I'm trying not to get carried away as it might yet fall through (would't surprise me)

But eek.. I have a date! with a nice looking 28yo.. that I actually met in a bar a couple of weeks ago.

I've been playing it uber cool as I actually wasn't that fussed about meeting up with him, I think that might be what has kept him interested.. but now today is here, I'm feeling a little excited!

First proper date in some time and I'm a little hopeful as I haven't been 'looking' lately

moh speaks sense

i just dont log on when i dont feel like it

MascaraOHara · 02/12/2008 11:13

sorry didn't mean to say 'used to' as in I've met someone I meant 'used to' because I've not logged into any of my profiles for weeks as I got fed up.. they are still there just sitting dormant so will be dorpping down the searches. I decided to have a break because I was getting fed up.

Yeah most of the time it is fun and a real ego boost I agree. In fact, many emails I receive don't even answer only if someone really catches my eye.

There a couple of guys that I have been in touch with for ages, there is no bullshit there we just talk whenever and that's fine. More than happy with that.

But this recent one caught me a bit off guard. He was so enthusiastic (I put it down to his age) lol.

Usually I can take with pinch of salt - I think I have progressed considerably with that.

MascaraOHara · 02/12/2008 11:53

I think that happens with any situation sometimes.. I've been out for 3 or 4 dates with guys I've met in bars.. they've been really enthusiastic etc and then they just go cold.. don't think it's soemthing you can get away from but it's compeltely natural for it to make you feel a bit rubbish.

my date is Thursday night.

Good luck with it - hope it goes well.

I am not particularly looking for anything serious but it would be nice to have a evening out in a bar or a cosy night in with a DVD.

Am not even averse to a f** buddy.

christmaseve · 02/12/2008 16:55

Hey stop being defeatist. I hope not there has been too many cancelled dates on mumsnet recently .

lou33 · 02/12/2008 17:26

well if he cancelled then he would be the fool wouldnt he?

MascaraOHara · 05/12/2008 10:16

didn't cancel.. was lovely

think we are definitely seeing each other again.. and he text me before I was even home to tell me I had looked fabulous and that he'd had a great night.

Also, if I can re-arrange some plans I am going to his Christmas party - miles away from where we live, said he was booked into a travel lodge but if I could go he would find a nice hotel instead.. (I'm alright with a travel lodge to be fair but hey! what can you say)

wintercitylover · 05/12/2008 10:45

That's great news. Glad you had a good time.

Sounds promising.

MascaraOHara · 05/12/2008 11:01

yes at date 1, it's looking promising but we'll see how it goes.. I'm not sure what he's looking for yet, deffo not just sex and I get the impression we are both weighing the other up as to whether it's relationship potential.

have high hopes, at the moment.. don't want to jinx it though.

How's things with you CL?

thanks! I am stupidly grinning constantly. Am in school girl mode. I dropped him back at his and we had a nice little kiss in the car, think everything will move very slowly but I think that will be good for me after the last few years.

How's things with you?

Awww he sounds perfect. So what happened to the man you met in a bar?

MascaraOHara · 05/12/2008 11:48

Nothing bar guy has fizzled out.. think I have a new loose friendship there which is nice though.

Hi MOH - so so. I really need to concentrate on getting through Christmas and NY at the moment ie financially.

So the internet dating is a bit half hearted atm. I find I am getting plenty of interest (which is still a surprise esp from the younger guys but that prob says more about my own attitude to my age rather than theirs.

But then if I am interested back it all goes tits up!!

I also find I am quite to type in who I like, if you look at my 'favourites' they all are similar type LOL Honestly Didn't consider myself to be so narrow minded, it was not a conscious decision.

Seem to go for fairly attractive, dark haired (shaved or short), well built, average height. GSOH. Think Jamie Redknapp, Frank Lampard type. Am really not that shallow lol. Sharp minded but not intellectual. EXh was intellectual so not wanting that again thanks.

Exbf still very sporadic, don't think he will ever change unless he has some sort of lightbulb moment.

MascaraOHara · 06/12/2008 15:05

is Christmas going to be hard this year?

sounds like the dating thing might be a nice destraction though.

'new man' is being completely lovely we've spoken or text every day since bumped into each other and has been very sweet since we went out. told me he went to bed with a stupid grin on his face and that it was my fault I'm glad cos I went to bed with a stupid grin on my face too. I'm now seeing him tomorrow evening.
