Week 3 Low Carb Bootcamp - Where we stand at the crossroads ...

Morning everyone.

So, we enter the fabled week 3.

This week you have a choice. You can either continue with Bootcamp or you can move on to Bootcamp Light:

Rules of Bootcamp Light

Or you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend. Totally up to you and what you find is working for you the most.

Don't forget to enter your weight on the weight tracker - today you should see your graph appear! Or if you prefer, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And now - a word of warning!

It is very, very, very common for weight loss to slow down/stop altogether in weeks 3, 4 and/or 5. This seems to be entirely normal. It's probably to do with your body adjusting to low carbing. You will have junked the glycogen stores and a load of water, and will now be burning fat. From here on, weight loss will - and should be - around 1-2lbs a week

Good luck everyone!

tea thats a nice reason to be woken up so congratulations Thanks

I am glad that others have felt the same, I have drunk plenty of water, about 3.5 litres already - I needed to replace the fluid I lost at badminton! Got another pint glass in front of me and will drink at least one more.

It is still quite early so I will see how I feel later. It will mess up my meal plan if I don't have dinner Grin

TinTinsSexySister · 29/01/2014 18:15

Hi all,

Been keeping a low profile for a week, but have stuck to the regime apart from a small slice of DH's birthday cake on Sunday and some Champagne for the same.

I'm 2lbs down overall, which is good.

I've had my wisdom tooth out today though and a bit short of ideas for LC mushy foods for the next few days.

Having Broccoli & Cauli soup for dinner
Yog for breakfast tomorrow....

I don't like soup v much, so can't live off that for days - plus it's not v fatty - and all other suggestions are mash potato or risotto.

Any thoughts wise ladies?!

teaandthorazine · 29/01/2014 18:15

Don't forget to keep your salts up too - I saw on the other thread that you've been having cramps? So a cup of bouillon once a day, salt the food you are eating, etc.

I need to finish off the baby blanket now Grin

MrsHughJarse · 29/01/2014 18:20

Has anyone else completely lost touch with the rest of MN ? This thread moves so fast and I feel like I can't miss a minute - I am so enthused with boot camp ....

The ' active discussions ' on MN are dead to me ....[shocked] Grin

googoogoggles · 29/01/2014 18:23

Never mind all this talk about pork scratchings (awful things Grin, I am still reeling from the heads up that Aldi gin is under a tenner. Am def planning a trip there as soon as I can (no local stores near me!). I drink Greenalls, at the moment, like primal ... Oooh, gin...
Mumset def need a little icon for gin!

SayraT · 29/01/2014 18:27

Yes tea I will. I never used to add salt to food (don't particularly like it but like drinking bouillon) so its hard to get into the habit of doing it. Since starting this WOE I have begun to enjoy salty things more.

Will I be thrown off mumsnet if I don't like gin? I makes me cry!!

Sayra gin makes me cry too. I usually start crying and saying things like " But I loved him". My husband who is a lovely person asks " Who is this person you loved" and do you know what. I have no idea, no idea at all Grin

Notsoskinnyminny · 29/01/2014 18:32

MrsHughJarse, I've just read through the 10 pages since I was last on on Monday and can't keep up either.

PS Can I join Camp Gin

PPS just the thought of pork scratchings, especially hairy ones, makes me want to gag.

PPPS off to make my first dolphin poise - if nothing else I've tried more things in the last 3 wks than in my previous mumble-mumble years Grin

FourArms · 29/01/2014 19:01

Just made scotch eggs. OMG! One of the nicest things I've eaten in ages :)

Hard boiled eggs, wrapped in pork mince with mixed herbs, salt & pepper and then rolled in fake Parmesan cheese stuff.

Pan fried in olive oil to brown then cooked in halogen oven.

Made 3 with 500g mince. Hope they're nice cold as well!

PseudoBadger · 29/01/2014 19:06

Enjoy! I don't like Parmesan, or any cheese other than cheddar/mozzarella really. What could I coat them in?

LittleMissDisorganized · 29/01/2014 19:13

Evening all,
Definitely no gin here :) 19 months today! - I love waking up sober.

Am a bit discouraged. Not about the WOE, or about my progress, but... I have had dinner fails 3 nights in a row and gone to bed un-full/ hungry (and woken up in the night hungry). The first couple of weeks, every recipe I tried I really loved and I am, honest, a good cook, and so sometimes I just create something out of random ingredients and it usually goes well. This week we've had undercooked chicken, disastrous alchemy, and a new recipe that failed. DH says they've not been that bad but I am very disheartened, he also fills up massively on pudding so has not had the hungry issue! I am determined NOT to revert to that so I'm sticking to once dinner's done, that's it. No yogurt or whatever to fill up on. But urgh, I am sick of my own incompetence. And of wasting the food.

Not really after any solutions, just needed the moan. I am really tired and DH is out. Overdone it today. Would it be awful to retreat to bed with a book??!

sueh95 · 29/01/2014 19:16

Ahhh Athel thats lovely news - I'm chuffed for you - its great trying on something you think will be too small and finding it fits Smile

Stop it with all the talk of gin - I could murder one now but not having any til Friday Sad I have a bottle of tanqueray no 10 that I was given for my birthday -I haven't tried it before so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

crabby dd will be back before you know it - treat yourself well while she's away xx

Today not weighed in (scales banned til Monday)

B 2 boiled eggs butter
L salad with pate, home made coleslaw
D bit of an odd mix - more eggs, mayo salami, celeriac dauphinoise

Lots of water, 2 coffees with cream, peppermint tea

Am knackered - is it bedtime yet?

teaandthorazine · 29/01/2014 19:29

God it's cold tonight! Think I'm going to jump in bath then into pyjamas, and settle down with a bowl of Greek yoghurt and double cream to watch Horizon.

Am fully expecting to be yelling at the telly by about 9.04pm.

HumphreyCobbler · 29/01/2014 19:34

I know teaandthorazine, not sure my bloody pressure can take it

I may record it and just see what you lot think before exposing myself to it

Have felt BRILLIANT all day today at the proof the diet is working for me. Measurements are the only proof as I don't weigh. But two inches off my thighs makes me happy. I had a massive two weeks with no measurement change as well, so am terribly glad I kept going.

Lovecat · 29/01/2014 19:42

Ooh, gin, lovely gin... I am usually a Bombay Sapphire woman, but my lodger bought me a selection of miniatures when she left, of which I've only tried Sipsmiths so far. It is LUSH, probably the best I've tasted. I'm not a fan of Hendricks, it's a bit too flowery for my taste. I have Cambridge and Whitley Neill to try yet. Tanqueray is gorgeous too.

I too have been afflicted with lack of appetite today - had some crustless quiche around 11 and only just had dinner - Crabby's amazing pork with fennel seeds in the slow cooker with celeriac mash and broccoli - DH regarding me as some kind of goddess when I dished it up :)

Hope the party went well, Crabby and Bob voyage to your DD.

MrsHughJarse · 29/01/2014 19:45

Just seen the horizon twins on the one show ..,,,, feeling upset already .... Not sure the science is going to hold up .....

HeirToTheIronThrone · 29/01/2014 19:56

You can visit the gin distillery in Plymouth and try all different varieties and cocktails. It's lots of fun...

Attempting to post my first ever picture as I was so pleased with my dinner - pork chop fried in butter, asparagus, greens cooked with more butter and garlic, and sauce with shallots, mushrooms, bacon, mustard and creme fraiche. It was delicious, and even DH practically licked the plate.

Week 3 Low Carb Bootcamp - Where we stand at the crossroads ...
AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/01/2014 20:02

Evening from the Happy Trouser House. Good to hear others are feeling the same thing!

Tea, I have some workplace tutters as well. One particularly struggling lady who wants to lose a lot sits there sighing at her grated carrot all lunchtime, then eating the kitkats out of the admin room in the middle of the afternoon. Disintegrated carrot and kitkats! And she says I'm a 'fussy' eater Hmm.

Tintin - mashed swede and celeriac - you wouldn't know the difference and if you put a LOT of butter in it and some double cream it will do perfectly. I remember Marco Pierre White saying somewhere that his mash was 1:1 proportions butter to veg. I'm not that brave, but I'm close...

My vote goes for Plymouth Gin, followed by Tanqueray.

Lighthousekeeping · 29/01/2014 20:07

Yum.

I just had celeriac mashed with spinach and a mustard dressing. I don't know how I've never noticed it before! With pork chops and garlic m and s mushrooms. Lovely.

I've got gin and diet tonic. I'm going to put my pjs on soon and light my new candles and watch the Big Brother final. Bliss.

ChesterDrawers · 29/01/2014 20:42

CBA doing tea so had some pork scratchings (mr porky - not all that but thankfully no hairs [sick face]) and a bowl of yog and cream.

Really want gin. I'm normally a Gordon's girl but I do love a Hendricks from time to time.

And chocolate.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 20:45

I very stupidly, without thinking, finished off the last square of DDs Dairy Milk after their tea. Barely even remember eating it - but my body is screaming out for more. I'm absolutely not hungry - these are my worst cravings ever!

HumphreyCobbler · 29/01/2014 21:05

Watching Horizon. What is all this American/British thing?

HumphreyCobbler · 29/01/2014 21:06

craving a bowl of fresh greens? glad I can have those Hmm

teaandthorazine · 29/01/2014 21:07

Annoyed already. No greens? Ffs, I eat way more greens now than I ever did!
