erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 28/11/2007 20:50

before you ask - no she's not pg!!

fitfox · 28/11/2007 22:28

MrsR - oooh you have me intrigued now [nosy emoticon] sounds juicy...

MrsRecycle · 29/11/2007 08:27

and its not juicy either!

fitfox · 29/11/2007 08:53

Oh how boring!

Had an exhilarating swim last night ...

fitfox · 29/11/2007 08:54

Every time I go to my swimming lesson there is one other student - always a man and always a different man!!!

I told the tutor last night that's the only reason I attend - to get a different man each week LOL!

bunyanvillas · 29/11/2007 09:16

Morning' all ...
SFX - how are you today?

SushiMummy · 29/11/2007 09:44

Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

Many thanks for the building tips and advice, ladies! If we can convert the garage/workshop into an office, we won't need an extension, just major refurbishment, I think. Yes, foxie, I was thinnking about the train noise, too. Do people get used to it? Anyway, I'll let you know after viewing the house on Sat. [excited emoticon]

SJ - glad DS recovered v quickly.

CoV - good luck with the big bed. DS and I have been sleeping on his sigle bed last few weeks as he refuses to sleep in his cot. Maybe after Xmas we'll try to leave him there on his own (with a safety guard).

SushiMummy · 29/11/2007 09:52

MrsR, hope DS gets better soon.

MrsRecycle · 29/11/2007 10:32

thanks Sushi he's perked up a bit - he was singing along with the girls this morning - typical his first song he can sign is "Together" from High School Musical

slng · 29/11/2007 10:33

Sushi - re train noise - we used to live in a ground floor garden flat, small garden, and at the end of the garden was the paddington-Bristol line. You do get used to the train noise, and you do get used to having gaps in conversations/TV/radio which you can't hear when the bristol express thunders past ... So it is disruptive but you get used to it! Much like living under the Heathrow flight path...

SJ99 · 29/11/2007 12:13

Morning all, how is everyone?

Well it was wishful thinking the fever would disappear so quickly. Ds woke up at 10pm coughing so I went to see him, he was red hot again I took off his sleeping bag and he drank a cup of water, I stayed with for an hr and he evetually fell asleep.

Being cautious, esp with DH being away, I rang NHS direct for the 1st time in case I needed to take DS to hospital. The 1st person I spoke to had no medical training and convo was unbelievably frustrating. After 30mins she eventually transferred to a nice male nurse who within 5mins told me everything I needed to know, phew.

Went to bed at midnight, got woken up at 5am as Ds must've set my alarm clock for me earlier in the day He had more water at 7am and slept til 10am. Still 39 degrees, although not himself he's quite lively for someone who's that ill. I guess we just have to wait til fever passes over next few days.

Glad your DS is better Mrs R
Good luck with house viewing Sushi, I'd say you can get used to the noise but I wouldn't put up with it if I didn't have to, the house would have to be pretty special...

MrsRecycle · 29/11/2007 12:38

Oh no SJ - poor thing. Yes I've learnt my lesson with NHS Direct - as ds is my 3rd child I never ring them as they are next to useless (dd1 was ill with pneumonia and they sent a paramedic for anaphylactic shock because I said her mouth was swallen). It is worrying when you're on your own though isn't it and you just want reassurance. Hope he gets better - definitely best off that he didn't have the MMR.

Kewcumber · 29/11/2007 13:25

slng - not sure that the (very slow) district line is the same volume as the London to Bristol Intercity! Go stand in teh garden and house and listen sushi.

stepfordwife · 29/11/2007 13:34

happy birthday, dear gherkin, happy birthday to you, haaaaappppppy birthday, dear gherkin, happy birthday to you..

Kewcumber · 29/11/2007 13:37

thank you - I sang to him this morning though he doesn;t know its his birthday as present cake etc are on Saturday.

Photos of his birthday last year on my profile - a bit different this year...

stepfordwife · 29/11/2007 13:37

hi everyone
how you all diddling?
kew - many happy returns to your beautiful boy..what a difference a year makes, eh?

sfx, how you doing today?

sj, hope ds is better..

paddle, i feel a bit knackaroonied today, too. that old chestnut. taking on too much stuff to do, not getting it done as quickly/efficently as you want/then feeling a failure.

and grumpy

dd has been in her own bed for yonks. well, to be more accurate, she's had her own bed for months but, of course, sleeps in 'mummy-dadady-dd's-bed.'

kidded myself i was going to do some christmas shopping today but the flesh wasn't willing..and nor was dd.
ho-hum

stepfordwife · 29/11/2007 13:39

x-posts about what a difference a year makes!
told dd it was his birthday today and she's been singing;' happy beeday, d-d. happy beeeeeeeday. him 2 now!"

MrsRecycle · 29/11/2007 13:40

HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear dear Gherkin - where has the time gone? Have lots and lots of birthday cake on Saturday!!

rosmerta · 29/11/2007 13:40

Mrs R & SJ, hope the lo's are feeling better.Have to say whenever I've used NHS direct they've been really helpful! It was because of them that I'm finally getting a problem of my own sorted after being fobbed off by the drs so many times!

Ds has taken ages to settle down today but seems to have finally gone off. As I'm away this weekend I thought it would be nice to take him out for his tea this evening.

rosmerta · 29/11/2007 13:41

Wow, I took a long time to write that last post apparently

Happy birthday Gherkin!

SushiMummy · 29/11/2007 13:42

Happy 2nd Birthday, Gherkin-kun!!! Are you home celebrating, QC?

Slng - thanks for the advice. The story reminds me of the Concords flying over our house but I actually didn't mind that much, tbh.

SJ - poor mini-SJ! Hope he gets better soon.

QC - well, that's DH did last night. He said the Silver link train was a bit noisy. We'll see what's like in the house.

How are you, sfx?

Kewcumber · 29/11/2007 13:45

no - bad mummy didn't take the day off, which is why he doesn;t know its his birthday. He is having an official birthday on Saturday just like the queen!

Paddlechick666 · 29/11/2007 13:57

sj, sounds just like dd was when she was sick. raging temp but not a great deal of lolling around being ill! lots of demanding stropping around instead

sfx, where be you today?

happski birthday to Gherkin!!!!

dd happily told Grandma all about JuniorSJ's party yesterday. Talked all about it and remembered names etc. So then Grandma says "oooh how lovely. so is LittleSJ 2yrs old too?" dd got quite indignant "NO! I TWO!" she yelled!

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 29/11/2007 14:29

foxie, now if you'd told me hunk of the week was a feature of swimming lessons, it would have been a much harder sell...

rosmerta · 29/11/2007 14:41

I see steppie's trying to bring the tone down again
