Week 3 Low Carb Bootcamp - Where we stand at the crossroads ...

BIWI · 27/01/2014 07:31

Morning everyone.

So, we enter the fabled week 3.

This week you have a choice. You can either continue with Bootcamp or you can move on to Bootcamp Light:

Rules of Bootcamp Light

Or you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend. Totally up to you and what you find is working for you the most.

Don't forget to enter your weight on the weight tracker - today you should see your graph appear! Or if you prefer, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And now - a word of warning!

It is very, very, very common for weight loss to slow down/stop altogether in weeks 3, 4 and/or 5. This seems to be entirely normal. It's probably to do with your body adjusting to low carbing. You will have junked the glycogen stores and a load of water, and will now be burning fat. From here on, weight loss will - and should be - around 1-2lbs a week

Good luck everyone!

captainmummy - dh isn't madly keen on moussaka and I think using aubergine would make it a bit too similar to that.

SteeleyeStan · 29/01/2014 16:21

Durham agreed, those are vile! They've put me off from trying any other brand, too. :(
Chester We must eat the bunnies!

(I'm avoiding doing any work!)

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 16:22

Durham, on my last BC, when everyone raved about pork scratchings, I just bought the first I saw. They were like yours. Rank.

But I didn't give up! Now I only get the ones that have nothing except pork and salt in.

DurhamDurham · 29/01/2014 16:24

I will not give up, I am determined to have something tasty to snack on during the evening when everyone else in the house is stuffing themselves with tea and biscuits Grin

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 16:25

I think I'm going to make my own next though. Morrisons sell pork rind - I'm guessing I just need to score and salt?

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 16:27

I've got the awfully posh ones, being delivered by amazon, tomorrow hopefully.

DurhamDurham · 29/01/2014 16:28

You could start up a new cottage industry making your own pork scratchings. I would be your first customer Grin

DurhamDurham · 29/01/2014 16:32

Thanks for the link, I may order some now. Be good to have something to look forward to. I do miss snacking a little bit, it's not that I'm hungry exactly, more that I feel like I'm missing out.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 16:32

I teach food tech - I could set up a student production line.

(Imagine their faces when I give them pig skin......)Grin

DurhamDurham · 29/01/2014 16:38

It's the way forward. We could offer a prize ( of Pork Scratchings) to the student who produces the tastiest scratchings.
Certainly makes a change from pineapple upside down cake which was speciality in food tech at school....although in my day it was called Domestic Science. GrinGrin

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 16:40

Noooo pineapple upside down cake. Blurgh.

I'M BLOODY FREEZING, FIRST TIME I'VE GOT AWAY ON TIME FOR MY EARLY FINISH AND FORGOT I'VE SET THE HEATING TO COME ON AT 5 AND THE HOUND WANTS TO GO WALKIES

Haven't been on for a few days so hugs and Thanks to everyone who needs them.

i'm still sticking to plan but not seeing any movement on the scales but I haven't got much to lose so need to stop focussing on the magic numbers and think of the lovely food I've been eating instead of the usual crap.

gutted because I'm on a course tomorrow and there's a new lidl nearby which opened the day after my last course but the head's also attending and she's 'offered' to drive so no lie in or TK Maxx fix on the way back to school and I'll have to delay my first ever visit to a lidl (I was an aldi virgin until last week Grin). Its the nearest one for miles but a nightmare to get to so I'll have to book myself onto something else as I've acquired a taste for greek yoghurt and want to see what theirs is like.

Not much weight lost so far, mostly because of weekend cheating, I suspect. Have been very good so far this week though and am feeling thinner and lighter. Have taken to carrying my water bottle around all the time and eating coconut oil by the spoonful .

bettybigballs · 29/01/2014 17:06

Word of warning on the tyrells scratchings, I was shoving them into my face last week, not concentrating at all and one was hairy. Blllleeeuuugh.

Stopped me from snacking though so not all bad!

PseudoBadger · 29/01/2014 17:09

I hate gin Woolfey

holmessweetholmes · 29/01/2014 17:12

PrimalLass if you go on the ferry from Dorset to Jersey or Guernsey you can buy 2 litres of Greenalls for £16... [turning into my gin-loving mother face]

Back on the wagon today, ham and Philly rolls for breakfast (tip: do not make these the night before to save time in the morning as they were watery and unpleasant and made me feel a bit sick...), lamb meatballs at the pub for work lunch, swapped the mash for extra spinach and green beans (ok, and peas. But better than mash!) And tonight will be pork chops with creamy mushroom sauce plus asparagus and some garlic greens.

2 litres of water and have just started a mammoth baby blanket knitting project which has the added bonus of keeping my hands busy so I don't snack in the evening!

DurhamDurham · 29/01/2014 17:36

Oh God Betty, a hairy one, that is gross. I'm all for eating pig day but I have to draw the line at eating their hair. I wouldn't even eat my own hair and it usually smells very fruity.

MrsHughJarse · 29/01/2014 17:37

woolfey and badger thank goodness you do hate gin if there is going to be a shortage .....
Sounds like steeley chester piscy ( not sure if that's how you shorten ?! ) and I will be leading the charge to stock up on Gordon's , Hendicks , Bombay and Aldi .....

My name is Hugh Jarse and I am a gin weirdo ! Grin

Evening everyone, I am shattered tonight. Played badminton at lunch and as there were 6 of us we had two courts so played quite a few games.

I know that some people have mentioned a reduction in appetite and BIWI said that its ok to skip meals if you aren't hungry but I haven't been hungry at all today. Is it ok to not eat anything/very much all day?

I had a coffee with cream this morning then some Lidl FF yoghurt at 10 am and that is it, is this ok or should I eat something?

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 29/01/2014 18:03

Sayra, I've felt like this too. I've still been eating my evening meal as it's the only one I have with DP, but very often, in really not hungry for it.

teaandthorazine · 29/01/2014 18:08

Sayra, I just eat when I'm hungry tbh. For some people this WOE does go hand in hand with a quite dramatic loss of appetite and I figure why eat if I'm genuinely not hungry? Once I'm in ketosis I often end up doing a 16:8 fast, almost unintentionally!

However...make sure that you keep drinking the water even if you're not eating. I might also have the odd spoonful of yoghurt or coconut oil just to make sure that I'm getting the fat in.

Have felt shattered today but that could be because my brother woke me at 3.30am to tell me I'd become an auntie Grin, so I don't mind too much!

Also had one of 'those' conversations with a colleague telling me how very, very unhealthy low carb is, as I sat there eating avocado and crayfish salad with kale, and drinking plain water!! Sigh. I wouldn't mind but she is a) overweight and b) obsessed with calorie counts. Love her to bits but I know who is eating better and getting healthier out of the two of us. She did acknowledge that most nutrition research/ conventional wisdom is shite though, so...
