The rate of loss is sadly bound to slow down so you won't drop another two sizes in another 7 weeks, so maybe it's worth some interim clothes shopping?

On the subject of clothes, I'm happily justifying a work wardrobe as I have little that fits, but also I used to be a tailored dress and tights kind of girl, now with horrific scarring on both lower legs and feet and my left foot being two sizes bigger than my right, it's going to be trousers and blouses.

Sayra that sounds exhausting just to listen to!

Whoosh what a nightmare! Hope DD is as comfortable as possible and copes with being restricted.

Here is a good article on the one shot thing.
