erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

It is freightening to see little ones to lose so much weight in a short period of time, isn't it? Hope Gherkin-kun puts his weight back on soon (I'm sure he will). Anyway, what I was trying to say was that Asian/Oriental kids tend to have slight structures compare to European kids and my DS is not an exception - he's narrower body structure than most.

SJ99 · 15/11/2007 14:33

Ds ribs have always been on display with the exception of when I was exclusively BF, he was slightly fatter then. DS was never really that interested in solids and since introducing them his weight gain has been slow. Plus he experienced a few bad illnesses in 1st year and lost a bit of weight.

He tends to grow lengthways more than widthways. But given I was only 5lb when I was born it is quite feasible he has my genetic body structure and will also be small

sfxmum · 15/11/2007 16:42

managed to drag dd to the shops and she got a new Percy bribery is a desperate form of parenting I know, but I needed to get out

fitfox · 15/11/2007 18:39

sfx what is a Percy?

Mine have skinny ribs too. Well the older two do anyway. Chubba has chubby ribs

sfxmum · 15/11/2007 19:22

Percy is a friend of Thomas and they all live in the island of Sodor

Kewcumber · 15/11/2007 19:56

foxie - hadn;t meant to ignore your suggestion of a lodger but its a bt more logistically difficult as I have a smaller house than yours only one living room and it would mean renting out the room right next to me with the bathroom being used adjoining my bedroom.

I just hate sharing my spare so much that I'd rather cut right back on luxuries to avoid doing it. It is on my list if all else fails or if the blasted economising gets too much. I have also thought of doing temporary lettings to Kew Gradens students (think they do short courses) but I think I may have to provide breakfast/dinner which is logistically an impossibility! Ibarely manage to feed DS and myself!

Paddlechick666 · 15/11/2007 20:10

evening all. god I'm knackered!

meeting went really well today tho and I am really pleased with the results. not least because A) i didn't fall asleep B) i managed to stay on the ball and make some good contributions C) i didn't have to rush out and home to dd!

dd still pretty poorly, okay in the day but coughing as teh evening draws in. she was exhausted today and asleep by 7pm but i've already been up there once.

have dosed her with benylin night time cough and hauled out the old humidifier and got that going. just hope i don't give her legionnaires disease as it's the old filter

sorry to hear paddle hope dd & you manage to get some rest tonight

dh feeling a bit poorly tonight but managing not to over react that is my job these days

Paddlechick666 · 16/11/2007 07:28

oh well, despite the good wishes we had another dreadful night.

dd was up at 9:30pm and finally settled in bed with me about midnight. after virtually non stop crying and flinging herself around. poor little thing.

we both dozed off and slept fitfully till about 6am when dd demanded to go back into her cot!

not too much coughing and no vomit so good result on that score.

i feel like death today. was still working when she woke last night so hadn't had any supper or anything........

OP posts:
sfxmum · 16/11/2007 09:16

good morning all

paddle sorry to hear about the disturbed sleep and glad no vomiting happened. are you able to take it easy today?

here the lack of sleep was just me, completely unable to sleep until 3.30 despite feeling very tired indeed. I predict a cranky day.
dd was very upset that dh left before she woke up, kept saying 'but daddy needs a hug and a kiss'

sfxmum · 16/11/2007 09:34

just looked in my inboxso glad she got in touch

Paddlechick666 · 16/11/2007 09:41

thanks sfx, just planning a bit of shopping with Kew this morning then a cruisy arvo at home while i make a lasagne for dinner.

comfort food!

yes the email, very relieved to have heard but oh so for 2cute.

hopefully we can all catch up in RL soon and offer some support.

your dd is such a cutie eh!

Hi all, have been avoiding MN the last couple of days so I can actually get some studying done!

Am so so for 2cute, I wish there was so much more we could do for her.

Ds has had a pretty bad cold this week, seems to be a bit better today but yesterday he barely ate anything and in the afternoon just snuggled up with me on the sofa and we watched Monsters Inc . It sounds awful but when he's ill there's part of me that likes it because he gets so cuddly!

Don't know what we're up to today, hope everyone else is well

QuintessentialShadow · 16/11/2007 12:05

Ooh, Found you guys! Thansk rosmerta.

On my way to Kew retail park, if anybody wants to meet up. will be there from 1 pm to 3 pm!

SJ99 · 16/11/2007 12:46

Hello all

2Cute's email is just so How do you even start getting over something like that?

Paddle sorry you had a disturbed night, hope tonight is better. Have fun shopping.

Hope you get some zzzz's too SFX

Last night's meal was very nice, lovely food.
Swim this morning was great, Ds went underwater today, all went well apart from the swimming backwards, he's still not keen on that.

DS also loves Percy, Thomas, James & Toby - he knows their names, numbers & colours

MrsRecycle · 16/11/2007 12:57

Hi QS - would love to come but ds is ill with croup at the mo. He just can't settle - I've had to prop him up in the cot.

pc - hope tonight is more restful and your dd is feeling better. ds has his dehumidifier on at the mo although I nearly got a steaming kettle last night poor thing. You just can't do anything for them.

KC hope ds is feeling better.

Yes email from 2cute was so heartbreaking - we do need to try and get over there and see her. I remember in the darkest depths of my depression one of my friend's knocking on the door and asking if I wanted to go out for a walk. I declined (hadn't washed for weeks!) but I have never forgotten about his kind gesture. It actually spurred me into getting medical help for my illness. A change of scenery would probably do her the world of good.

sj, apparently once babies start to crawl & walk etc, they don't like going on their backs, especially in the swimming pool. Ds was always too wriggly to go on his back, I'd end up half drowning him!

SJ99 · 16/11/2007 13:23

Hi Ros, yes Iheard that too. I don't force DS to go backwards if he really doesn't want to. He doesn't like it but isn't crying or anything, I tell him to kick his legs and look at the lights on the ceiling so that helps take his mind off it. There is one girl in his class who just screams her head off when she goes backwards, poor thing.

Hope your Ds is feeling better today

sfxmum · 16/11/2007 13:25

Kew retail is very busy today just popped in/ out to grab a couple of things. we are both a bit tired and emotional

SJ that sounds nice, really must book classes for dd have been really lazy about it.

stepfordwife · 16/11/2007 13:38

hi everyone
how you all diddling/

yes, very for 2cute.

hope rerspective dcs are feeling better

SJ - happy birthday for yesterday..
QS sorry, not at reial; park this arvo
just a quickie as on blued-arsed fly mode at mo
got new carpets upsatirs so a bit high as love smell of new carpets
trouble is don't want anyone to actually wlak on them - right, surely levitating is just mind over matter...

SJ99 · 16/11/2007 13:39

Not going anywhere this afternoon, must cook and clean the house as my parents are arriving tomorrow!

Any chance of grabbing a power nap SFX to recoup some energy?

Don't think DS going to nap today, he slept late til 8.30am and I can hear him doing frog impressions from his cot will get him soon.

SJ99 · 16/11/2007 13:43

Thanks Steppie

LOL! You could all start wearing those blue plastic shoe coverings to protect your new carpets

sfxmum · 16/11/2007 14:08

speaking of carpets mine of carpets the one in the living room is so stained it is hard to see if it needs hoovering, perhaps an advantage

SJ power nap sounds good but my toddler just does not do sleep during the day if I drop off she just pokes me in the eye repeatedly while shouting 'mummy open your eyes wake up'

who would have thought finding gloves for dd would be so hard must resort to JoJo again i think they last and are snug. she could also do with a couple of jumpers, but dd's idea of shopping is standing in front of mirrors saying how pretty she is
