erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

Well I got Ds from cot, poor thing was v.clingy, red hot and coughing, temp of 39 deg He refused any cough medicine & asked for all his clothes to be removed.

Luckily I stocked up on Swedish medicine before we left and have given him some 'bottom pills' as I call them. They're brill as it means he has the right dosage (unlike spilt cough medicine) and they seem to be doing the trick. He's defo lots brighter within the hr and is playing now, phew. Maybe all tehtiredness just caught up with him.

Hope your DS is ok Mrs R after jab.

Will be nice to meet you Bunyan

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 15:59

govt planning guidleines site

SJ99 · 28/11/2007 16:00

Kew were you a property developer in a past life??!

MrsRecycle · 28/11/2007 16:01

My friend has a garage that her dh can convert into their bedroom (they are sleeping in the dining room at the moment) in a matter of weeks. Easy! Nope planning has been declined even though its an existing structure - something to do with taking their living accommodation over a certain percentage. Yet the house next door (and all along the street) has converted the garage and built on top of the garage and converted the loft...

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 16:02

very good pdf on Richmond council site

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 16:03

nope SJ but this is my third house and have done work on all of them!

SJ99 · 28/11/2007 16:04

Good effort!

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 16:14

are you sure its not changes to local planning department rules?

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 16:14

anyway plannign dept at Richmond council will give outline advice and can be helpful if you go in person and get the right person on the day!

ComeOVeneer · 28/11/2007 16:18

Hi all. I have been stuck indoors all day with ds (climbing the walls) waiting for a bed to be delivered and it still hsn't arrived. DS is all excited at sleeping in a big boy bed tonight and now it is looking like that may not happen, so bedtime will be a barrel of laughs (actually I doubt it will be much fun if the bed does arrive either).

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 16:34

am I a bad girl for keeping DS in a cot as long as he physically fits in one!?

stepfordwife · 28/11/2007 16:38

..only if he's tethered, kew....

stepfordwife · 28/11/2007 16:41

thanks for all the building advice, kew and mrsR...
mrsR, may well get that phone number off you, maybe should get the architects' plans done first.

ros..much as i would prefer to eat cake, work on tues and wed. damn it (janet)

poor ds, sj, sounds like he's perking up, tho.

stepfordwife · 28/11/2007 17:02

hey, fox.
where are youuuuuuuuu?
are all thjose teeth through, yet?
(ds2's that is, not yours)

ComeOVeneer · 28/11/2007 17:25

Kew ds turns 3 in a couple of weeks and we are putting him in a bed as he is really to big for the cot. That is if the bl**dy thing ever arrives!

fitfox · 28/11/2007 17:52

However, the planning regs are about to have a massive shake up, whereby planning permission will not be needed for many run of the mill extensions anymore, particularly if other similar houses have had similar work done. Gov consultation paper due out shortly on that.

Sushi - I think 2 storey extension on one storey house might still be tricky? I grew up on North Road (my Godmother lives in one of those bungalows)and the noise from the trains is pretty constant. I like trains and it didn't bother me, but just to warn you. I am quite at how much those bungalows are selling for! But I guess that's Richmond price for you. Have you looked in Manor Grove - nice Victorian 3 beds (althugh again one side backs onto railway).

QC - your description of DS's night last nightsounds like a description of my DS2 every night for the past two months Constant waking up screaming and demanding to be cuddled. Just add a demand for your nip in his mouth and two very sharp teeth and you get the picture! - very impressed with yor planning knowledge BTW - you would get on with my Dad, who could talk about planning legislation for hours, if only someone wanted to listen. He has planning magazines going back to the early 1980's which he still enjoys reading

SFX - are you still beow 12 weeks - if so they will se you pronto at the Early PCy Unit at QC - they are excellent there and can scan you internally to check all is well. BTW I bled throughout my last two pregnancies. Very unnerving having to check for sotting every time you go to the loo but I am sure it will be OK [massive cyber hugs to you]

SJ99 · 28/11/2007 19:55

Ds is still in cot, I'm going to leave him in as long as poss whilst he's happy sleeping there. I've noticed he has recently started sleeping with his head at the same end of the cot as when I leave him. Before he used to wake up in such random positions which really put me off moving him to a big bed as I was worried he would wriggle out of bed every 2mins.

Good luck with move to big bed Cov

SJ99 · 28/11/2007 19:57

Ds seems to have made an incredibly fast recovery, fever disappeared within an hr and he was happy playing. He was tired by the end of his day but not grumpy at all. Let's hope he has a good night and fingers crossed that's the end of his illness

slng · 28/11/2007 20:24

When we moved ds1 into a big bed when he's about 2.8 - it's a top bunk of a bunk bed but put on ground level so has rails all the way round except a small gap where the ladder should be - he fell out of the small gap the first night! It's astonishing what they can fall out of. But he's not done it again.

Ds2 has been the "right way up" in his cot since we gave him a pillow. Don't know why...

MrsRecycle · 28/11/2007 20:30

sj - glad ds is feeling much better. My ds has been crying and has not taken it at all well poor thing. He's off his food as well.

foxie - I wondered where you were as well! Sorry to hear about ds2 - any plans for a move yet?

COV - don't worry about the bed - he probably won't sleep in it anyway. dd2 had the most beautiful bed going and insisted on sleeping on the floor - its still her favourite place now (and she's nearly 7).

slng - agree about the pillow - ds certainly sleeps a lot better with is (and the right way!).

Paddlechick666 · 28/11/2007 20:31

evening all

didn't manage to get home tonight before dd went to bed

she's still okay in her cot altho occasionally tells me she wants to sleep in the big bed. i will probably transition her into her cot bed after xmas.

altho, that might happen sooner if i can't actually get her cot back together when we move!

jeez i am tired tonight........

sfx, hope you're feeling better now.

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 20:37

well DS appears to have gone down OK (so tired he kept falling over!). Will go off and find boiler man number now. Paddle can you email me the phone number of that carpet place - I have found a laminate there I like and silly sods haven't put their phone number on the sample.

Kewcumber · 28/11/2007 20:39

I've heard from her - she's fine just has something going on (can't say here). Mind you she's still been able to wind up the anti-section brigade
