Hello

That is great news Sfx

Nice to bump into you earlier Bunyan, hope your LO finally droped off for you

Slng/Sfx - Will email recipes to you but don't really have one for chappatti, I just make it up(!) but you should have one on back of packet. Slng - paneer is easy but can also go wrong easily too. MJ book is great

Mellow - thanks for tip, will check out Pack mate once I have worked out what size bags I'll need

Hoep everyone enjoying their weekend

bunyanvillas · 16/08/2008 20:18

Wey hey - congratulations, SFX! Is the room a symphony in pink or not just yet? SJ no, ds didn't drop off, in fact he was beside himself with excitement about goodness knows what until bedtime - the little legs going like pistons! And dd was a complete nightmare all day despite outings to the park and swimming pool. So I had both of them in bed by 6.30pm, dh fell asleep at the same time and so now I am having toast and tea in front of the X Factor! Oh dear. But planning to start the new Cormac McCarthy book in a mo, looks promising.

slng · 16/08/2008 20:46

Congrats sfx and mini-sfx!

Been to party all day. very exhausted. DS1 seems to be going through a ignore-everybody-and-speak-only-chinese-to-mummy phase. Is that bad? I don't mind it myself but feel a bit guilty and slightly paranoid that people will think it's me encouraging him ...

sfxmum · 16/08/2008 21:10

hi all it seems today was a big bonding with daddy experience, I went out early and they put the bed together, by the time I got home they were decorating. vetoing non pink items except for the Thomas poster

they also cooked dinner together ans have plans for tomorrow, she is now in her bed and wants daddy to read the bedtime story I feel left out

let us see how the first night goes but she is all excited about the new bed/room.

but she also bumped her her or rather something heavy fell on her and has a huge bump, don't think I will rest much for the checking up

sorry about the me me, dh was just saying 'seems we are out of the baby stage'

slng it is pretty normal for kids to do that only silly people will object you can alway do the token encouraging noises

SJ thanks/ waves to Bunyan

sfxmum · 16/08/2008 21:11

pics on FB but not of finished product

bunyanvillas · 16/08/2008 21:18

Ohhh SFX - daddy is numero uno in this house, you know, and I am very much a second class citizen at weekends ("daddy days") Enjoy having a break! Hope dd's first night goes well, try not to worry yourself too much. All the little (big) stages bring out the old emotions, eh? Will have a wee peek at your pics in a mo. Surfing property in the west country at the moment. I really need to get a life

A**E. Can't even stick up a post properly. Think am over-tired despite it being only 9.30!!

sfxmum · 16/08/2008 21:21

I want to live in the West Country too are there any gorgeous huge country pile type stuff with loads of acreage? must picture self very rich in fetching lovely knits
(post massive lottery win plans)

yes daddy daddy daddy shame in the middle of the night is MUMMY!
bless them

bunyanvillas · 16/08/2008 21:24

Actually I was rather thinking of starting up the old knitting again although can't imagine producing anything too "fetching" although we'll see. Hmm have been looking at some fairly low budget stuff, will up the ante to see what I can find for you. Were you thinking min 8 bedrooms and something that needs a ride-on lawnmower?

sfxmum · 16/08/2008 21:27

don't know abut ride on mower but definitely garden staff who look good without their shirts on.
8 rooms good plus staff quarters

slng · 16/08/2008 21:35

sfx - first night in big bed ds1 fell out from a gap about a foot wide in rails. Don't think he ever realised it himself though. And never did it again. Very perverse child.

slng · 16/08/2008 21:37

Bunyan - I'm tempted by knitting from seeing a book in the library teaching older kids how to sew and knit. Big and colourful pictures. Make it look possible...

bunyanvillas · 16/08/2008 21:40

I need to knit some big chunky jumpers for our pending move to the country (ha!) Used to do a lot in my teens as I was v rock 'n' roll - but it was fairly basic stuff - batwing jumpers!

sfxmum · 16/08/2008 21:40

falling out of bed is to be expected guess

I knit scarves and baby booties can't think last time I knitted anything else by I do like dong it very therapeutic.

sfxmum · 16/08/2008 21:41

actually booties are crochet

mellow2 · 17/08/2008 09:04

Hi sfx,
I was tearful too when dd moved into her own bed. We finally propped up a couple of stools next to her bed as she falls off her bed so much she wakes herself up and she won't go back to bed.

rosmerta · 17/08/2008 09:05

I enjoy knitting, just can't seem to find the time for it! Slng, I have a good book if you do fancy learning.

Sfx, how did dd do on her first night? Know what you mean though, I had a he's not a baby anymore when we just went to look at beds and that combined with the potty training just tipped me over the edge . Oh, and its daddy here as well!

sfxmum · 17/08/2008 10:29

good morning all

first night in big girl bed quite a success we decided against bed guard although she has used one for the past few months in her cot.
she trashed about and talked a lot as usual but only woke up twice asking for water. dd seemed very pleased with herself this morning when she walked into our bedroom to check if we dad were awake

dh got up and I stayed in bed recovering from night wakefulness, they baked a chocolate and banana cake, now in the oven I think they have plans for later yeppee

slng · 17/08/2008 10:56

Well done mini-sfx!

sfx - we baked this seriously low fat chocolate cake. Very nice and easy and does not taste low fat! I imagine it to count towards the five-a-day too

sfxmum · 17/08/2008 11:09

slng you have an infatuation thing going with Dan don't you/? looks delicious pears and chocolate are a great combo thanks

sfxmum · 17/08/2008 11:11

btw slng have you ever done Nigella's orange chocolate cake? it is flourless very pudding like and utterly gorgeous, it is a version of the scrummy Clementine cake
as a bonus the house smells amazing while you are baking

slng · 17/08/2008 13:47

sfx - those are the only cake recipes I have apart from Annabel Karmel and Delia, and to be honest, we have "moved on" from Annabel Karmel, and I only ever do Delia's carrot cake. Have never tried any Nigella's recipe but will try the chocolate one one day! I really don't like shop-bought chocolate cakes. They always have a funny after taste. I wonder why.

Besides, Dan's a genius! All his recipes work.

slng · 17/08/2008 13:48

DS1's ill. Sore throat and has thrown up everything he's eaten and drunk. Asleep on the sofa now.

rosmerta · 17/08/2008 14:11

slng, poor ds, hope he feels better soon.

I second Nigella's cakes btw. In her Feast book there is a great section devoted entirely to chocolate cakes!
