Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

I hope that somebody finds me ..... Smile

Hello!

Found you!

Scarf vid is so cute.

vbus: fresh & modern = clinical & utilitarian. No conflict. Grin Get pale laminate floor. Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/11/2011 14:25

Too many Grins. Hmm

vbus · 03/11/2011 14:32

Copper - Grin I meant I want it to be light and bright and he wants it to be dull grey. Pale laminate/wood might be a good compromise!

Are you having a party for your birthday??!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 03/11/2011 15:02

hello there you all are

oh blast I assumed since I could not open the link on my phone Blush

nearly pick up time, playdate after I think

vbus I would go for bright light, grey flooring unless it is slab of gorgeous rock might looks odd unless uber expensive imo

Kewcumber · 03/11/2011 15:17

dull grey looks like concrete and always looks grubby. You are welcome to come and look at my red larch laminate in teh kitchen. Light and practical IMVHO

vbus · 03/11/2011 17:30

Kew - couldn't agree more, tell DH that Grin hope you had good holiday

Thank I need to go to Kingston tomorrow to suss out presents for all, lists are being demanded by rellies and purchases to be made.

Sfx - I remember this time last year you looked after DS2 while I did mad trolley dash and bought 10 presents in a short space of time Grin Hoping to appear more organised this year Hmm

OP posts:
sfxmum · 04/11/2011 15:38

hello all

not much going on here apart from study, looking forward to picking up my girl who was feeling a bit despondent this morning because she thought she might have to play some football, 'that boy's game I hate' Hmm

sfxmum · 04/11/2011 15:39

oh vbus yes, he was so little then, dh was a good helper then Grin

stepfordwife · 04/11/2011 16:57

hello!
why, thankyou, thankyou for well-deserved plaudits for my selfless mothering...and, tilly, exactamundo, my friend...i left them the non-chocolate ones Grin

vbus, oh yes, it's all decisions, decisions, decisions, isn't it? remember angsting over everything then, of course, once it's all done you forget all about it and get n with living in it!
.....grey slate tiles on our floor if that's any help...welcome to view....might even run a mop over 'em first Grin
toodlepip

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/11/2011 18:46

Hello!

Had DS2's friend + most of his family over this pm. Fun was had by all. What good eaters these kids are. Everything polished and gone in 20 minutes. Smile Helps if you starve them first, I guess. Grin

Dinner last night at Baozi Inn. Yum! And only came to 10 pounds. Shock

sfxmum · 04/11/2011 19:38

sounds good copper, here dd goes through phases of barely eating and occasionally eats all that is put in front of her

I am very short tempered today and really occasionally have a burning rage, wish I could vent Grin

vbus · 05/11/2011 11:44

Sfx - vent away, that's what we're here for Grin

Copper - looks good, you're making me hungry again

Steppie - hello! Piccies please as not sure when I'm your way next! The only problem I have with grey, although it would look fab with new kitchen, the room is mostly N facing so I think grey would give off a cold vibe. I have found a cloudy light grey with yellow tinges that I like. This is part of the problem though, too much choice! the search continues

Anyone going to fireworks tonight? We might head to one at local school provided it's not raining as it starts & finishes early

sfxmum · 05/11/2011 12:31

Vbus we are off to Ravenscourt Park as usual, made some parkin mid week so should be lovely today

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/11/2011 19:51

Hello!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We didn't do anything bonfire-related. But cycled to pub today and my legs ache. Haven't cycled for a long time...

No spooks tonight. What to do!?

sfxmum · 07/11/2011 16:29

hello how is everyone?
it has turned quite Autumnal, the dreary part of it when it all goes grey Hmm

mostly stressful weekend here and much annoyance all around, best get it together and move on I guess

So, are well all meeting up at some point before Christmas? could do with the distraction. Vbus/ tilly cinema trip for nonsense film? Wink
might pop to Westfiled tomorrow and get a couple of Christmas presents, but still need to study tonight

vbus · 07/11/2011 19:23

Hello

Tilly - nice to see you earlier, we had lots of fun!

Sfx- funny we were just talking about cinema trip today, it must be done Grin

Copper - hope your legs not to achey today

Doing b'day/xmas lists, can anyone recommend any good fiction books for DS1? Was going to get this any other suggestions?

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 07/11/2011 21:00

Hello!

vbus - DSs never got on with Michael Morpurgo's books. I don't know why. They like Beast Quest, How-to-train-your-dragon, Beano, Mr Gum etc - books with an element of disgust... Oh and I got Richard Dawkin's the magic of reality for them for Xmas.

So tired ...

sfxmum · 07/11/2011 22:16

vbus yes lets Grin
about books, apart from the Gasket family, The Potter Books, assorted CSLewis, dd has a collection which I would have to look into in the morning, she has a huge collection of Fairy books which she reads herself, tedious books but she likes it.

copper the Dawkins book sounds good, she asked for and got a children's Bible so all even.

must catch up with running thread those folks are turning me into a proper runner

vbus · 08/11/2011 12:21

Thanks for ideas. DS1 has got lots of fairy tales and he likes Dragon book although finds it a bit scary. He has tons of non-fiction which he loves to read but I wanted to get him more fiction to tear him away from his study of atomic theory Grin

My 'free' time up, must go and get DS2 now. School project this afternoon, good we to have something to make on this wet dreary day.

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 08/11/2011 12:27

Hello!

vbus - ask DS1 to give a lecture on special relativity when he gets to that, thank you. DS1 is also scared by stories. No Stephen King just yet then.

I'm going to try them on detective stories, but library seems lacking in them. Will be reserving more books when the current load is cleared. Grin

sfxmum · 08/11/2011 13:35

Copper have you heard of the Wilma tenderfoot books or the junior spy thing can't recall name, will check when home later.
Got dd's presents sorted and bought a dress for myself Wink that is enough Westfield for me. I am not a natural born shopper

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/11/2011 15:07

sfx - not heard of Wilma tenderfoot but will try. On my list are Emil the detective, Saxby Smart, and Jack Stalwart (some american spy thing). Famous five or secret seven don't seem to go down too well. But maybe other Enid Blyton.

tillyfernackerpants · 08/11/2011 20:55

Here you all are, thought the other thread was v quiet & then realised it was full!!

Vbus, ds1 likes the Dirty Bertie books, also the Usborne abridged versions of what are considered classic stories such as The Railway Children, Robin Hood, Treasure Island
