tillyfernackerpants · 07/04/2009 21:13

Yep, I gave up on Heroes this season. Just don't have the time or brain power to keep up with it, also considering giving up Lost!

Should've clarified in my earlier post, that I was going in my own bath, not pc's!

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/04/2009 21:36

SJ that's sounds like a fabby day!

Ros/Tilly - love the new name

Have just got back from work after a jolly at a VERY POSH hote at Heathrow Term 5. Got horribly lost on the way and nded up in Hillingdon, before making our way back to M4 and venue

Relaxing with a glass of Sav Blanc

SFX - DS1 and DD have already been on demos and in the Times with DH - they are veterans !! And DS2 has been in local paper campaigning for the NSPCC lol!!

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/04/2009 21:37

Sorry thatlast para sounded really sowy offy

sfxmum · 08/04/2009 10:28

hello all what lovely sunny day

auntie you show off pinko liberal

slng/tilly yes it is annoying and tiresome not to mention badly written dialogue on both shows

am wondering if I should take dd out of nursery for the entire month of August, we will not be going away but I think it would be nice for her to have a break before the start of big school on the other hand it is a heavy study month for me, not sure what to do

OP posts:
ComeOeufeneer · 08/04/2009 11:30

Hi all. As usual I never seem to have time to catch up on here any more. We are not having a great Easter break so far. DS has had a D+V bug since Sunday, so has DH and DD has it now too. Washing machine set to explode (as am I)! No doubt they will all be better, dh back to work and i will get it and have to deal with 2 bored kids!

mygreatauntgriselda · 08/04/2009 12:56

SFX - if you take DD out completely, it might be a shook to the system to go into school - why not reduce her ours, but keep her in p/t to give you some stufy time? Best of both worlds!

Will she be part or f/t at school in Sept?

Kewcumber · 08/04/2009 13:38

sfx - I on;y know that DS does not see missing nursery as being "a break" so it depends on how much she enjoys it. I agree with Griselda that going striaght from nursery to reception might make for a slightly easier transition.

Why not take a couple of weeks off in July around Lattitude instead?

Kewcumber · 08/04/2009 13:38

PS tent has arrived - who is going to help come put it up as a trial run?

Kewcumber · 08/04/2009 13:40

PPS have appt for gastroenterology to see why my iron and B12 is low, on the upside my p[latelets are fine but they won;t discharge me for at least 2 years apparently until they can be sure that I'm not relapsing, but have agreed to reduce blood tests to 3-6 monthly.

sfxmum · 08/04/2009 13:58

Kew glad to see there are some good news regarding your health, let's hope you have some answers soon

Kew&auntie thanks for feedback
dd only goes 3 mornings a week which seems right for her, we will be away fro the first week in May but around Latitude she is unlikely to miss more than maybe a day
Maybe a couple of weeks off before big school?
She will be part time until January

I just feel guilty about the whole business anyway I want to spend time with her before proper school starts but at the same time need the break

OP posts:
sfxmum · 08/04/2009 13:59

Kew happy to help with the tent it should be pretty simple, did you get an Outwell?

OP posts:
pcworld · 08/04/2009 14:02

Hi all! Cov, hope your Easter break improves. Like the easter name

SFX I wouldn't worry too much about dd having August off - at this end, dd will be off school for 6 weeks (she is at a school nursery) before starting big school in September.

At this end, need to actually start the running. Tried on a few things in the shops this morning - let's just say "things are not what they used to be" when I was (a) in my twenties and (b) pre-children! If I had the cash I would have a personal trainer to whip me into shape!

SJ - hooray for lovely shop assistants who like children

QC despite being a girl guider, I am useless at erecting tents

pcworld · 08/04/2009 14:04

SFX, I would ditch the guilt and do whatever feels best for you. Your dd has a good life and will be fine whatever your decision

sfxmum · 08/04/2009 14:15

thanks pcW do you mean you want to start running? all you really need is proper shoes that cater to your needs, good seamless socks and a proper bra anything else is just optional extras

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 08/04/2009 15:32

yes got the outwell oregon here, watched the video apparatnly it takes about 15 secs to pitch

Kewcumber · 08/04/2009 15:33

I am embarrased to say that feeling guilty never occurs to me. I do what I think makes us happiest as a whole - which includes my sanity, DS's need to grow and learn and the need to stay financially solvent.

ComeOeufeneer · 08/04/2009 18:15

Hi all, well dh, dd and ds are all in my bed watching "Home Alone" and eating bowls of plain rice. I have done 5 loads of washing (including 2 duvets - thank goodness for the sun), shampooed 3 carpets and disinfected every door handle, toilet, flush, floor, tap, lightswitch etc etc. Am sleeping on the sofa tonight and leaving them to it! I do so love spending time together as a family!

Kew what is the tent for?

slng · 08/04/2009 19:39

sfx - DS1 started school f/t from the beginning so I actually sent him to nursery for longer a few weeks before school so he'd get used to the hours. Not sure if it made any difference ...

Kew - tent looks good, almost as big as studio flat we had in Ealing in 1996, but where is the bathroom?

slng · 08/04/2009 19:40

cov - hope it all blows over soon!

Kewcumber · 08/04/2009 19:40

the tent is a misguided attempt to recapture my youth by taking DS to Latitude festival in July. Apparently need to camp, B&B is considered cheating.

sfxmum · 08/04/2009 19:52

slng we had a flat in Ealing in 96 it was on Hastings road tiny little thing

Kew it looks good am sure it will be a doodle to put up

I think I have almost decided to stop nursery 2 weeks before the school starts but a lot may hinge on how she is settling back after a week away

cov hope everyone gets better soon sound horrid

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 08/04/2009 19:53

helllooooooooo

kew, why, where's he gone then? ..your lost youth..
boom! boom!
sorry..
best attempt i can make at wit (in its loosest sense) after a whole day at chessington with ma famille.

you're very lucky, btw, not to have the guilt gene. reckon i must have your share..that's lapsed irish catholicism for you..

sfx, as pc said, sure dd will be fine whatever you decide.
when dd starts reception, she'll be part-time until jan too and will be doing far less "time" than she does at nursery now - three full days, 1 long morning and 1 "normal" session. god knows how i'll get my work done, but i'm looking forward to more time with her before she goes full-time.

cov..you poor thing. hope they all get better soon and you don't get ill.

my friend next-door dragged me to ikea last night..came home with my usual stock pile of napkins and things that "only cost a £1, dear..."

looking forward to a glass of vino and watching that chocolate expert bloke (very sexy, imo, is that wrong?) and the apprentice.
toodlepip

sfxmum · 08/04/2009 19:53

btw is anyone going to Kew swing this year? we have tickets for Abba night dd knows all the songs

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 08/04/2009 19:55

kew, what about if you pitch the tent in the b & b..is that still cheating?

slng · 08/04/2009 19:56

sfx - we lived in a flat on Hastings Road around 1998! Bastard landlord. Only flat we rented where we lost our deposit due to circumstances beyond our control. Hope all his properties are mould-infested. (Bear grudges, me? )
