Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

Institution, sfx. All institutions stink.

sfxmum · 21/07/2010 20:54

dd's seems nice small and friendly and I got a present for helping out bless them

sfxmum · 21/07/2010 20:58

vbus/ tilly latest show on 28th is 19.40 but mon&tue latest is 20.40
what would you like me to do?
mind you that will be before adverts etc

Kewcumber · 21/07/2010 21:06

going to se toy story tomorow... have remortgaged the house to pay for three tickets and 3d glasses...

vbus · 21/07/2010 21:18

KC - I'm sure it will be lots of fun. I have to wait til we're in Wales til we can go to cinema so my mum can stay with DS2. DS1 said he wants to see Shrek3 instead of Toy Story3

Sfx - might as well book for Weds night, I may have to creep in through the adverts worst case scenario but hopefully should be ok

sfxmum · 21/07/2010 22:03

pesky itunes is making me buy too much music, well at least it is dh's card being charged on our account he might change settings after this week

vbus tickets must be collected together although I expect reception staff might hold it b=for you behind the counter

kewC cinema quite expensive but Toy Story is always good value I still gladly watch the previous 2 films

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/07/2010 20:15

Hello!

Have chocolate honey meringues in the oven. House smells of chocolate.

Had long and horrific meeting at work today. Completely shattered. (But clearly not so shattered I can't make meringues. )

Did everyone get thunder and rain?

sfxmum · 22/07/2010 20:39

yes thunder and rain several times, first just after I got back from short run then just after school run, certainly hope it improves for the weekend I have outdoor plans

meringues sound and look yummy

very quiet day here thankfully

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/07/2010 20:46

So baking time over. Do I just leave the meringues in the oven or take them out?

sfxmum · 22/07/2010 20:48

some recipes say leave in oven until cool as far as I recall oven should be pretty low anyway, some say door open
but I think it varies a lot

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/07/2010 20:57

I'll do the door-open option then.

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/07/2010 07:40

Hello!

Kids had meringues instead of cereal for breakfast . Can't be good. Meringues are though.

sfxmum · 23/07/2010 13:17

what wonderful indulgence

spent morning shopping did not get what I wanted
off to take child and friends for end of term celebratory meal

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/07/2010 13:53

sfx - it's not that bad. They usually only have cereal as a garnish to a bowl of fruits. In fact meringues probably much healthier than cereal. Certainly much less processed.

Had pumpkin cake for lunch, except it's made with butternut squash. Yum!

sfxmum · 23/07/2010 13:59

looks yum very fond of all sorts of pumpkin
dd went through a phase of eating cereal these days it is generally fruit and yoghurt and sometimes eggs, unless I make porridge, she always says she hates it but I feed her and she eats all of it while talking about something else

Kewcumber · 23/07/2010 14:12

must have an evening out to discuss our "playdate" and tea with "nazi Mom" (her description not mine!) Cannot be discussed in public but it was an eyeopening experience.

Hmm copper - not sure you can describe something made with white sugar as "less processed"! But hey if it works for you, meringue would be my breakfast of choice any day - DS had philadelphia and cheese biscuits and bread sticks with hummous for breakfast!

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/07/2010 20:01

Kew - I'm prejudiced against processed cereals.

What "playdate" was that? Sounds a bit .

Kewcumber · 23/07/2010 21:30

with a friend of DS - oh more than a bit

sfxmum · 23/07/2010 21:41

you really really wanna spill
is it like the party?

Kewcumber · 23/07/2010 23:52

oh I think you may know the mother, at least peripherally...

pcworld · 24/07/2010 07:18

Kew - I am intrigued!! Are you able to spill the beans a bit more on here?

Well, folks - here we are, all unpacked and loving Sussex life! Seriously, it is a million miles away from where we were in London, and I would never go back. I wake up in the morning to .... silence - ie NO planes screaming over the house with their landing gear down! The only sound I hear is of various woodpigeons chatting. Fantastic facilities for the kids, great school, lovely little nursery for ds next to the school - and best of all, to get there we simply walk down our road past 5 houses and down the lane to the cricket pitch/wooden park - and there we are at the school! Heaven

So - if anyone wants to visit (Kew, I know you were musing about it) - then, please get in touch and book yourself in! If anyone wanted to come by train, it is easy, just go to Clapham and change. From there it is 40 mins and we are about an 8-10 min walk from the station. Although if ds gets his way and we change the car for a minibus people carrier (extreme sigh) - then I can collect!

So - everyone set for the summer hols? Isn't it lovely to have no routine for 6 whole weeks

sfxmum · 24/07/2010 08:47

KewC the possibilities are nearly endless]grin]

pcW that sounds really fantastic, so glad this is turning out so positive for all of you, am tempted by the trip description, dd might like the adventure
and yes it is bliss not to have timetables

end of term was very nice at the school parents seemed to linger and chat more than usual at drop off and pick up, the seniors left walking down the red carpet to cheers and applause from students teachers and parents

  • one of dd's teachers was quite moved having had 12 of them as little reception class babes
Kewcumber · 24/07/2010 11:21

oh I was musing PC I was hsamelessly angling for an invite - though heaven knows whenwe'll fit it in! Perhaps I'll work out some dates and suggest some to you.

No I can't spill on here she and I are both very identifiable!

tillyfernackerpants · 24/07/2010 14:15

pc, glad it all seems to be working out for you!! I might try & do a day trip down with the ds's during the holidays if you fancy meeting up??

Sfx, thanks for organising tickets, am looking forward to it . Btw, have started the first of the Brotherhood books, not sure if I'll carry on just yet.

Am having a nice relaxing time at my parents. They've taken the boys off to the beach & I'm getting on with some studying (in between catching up on MN of course!)

Right, will go & put my name down for the other night out & then will carry on researching antenatal classes for teenage parents!!

OP posts:
pcworld · 24/07/2010 21:21

Tilly, can I send my two over to see your parents, too Glad you are enjoying some peace and quiet - and yes, do come down, we'd love to see you, there is plenty to do for the children here and I will provide lunch/tea/whatever Let me know how you are fixed, I can't do w/c 2nd Aug, otherwise am probably fairly flexible on dates.

Kew, sorry not to hear further gossip, not that I am ever one to gossip

SFX - end of term is one of mixed emotions eh - I usually get a bit teary - this time, while I was sad to say goodbye to dd's wonderful teacher, I was positively skipping out of that school
