Hello!

Tilly - well done on swimming! Can your DS1 dry himself? My DS1 says he'll dry himself when he is going to Year 1.

We have no problem going to sleep here. It's the staying asleep that's sometimes the problem. But TBH it's only now and then...

Not sure what to do tomorrow. DS1 off on school trip early so DS2 going to nursery early and home early, so we have the afternoon off. Maybe Kew, maybe anywhere as long as it's on a train, or maybe somewhere new and exciting ...

vbus · 01/07/2009 19:30

I too thought heat rash wasn't itchy...? I guess keep an eye on it, hopefully it will clear up soon

Tilly - you've inspired me, I might try taking them both sometime. Had a lovely swim with just DS2 today, only 2 others in the whole pool, luxury

Lou - sorry don't know much about these course but I saw an ad that there were things going on in Kingston for kids all summer. Don't know if that helps.

Korma, yum. Curry went down well here with all yesterday. I'm starving, I usually eat with the kids weeknights but DH said he was going to cook tonight as a treat. Typically he's texted he's going to be late now. I've just scoffed a flapjack to keep me going

sfxmum · 01/07/2009 19:43

heat rash I did not think it was itchy either

vbus hope dinner is worth
dh has many good and wonderful qualities but punctually or doing anything to any sort of schedule which isn't his own is not one of them
as a result he only really cooks when the timeliness of the meal is not an issue

slng I would really like to take dd somewhere tomorrow after nursery, so far she has been too tired and cranky, so might have to wait until Friday when there is no nursery

there was great excitement today when a child broke the fire alarm glass and the fire brigade came out, guess he will be doing that again

OP posts:
vbus · 01/07/2009 19:55

Well, learn something new re: heat rash

LOL at fire brigade trick, yes I wonder who's turn it will be tom to break the glass?

The only reason DH offered to cook was becuase he wanted to pick some broad beans at the wkend. We already had a ton of other veg we'd just picked, so I said if he wanted the beans as well then he would have to cook them

I love broad beans my mum used to cook them with borlotti beans in pod and sweet potatoes we ate them cold with barbecued meat or fish and salad very tasty especially with remoulade sauce if having fish oh yum yum

OP posts:
slng · 01/07/2009 20:25

broadbeans yum yum yum. I'm having them tomorrow lunch in my noodle salad. The kids had them twice and then slough off the veneer of civilisation. All the more for me ...

vbus · 01/07/2009 20:51

Yum indeed but DH just got home, god knows what time we'll be eating Have to confess to eating a bowl of crisps while waiting for him

Your recipes sound nice, we're have the beans with spagetti and some type of sauce, Rowley Leigh recipe

pcworld · 01/07/2009 22:02

Mmmm, liking the sound of all this lovely food. Another busy day here, it seems non-stop at the moment. Still - we will soon have 7 weeks of .... holidays ... yikes! But am also really looking forward to it.

ds is such a mini-tornado at the moment! From the moment he is up (at 5am it is non-stop. Had a lovely time at a friend's this afternoon and had to dash home pdq after a rather shocking nappy explosion all over him - and all over me! Quite honestly, it was a relief when he was finally in bed

The day petered "gently" to an end with a solo trip to Tescos for me and I staggered round in a daze. But am delighted with my bikini - finally, one that fits!! - which came to the princely sum of a tenner! Considering that I'd been looking at all sorts of fancy websites, this is a real result plus it fits like a dream. The only catch is the rather "wild" print - dh saw it and started laughing hysterically . Still, it will do the job until the perfect swimsuit becomes available somwhere.

tillyfernackerpants · 01/07/2009 22:19

pcworld, does the perfect swimsuit exist?! Sounds lovely, dh's just don't get style & fashion

sfxmum · 01/07/2009 22:34

pcW your dh needs a refresher course at husband school, start thinking of punitive measures

OP posts:
vbus · 02/07/2009 09:06

Can I enrol my DH to this husband school? We had a lovely meal but guess who ended up cooking it??? Men, eh?

PCW - bikini sounds nice, prints are en vogue and what a fab price!

mygreatauntgriselda · 02/07/2009 09:27

Hey just whizzing past - its all mad here due to end of tyerm activities. DS! WON THE EGG & SPOON RACE!!!

Just wanted to say thank you for the tip.
Found a great site if you have school aged children. Thames Young Mariners have a great range of activities.

slng · 02/07/2009 20:14

Hello!

DS1 back safe and sound and happy from seaside trip.

DS2 and me went and killed time by sitting in cafe eating icecream and playing in park. There are probably worse ways to spend a hot afternoon.

sfxmum · 03/07/2009 10:20

Hello all

Been shopping in Kingston this morning getting last min stuff for hols, yes, only 1 more week to go woo hoo

Slng - sounds like a nice afternoon

Sfx - I've decided to keep DS at preschool for Aug. We're away 2wks in France then school is closed for 2wks which gives us plenty of quality family time. I think going back in Aug will help his routine before he starts nursery in Sept. He'll also have a 2wk break inbetween preschool and nursery anyway because of the staggered start date.

Away this weekend in Wiltshire, wedding tom and then visiting some friends who upped sticks at Xmas to live in the country, can't wait to see how the other half lives!

slng · 03/07/2009 14:09

Fell asleep earlier... Still feeling a bit groggy ... Quiet afternoon for us too, I think. We have a Pingu DVD.

sfxmum · 03/07/2009 14:29

we are watching Toy Story 2

vbus hope you have a nice time
dd's last day at Nursery will probably be at the end of August

OP posts:
slng · 03/07/2009 16:55

Watching Pingu now but still falling asleep ... though Pingu describing begin shat upon by seagull is pretty funny ...

Got a shocking bill from nursery today, even though some other amount was agreed ... I wish people would get their act together. And that is putting it mildly. So bloody frustrating.

vbus · 03/07/2009 18:11

Slng - that sounds incredibly annoying.

Not sure where our afternoon went but it was fun, dancing with DS1 and have made a shed load of homemade coleslaw salad type thing to use up the rest of the PYO veg. It all has to be eaten tonight as we're away tom. I think I'll be dishing it out to the neighbours as there's so much of it!

I like Toy Story but have yet to watch Pingu the movie

slng · 03/07/2009 18:31

She was adding 200 pounds on top of what I thought we agreed. I am so bloody pissed off that I am seriously considering looking for a childminder for DS2 now. If I hear another accounting-related cock-up from them I will scream. What's so difficult about multiplying a figure by 52 and dividing it by 12!!?? AND writing down what you agreed with your client.

slng · 03/07/2009 18:32

Maybe I just need some sleep ...

Can I throw away leftover from yesterday and get a takeaway for tonight. Would that be ultra sinful?
