He will behave on Friday as he alwyas does in front of other ppl asbm. He is very much about appearances but I think mediator has the measure of him.

At least he will hear from an outsider that is not acceptable. Prob is I suspect his family connive at it with him. They are same - appearances are all yet all sorts of crap and dysfunction under the surface.

All I can do is counter it by telling DS how much I love him and helping him feel secure and confident - i alwyas let him know I love him no matter what he can tell me anything etc.

aurorastargazer · 27/07/2010 13:44

hear, hear ((((((janos)))))

ninah · 27/07/2010 14:11

asbm i SO wish you had not said hayley cropper
that is what has put me off buying one for the last 25 years
I think I will take it back and settle for the £2 organic poncho option instead
how cool is that monty I haven't seen him since Hyde Park mid eighties

ninah · 27/07/2010 14:13

janos my ex looks like a pillar of soceity on first inspection
you have to live with him to truly see the flaws
if your ds feels secure words won't shake him
sorry you are going through this crp

aseriouslyblondemoment · 27/07/2010 14:16

aurorastargazer · 27/07/2010 14:44

janos - monty is right - your ds will realise one day; dd has already seen that her dad is a liar - me and dd are supposed to be going to a wedding and he turned round and said that he wanted to get her an outfit. fine (but i wasn't holding my breath ). lo and behold he hasn't got one good job there are alternatives at home for her.

Monty100 · 27/07/2010 14:49

ASBM - I think you should fess up what tapes were in that box .

Aurora - Jeez, another one! (exh)

OP posts:
aurorastargazer · 27/07/2010 14:55

at least there is a tory government again to bring out the fire in his belly
I don't fancy anorak much, oh dear

Monty100 · 27/07/2010 16:52

ninah · 27/07/2010 16:56

Yes he is!
there's supposed to be an old Leonard Cohen film on the Thursday night too which I may have to drag dc too - BOring mum
I am supposed to be doing housework today
I have done a bit but omg isn't it tedious
am crap as SAHM

Monty100 · 27/07/2010 18:46

Ninah - Leonard Cohen, omg that takes me back to lying on my bed being a sulky teenager lolol. Loved it.

Housework is rewarding, its just the tedium of doing it first.

ASBM - we're waiting for fess-up.

Oh, I forgot one of my tapes, a compilation put together for me by a friend circa 1985 - The Travelling Wilburys lol. (OMG some of our fellow posters were probably born about then ).

Right I'm now insured on the car so I'm going to dig out some naff older fave cds to put in there. Will report back.

OP posts:
ninah · 27/07/2010 19:48

yup remember them!
mine was Redskins, Bronski Beat 'Breadline Britain' can't even remember what else is on there
tunes with a conscience lol
my teen sulk tracks were Jam Sex Pistols and Hazel O'Connor oh and don't forget Sioxsie Sioux

ninah · 27/07/2010 19:54

I can't see the reward in housework, I just don't get what's soothing about a good polish
I mainly stick to the Quentin Crisp method

  • after a certain amount of dust it doesn't get worse I feel a need for less clutter, mainly have a bootful for tip tomorrow and ordered a new mattress with my thank you teacher voucher a good night's sleep is a present that will benefit their children too lol
Janos · 27/07/2010 20:54

Thanks you lot. My shoulders are now firmly squared for Friday! It helps to know others are in the same situation. I expect DS will get the measure of XP soon enough.

aurora thanks for the ((())) very much appreciated!

asbm - sorry for being so self absorbed, I didn't even ask how you were. Hope everything is ok with you. Now, tell us whats on yer mix tape!

As a teen I sulked along to The Cure and thought Robert Smith was sooo cool.

ninah - am same with housework. Am very much of the 'good enough' school. Opp of sis who is vee houseproud!

Monty100 · 27/07/2010 20:55

I've still got lots of the Jam on vinyl , I quite liked Hazel O'Connor too, but even in those days I was a bit more of a hippy/blues listener lol.

I've just been out and dropped dd off. I took Coldplay (yes I know some of it is a derge), Norah Jones, Bob Dylan and another one that I've forgotten already lol.

OP posts:
ninah · 27/07/2010 20:59

Ricky Lee Jones? Tom Waitts?
ooh I should move over to itunes
janos my sis is like that too! I dread taking dc there in case they drop/spill

Janos · 27/07/2010 21:15

YY nina her house is like a show home! Her and BIL both neat freaks - in the nicest way of course.

lou33 · 27/07/2010 21:23

cor this is taking me right back

i heard lloyd cole and the commotions on the radio the other day, do you remember him?

janos, you can do it, just remember you are right and he is a twat

talking of twats, i picked up my exh from day surgery today (being the bigger person of course) and dropped him back to his where dd1 is looking after him for a bit, and i actually got a text from him saying thank you

he is still a twat though

i picked him up from the same place i had my gynae op, and told him it was the step before a hysterectomy , which luckily seemed to have worked as i couldnt afford a 6 week recovery period what with school runs and lifting ds2 in and out of his wheelchair, and he said to me that if i ended up having the gearbox removed it would be a great idea if HE moved into here with the kids and i moved into HIS to recover

yeh right oh, dream on

ninah · 27/07/2010 21:28

the gearbox
that comment in its entirety has to win my first mn jammy dodger

Monty100 · 27/07/2010 21:31

Xposts there.

Janos - keep those shoulders square and your head held high.

I have a dsis with a show home too, the one that offered it to me while she was away at Easter (she's in a beautiful part of the country) but I didn't go because I would have spent the whole time fixing it and worrying about how I'd leave it. She usually comes and stays at mine when I'm on my annual holiday and when I get back it is SHINING! She puts herbs and spices into little individual plastic bags and stuff . She does all the cupboards and everything. Aw bless her. She rearranges furniture, she always brings stuff like a new rug, and little side lamps etc. It's great. I don't think I'm having an abroad holiday during the 'holidays' this year so she won't be coming .

OP posts:
ninah · 27/07/2010 21:32

can she come to mine while i'm at Green Man?
