You must live very close to me Mitchy!!

Mitchy1nge · 16/03/2014 13:42

ooh how close? have we met?

it's an unnervingly small world at times! PLEASE don't recognise any of the horses if they are being silly in the high st or something at some point, or if they did a poo on your doorstep Grin

OP posts:
petalpower · 16/03/2014 13:49

No don't think we've met!
Is it just your horses that live 'very near' to Boundary Farm or are you in Debenham?

Mitchy1nge · 16/03/2014 14:01

between Boundary Farm and Debenham

I have just launched an exciting new Dog Walking And Other Pet Care venture in Debenham itself though

(am not very good at guarding my anonymity on here but this thread will disappear soon anyway)

is mad to find people from such a sparsely populated area on here isn't it!

OP posts:
petalpower · 16/03/2014 14:08

Is your new venture connected with the new vets near the doctors?
Yes, it's a bit freaky!

Mitchy1nge · 16/03/2014 14:13

nooooo

as soon as I hit send I thought I ought to qualify with something like 'nothing to do with the are-you-coming signs that were everywhere'

I only realised the other day that they were in the police station Shock where have the police gone?

OP posts:
petalpower · 16/03/2014 14:23

I don't know where the police are now. Probably cut back I should think!

ProfYaffle · 16/03/2014 14:57

Re the Johnny Depp thing, there was an article in the local paper saying the sightings were actually a professional look a like. The whole tone was 'sorry if you got confused folks, I just can't help looking sooooo like Johnny!' so I don't know if he was actually responsible for all the sightings or whether he was just trying to boost his profile by tagging onto a genuine visit.

LESuffolk · 16/03/2014 15:41

Thank you POTC and Butkin

I could pretty much list the whole of Suffolk as a 'it's pretty' namecheck Smile.

Well I have just had a 'celeb' encounter in that Mark Wright just came into the restaurant we were eating in and we overheard him ask the manager if he would move us from where we were sitting so his entourage and himself could have the window seats. The lovely (and not celeb-struck) manager refused and said he expected us to be some time too.

So thank you to the lovely manager of Prezzo in BSE where all customers are treated like celebs. And no he didn't pay me to say that Grin.

Dawndonnaagain · 16/03/2014 16:42

Prof Apparently his children attend an independent school across the border.

ProfYaffle · 16/03/2014 17:02

The looky likey? Wink

LESuffolk · 16/03/2014 17:04

Johnny Depps children attend school in France where his ex wife Vanessa Paradis lives.

There was a JD lookalike in Fram a couple of years ago. The real JD ate in one of the Stradbroke pubs a few years ago. The landlady sold the story to ALL of the papers........ which meant he never came back which meant she got lots of trade! Amanda Donahoe lives(d) in Strad and used to travel to our village to use the Co-op. I am friends with a now divorced couple who live nearby and used to be in Soldier Soldier. DS2 has additional needs and when he was small a lot of people wouldn't have him at their parties. R&R were wonderful and used to ask him to their children's parties. They were also very kind and wrote to me when my father died. Nigel Davenport lived nearby when I was small and I used to play (though can't remember) with Jack Davenport while our parents drunk in The Low House! Grin

LESuffolk · 16/03/2014 17:10

What kind of person doesn't have a child at their parties because he has additional needs? The mind boggles Lottie and I am sorry you experienced that. Even if sometimes a child's behaviour is noisier or less predictable than a person is used to, where has the milk of human kindness gone?

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 16/03/2014 17:15

No one famous lies near me AFAIK
but then I'm old and not very up to date so i could be living in the same village as some pop star and I wouldn't know!

I did win a prize at the local fete a few years ago and it was presented by Jimmy dough docher the one with the farm.

LottieJenkins · 16/03/2014 17:18

LESuffolk It was quite a few years ago. I thankfully had a handful of friends who were very kind. DS2 didn't understand all the presents weren't his and wanted to undo them. The husband of the SS had a very unique of distracting DS2.......... he used to stick him under his arm and charge round shouting and pretending DS2 was a battering ram which produced shrieks of joy from him! DS2 once saw him on Heartbeat at school and rushed out of the tv room and grabbed his housemother and told her his friend "Rub" was on the telly! (he couldn't say his name properly!!)

RuddyDuck · 16/03/2014 17:23

LESuffolk I have no idea who Mark Wright is, but the head waiter in Prezzo, BSE, called Kevin, is amazing. Was it him who refused to move you? good for him or his colleague.

I do think Prezzo in BSE is a lovely building. We took friends from Oz there last year and they couldn't believe they were eating in a "chain" restaurant in a 400 year old building. They also couldn't believe the size of the Nutshell pub!

ProfYaffle · 16/03/2014 17:24

Ah, yes, Fram I remember now. Our resident celebrity always used to be Rick Wakeman, he turned up everywhere, post office queue, tea shop, switching on the Xmas lights etc. I haven't seen him for ages though so maybe he moved.

Richard Mabey seems to have stepped into his shoes now though I was very disappointed to spot him shopping in Morrisons. Bob Flowerdew asked if he could nab our table at the cafe in Dunwich when we were leaving.

LottieJenkins · 16/03/2014 17:25

Mark Wright!

SUFFOLK IS SO PRETTY
LottieJenkins · 16/03/2014 17:26

Rick Wakeman lives at Scole and walked past me on the platform at Diss recently!

ProfYaffle · 16/03/2014 17:27

He's still here then!

LESuffolk · 16/03/2014 17:34

Ruddy No it was the manager as they insisted upon speaking to the manager but you are right, Kevin is lovely, all the staff were lovely and the building is beautiful- you are right and we are very lucky to dine in such surroundings.

I had the prawn and lobster pizza and Gelupo ice cream in a brioche

I was pleasantly surprised with Prezzo. Not often I find myself in a chain restaurant with so many delicious sounding options on the menu.

I love Richard Mabey's books.

Lottie Thank goodness for good friends. They sound very cool.
