Oh why not. Shall we all try to book a holiday in the same week at, say, a cheap/cheerful caravan/camping place in the UK?

It'd be such a laugh if lots of us went.

Prettyful - my DS 6 and 7 in Aug too!!

I am happy may 1/2 term or summer hols as long as I camp at the chosen site. (go with whatever tho and if not I'll join next time). Its the cost of caravan for me as only me and ds.

goingroundthebend4 · 23/01/2011 12:14

Brad it's lone parents so course your welcome not single mums and having talked with dc there intrested so camping dates moveable and if it rains more yo do at camber sands

Though think anyone wanting to share might need to give us q miss since five of us already

goingroundthebend4 · 23/01/2011 12:16

Hmm school years one left ,y9 y3 and yr1 yus I know I spread mine out caravan or camping

goingroundthebend4 · 23/01/2011 12:19

Only thing is we might struggle to book on dates we want due to people booking as they finshed last year holidays .What I used to do at Haven sites as good discount to book on park

mumbar · 23/01/2011 12:20

DS 6 (7in aug), camping due to cost, have own tent and transport so not an issue for me. Prefer 'all in' breaks as less cost once there. DS very good swimmer so pools are excellent entertainment for him!!

I would be up for a lone parents holiday but my budget will be very small.

I have 2 DSs 6 and 4, I am in West Sussex and can drive.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/01/2011 12:31

I have stayed in the holiday park in Bideford, its not great, really grotty and grubby and the staff are not brilliant. Its also in the middle of nowhere. Just a heads up!

ivykaty44 · 23/01/2011 12:34

sorry dooly - but have you been to westwood ho! ?

it is a little tatty, old and worn to say the least. I had lovely summers in Bideford as a child but even then westwood ho! never had a great charm

BringOnTheGoat · 23/01/2011 13:47

I could do the may half term at camber sands too. Bideford is a 5hr drive for me so not on for that.

I'm a smoker too Dolly - although not inside or around my DD Smile

sjm123 · 23/01/2011 15:32

I'd definitely be interested if it were within my (very limited) budget and somewhere we could get to on a train or by coach as I don't drive.

BradTittAndFlange · 23/01/2011 16:56

I am struggling to keep up with who is doing what, so I have started a thread for the holiday I will be available for, if anyone is interesed, let me know. Thanks.

DollyPantsJollyPants · 23/01/2011 18:28

Can you link it Brad?
I think camber sands is going to be too far away for us. 3 hrs is all I can stand with my kids unless they're asleep!

I have two boys aged 6 & 9 very lively boys too
(glad I'm not the only smoker!)

Prettyfull · 23/01/2011 20:29

Hi mumbar,...where abouts are you from? Would you do maybe 3/4 nights in a caravan?x

SaggyHairyArse · 24/01/2011 07:57

If one gets arranged next year for South Wales/Devon/Cornwall/Dorset then I would be interested. East Sussex a it far for me :)

ROBSING · 24/01/2011 15:05

Hi, New to Mumsnet so not quite sure what I'm doing....which isnt unusual... I'm a lone parent with 2 boys (12 and 6) and looking to meet up with other lone parents for days out, nights out etc. I live in Glasgow westend - anyone interested?

mumbar · 24/01/2011 15:08

I'm from Hampshire. Caravans are a little out of my price range I'm afraid. Gonna struggle with cost of camping but could stretch to a few days.

Prettyfull · 24/01/2011 18:36

Ah thats a shame,...well i found a holiday for £350 for 3 nights in a caravan so we'd go halfs,...if its out of your price range not to worry :-)

So when in August is your ds bday? My dd was born on Friday 13th lol x

mumbar · 24/01/2011 21:12

He was due the 12th!! He is the 19th tho!!. Shame about the caravan. It would have been fun. tbh its exiting to think of a mn holiday but think finances this year won't stretch full stop - and its only Jan!!!

malinkey · 26/01/2011 12:44

Has anyone been on a Mango holiday?

www.mangokids.co.uk

stubbornstains · 26/01/2011 13:20

If anybody's interested, I know a lovely farm in the middle of Dartmoor with bunkhouses and a campsite(not wanting to hijack, but looks like this might split into several holidays...)£5.00 p/p per night.Campfires (around which to drink wine!) allowed... We go there all the time. I have 1 baby and a campervan-and NO holiday budget!

If anyone's interested, speak up & I'll start a new thread on Monday (no internet at home, I only get to do Mumsnet on Mons & Fris..)

stubbornstains · 26/01/2011 13:21

Mons & Weds rather..

whiteandnerdy · 26/01/2011 13:22

I'm booked to go this year to Devon ... lets hope I've fully recovered from this twisted arm I've been given Confused.

whiteandnerdy · 26/01/2011 13:24

Sorry that was in response to malinkey.
