Vbus shame about missing the crops, I have been harvesting the baby tomatoes from upstairs they are lovely.
Went shopping with dd and some playground time. It is supposed to be raining tomorrow. Must think of something maybe cinema.
Next week must make a trip to platform 9 3/4 Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/08/2011 16:46

Our cherry tomatoes are still green. They seem to be taking a long time. Is that normal? Never grew tomatoes before.

vbus · 03/08/2011 19:22

Copper - Our tomatoes are still green, they do take a long time to ripen

Really want to go for a swim tonight, haven't done any exercise for ages, my thighs are missing the school run power walk 4 times/dayGrin

OP posts:
sfxmum · 03/08/2011 19:27

copper yes tomatoes can be slow, these are tiny and tasty but only get a couple every week

vbus desperate for exercise I tell you but the only certain time now will be on Sunday when dd goes riding, and maybe Saturday early morning. must bribe dd to follow me on the bike.

think will enter the Richmond park 10k in October to give something to aim for

vbus · 03/08/2011 19:34

Dh got home too late last night to go to gym, hoping he'll be back by 8pm then I can go for a dip.

Good luck for 10k. I wish I could enter but my exercise is so random i.e. I go when I can, that I couldn't stick to a training plan. Maybe next year when DS2 in nursery!

So you didn't try zumba yet?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 03/08/2011 19:44

no not yet, it has been difficult to drop child with husband particularly when he decides to work from home, he does not clock off and drives me nutsGrin

ok entered the race now 22nd of October, should make me stick to a plan

Kora · 03/08/2011 20:35

Hi everyone - sounds like the festival goers had fun, apart from a few not so pleasant camping neighbours. Nothing beats the time DH and I were surrounded by Slipknot obsessed bongo players at Reading festival (we were young and childfree) and when they finally shut up at 4am, the heavens opened, and we discovered tent leaked! I'll never forget it raining on my face as I lay shivering in my sleeping bag... So, we abandoned the tent and went to stay at a friend's house in Reading for rest of festival. Blush Inspired by your adventures though. As soon as DDs old enough, we shall be back on festival circuit - I hope Smile

I went to zumba last week - really good fun, but now they've stopped for hols. And this week's aqua fit class was off too - tried to go and was turned away! Just when I'd got pumped up and ready to exercise. So I've had a takeout and a biscuit instead. Grin

Quick school uniform question. Should I be buying a polo shirt for every day of week? Apparently the more the better, but just wanted to check. I've got a couple with logo for skirt days, but most days DD1 will wear a pinny so plain white should do. Hoping I can find multipacks!

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/08/2011 20:35

Hello.

DS2 in the dog house - I've decided that I've had enough of rudeness and violence (well, mild violence) and we are having a crack down. Zero tolerance. That kind of thing.

vbus - saw your pics. So your tent is same as ours?

DH does clock off from work earlier than in the office if he works from home. Children far too distracting. Grin

Kora · 03/08/2011 20:35

By the way, good luck with race sfx!

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/08/2011 20:37

Hello Kora!

I buy 6 shirts to allow for mishaps and laziness. We have been known to fish out worn ones from laundry basket. Blush

Kora · 03/08/2011 20:37

I have to hide in my bedroom when I'm working from home. General pattern is slightly lazy in the morning, then mad panic in afternoon! Grin

sfxmum · 03/08/2011 20:44

Kora I get multi packs from M&S they are perfectly fine and wash well, unlike the logo ones from school. I do have 5-6 on the go and do a white wash at the end of the week, works for me
Also as they start in September I also keep a summer dress (blue check)
For PE I get cycling short for summer and yoga pants&warm tracks suit bottoms for colder days, along with plain white scoop neck Tshirts also all from M&S of John Lewis
dd usually asks to have a pair of trousers but she seldom wears them and they grow short awfully fast

do not buy shoes until near the end, might be less choice but at least they fit, I go to One Small Step in Sheen I like the service, get shoes and a pair of trainers for PE, they don't mind which as long as mostly white and fuss free

sorry about gym disappointment, norty treat Grin

sfxmum · 03/08/2011 20:45

also make sure they have plenty of socks/ tights/ pants little children are a menace with them and them there is the God of washing machines to feed

sfxmum · 03/08/2011 20:47

nearly 9pm, noises from dh's general direction 'I am doomed, doomed I tell you oh so doomed' Hmm

Kora · 03/08/2011 20:49

Right, we'll be shirts ahoy then. Thanks copper and sfx! Great tip about the summer dress, my mind was on autumn term but you're so right! Must get head round all this stuff...Confused

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/08/2011 20:50

DH out to see cycling chums tonight. I am contemplating harvesting garlic chives + flowers for quick omelette supper.

Kora · 03/08/2011 20:52

sfx - poor dh, hope it works out! Grin

vbus · 03/08/2011 21:30

Copper - yes I think we ended up with same tent, if not very similar? Was very pleased with it! Our old tent was the size of the smallest bedroom in new tent Grin but only weighed 3kg so was perfect for trekking

Sfx - give the man a biscuit and a whiskey cocktail Grin

Kora - well done on making it to zumba, too bad it's all winding down though. I bought 6 shirts as DS1 seems to get completely messy on a regular basis, no stress about washing them in time for next day.

Back from swim, lovely. Now need to catch up with torchwood

OP posts:
sfxmum · 03/08/2011 21:36

he is still at it will keeping an eye on Twitter, that might explain somethingGrin

off to look at vbus pics

tillyfernackerpants · 03/08/2011 21:53

Kora, has the school sent you a uniform list? At ds1's school they can only wear polo shirts with the logo on and black plimsolls for pe so might be worth checking. But agree that M&S are good for uniform and JL for school shoes.

Am missing swimming, dh away for the week so can't go at all. I think tomorrow after ds1's swimming lesson we might stay & play in the outside paddling pool for a couple of hours!

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/08/2011 10:35

Pretty wet out!

Just came back from swimming. May do library later. What to do about lunch?

sfxmum · 04/08/2011 10:50

we are still with wonky bedtimes, dd was in bed at 9 lights out half hr later, did not come out of bedroom until gone 10, eventually it will all go back to normal but is fine by me as it is for now

no plans for today, next week we have a couple of days planned going into London for Tate & British Museum, one of those must include platform 9 3/4, which unfortunately was moved to a much less impressive and convincing site.
I suppose it works better for commuters

vbus · 04/08/2011 11:44

Bedtimes seem to have normalised with us now but will change again when we go to France Grin

Sfx - Enjoy museums, hope they won't be too busy

Copper - I'm going to make omelette for lunch with more stuff from garden

Too soggy to do anything much, have started packing as we leave 5am Shock on saturday

OP posts:
sfxmum · 04/08/2011 18:26

vbus courgettes saw this and thought of you Smile

dd had a lazy pyjama day but I have been doing chores

vbus · 04/08/2011 21:15

Sfx - thanks, loads of great recipes, will keep for next time. In the end I just roated with garlic (squeeze of lemon) along with potatoes we dug up, served with salmon, delicous!

DS1 did golf and go karts at club today, he really enjoyed it. Fed up of packing, going to do toenails and watch tv.

Hope everyone had good day.
