I like the description of SBS drive from Wiltshire very seasonal

think dh is on bedtime duty must make sure he knows that

SJ99 · 29/10/2008 20:03

Mellow - had to my gloves on today for their 1st outing this season.

SBS - you must've been frozen!

Sushi - toyshop must be a sure sign that he is feeling better

Slng - forgot to say that partridge recipe from last week used half bulb of garlic for the sausce but it was so sweet you'd have never have guessed

I am trying to come up with present list for relatives for myself but am failing miserably, cannot thinking of anything that I particularly want or like (other than DS console games)

mellow2 · 29/10/2008 20:15

SJ - What about aromatherapeutic bath oils and body creams? When dd was a newborn, having a bath was the only time I had to myself and it was a real treat to have aromatherapeutic bath oils. You can get ones that can be used by nursing moms too.

We had a lovely moules mariniere dinner and it was so easy to make. I do love mussels at this time of the year.

Sj, I'm having the same problem with present list! I think I might go the boring route & ask for vouchers as I desperately need new clothes & shoes.

I had to get my winter coat out today, and as a bonus found my gloves in the pockets. I usually lose them every year!

sfxmum · 29/10/2008 20:26

I can't find my gloves don't much mind when walking around but running is another story

present list I always have books, run out of one of my favourite perfumes and I need new running shoes

think about stuff which would make your life easier/ pleasurable in the first few months
magazine subscription vouchers for treats?
for clothes after baby?

sfxmum · 29/10/2008 20:28

btw I should have new baby sleeping bags/ grobag should anyone want to use them, think only after 6-8wks but there it is should have other stuff too must have a look

rosmerta · 29/10/2008 20:30

sfx, books are always on my list as well.

SJ99 · 29/10/2008 20:32

Thanks for ideas. I'm saying no to toilettries this year as I really do have too many and always get loads for pressies. I do normally ask for books but I seem to have a backlog of books to read atm. Have got mag subs on my list plus choc Maybe clothes vouchers would come in handy...Sorry, am sounding quite fussy! Will ponder some more

Ros - bonus finding your gloves!

SushiMummy · 29/10/2008 20:38

spooky - glad the event went well.

ros - the soup sounds yummy.

sj - are you a gadgety type? an ipod?

mellow - well, remember I have a breadmaker .

sfx - did you like the photos?

well, after I posted, DS's temp went up to 41.7 . He was burning. Thank god for Neurofen, he's now watching Pingu after slept about 3 hours.

ComeOVeneer · 29/10/2008 21:05

Hi all, long time no chat! have just got back from a lovely few days at my folks with the children and am off again tomorrow to stay with ILsfor a few days. Making it much easier to keep children entertained over half term. DD has an inset day on Monday so am taking her (whilst ds is at nursery) to Kingston for a girly day - shopping. lunch and to the cinema to see HSM3.

Sorry to hear there are poorly LOs I guess it is tht time of year really, but hope they are all on the mend soon.

rosmerta · 30/10/2008 08:13

Hi Cov, nice to see you, good to hear you're enjoying half-term!

Sushi, poor ds, hope he had a good night in the end. Do you use your bread machine a lot? Have been toying with getting one but wondered if its one of those things that ends up taking up space!

Ds is very much into things are his now. He has a Noah's Ark blind in his room which he was asking about, dh told him it was Noah's Ark, ds then said "no it's Patrick's Ark"!

Think we're going to head to the toy library this morning.

spookysausage · 30/10/2008 08:37

Ros LOL at gloves - losing them is a plausible excuse for buying new ones every year though!

CoV sounds like a fab half term!!

spookysausage · 30/10/2008 08:42

Looky here - Its a big day today you know:

uk.westfield.com/ukcentres/news/AboutWestfieldLondon.html

This is only two stops on the tube from my workplace!!!

mellow2 · 30/10/2008 08:53

Yes, I'm definitely going to try and visit Westfields. It's got a lot of food outlets too. Yum!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 30/10/2008 09:06

I'll definitely be heading over there too! Didn't realise it was so close to opening.

sfxmum · 30/10/2008 10:56

good morning all

I see everyone is in shopping nirvana

cov that sounds lovely be great when I can do girly days with dd
hope poorly LO's are rallying

dd has a light cold and protest against going to pre school but once there run to the door, then inside decide to complain again and say she was scared to stay, then went off to do painting

hope everyone is well today

sfxmum · 30/10/2008 13:40

does anyone have great plans for tomorrow? dd is extra keen on dressing up so am up for anything even hosting a lunch/ tea with costumes or maybe heading to Kew?

mellow2 · 30/10/2008 14:39

Sfx - We would be up for something but I'm afraid dd doesn't own any costumes, not until Christmas anyway.

SJ99 · 30/10/2008 15:45

DS is worse today unfortunately. He has a rash so I took him to the docs this morning, the doctor suspects could be a teething symptom or maybe just viral. Thankfully he ruled out measles, chicken pox and meningitis which I was worried about. He actually slept through the night but had two fits of crying inconsolably for 30-45mins today which he hasn't done since he was baby and first started teething at 3mths, he's obviously in a lot of pain

Rash could take 24hrs or a wk to clear up, doc couldn't confirm if contagious so best I keep him home til he's better. I feel so helpless

rosmerta · 30/10/2008 15:57

sj,

sfx, ds at nursery tomorrow & afternoons seem to be prime meltdown time whether he's had a nap or not so best give it a miss. Thanks anyway

mellow2 · 30/10/2008 16:28

SJ - Sorry to hear that ds is worse. How long does it x take normally for his teeth to come thru?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 30/10/2008 16:50

oh no poor mini SJ what is it with the viral rash? seems to be the current diangnosis for everything
hope he feel better soon

did not have great plans but dd seems keen on putting on a costume of some sort so I thought I would take her to Kew avoiding C&C as much as possible but walk about a bit in wellies unless its raining in which case something at home would be in order

sfxmum · 30/10/2008 16:52

mellow costume not mandatory, dd will need fleeces and tights with her flimsy man made fibre fairy dress

spookysausage · 30/10/2008 19:06

SFX we will probably do trick or treat at about 5.30/6pm so other welcome to join us. Will just be DD and DS2 as DS1 is "going out" with his friend to an event!

Let me know if you are interested (that applies to all)

SJ - your poor DS have you given him the Ibuprofen/Calpol alrenating doses to make him feel more comfortable? Coudl also try Medised at night so at least he can get some rest.

Its hard for you as well, being extremely PG and looking after a sick child

bunyanvillas · 30/10/2008 19:38

Oh dear, SJ - do hope there's some improvement soon. Hopefully he might turn a corner quite quickly, fingers crossed that you all get some rest tonight.

SFX, we'll be at Kew tomorrow morning with a few others so it would be great to see you if you're around. Apparently there is a little parade for the dressed up children at C&C.

ds was up from 5am again today and crap today, his sleep is shot to pieces!

Sausage, hope you enjoy the trick or treating, will be fun and hopefully a respite from the current work stress.
