Tilly - Lollibop should be lots of fun, I nearly booked tickets but realised it's when we're away

Sfx - great news about bikes, and now you have some spares too! Festival was brill wasn't it? Sorry we lost you Sat night but we still went to Big top, DS1 loved DJ Yoda Grin

Did unpacking and laundry this morning and then neighbour invited us over so did that this afternoon. Hope everyone enjoying the sunshine Smile

vbus we were there too enjoying the set, it was pretty good. On Sunday we met dd's school friends mum and siblings but missed the girl, so easy to do.

Although we enjoyed it all of it we felt it was a different vibe this year, less chilled out family vibe than last time. we might try camping plus next year

tillyfernackerpants · 01/08/2011 19:32

vbus, funnily enough the boys just wanted to be inside today Confused they kept going out to the garden but coming back in after about 15 mins, think it was too hot for them!

sfxmum · 01/08/2011 19:34

meant to add Tilly sounds good just make sure the children are prepared on handling crowds and the possibility of getting lost.

sfxmum · 01/08/2011 19:35

I fully intent to spend as much time as possible at Kew Gardens tomorrow, don't care about the showers forecast, dd is saying no but indoors doesn't quite suit

vbus · 01/08/2011 19:47

ddin't realise forecast was showers tomorrow, thought it was going to be hot all week [optimistic emoticon]

I found the festival to be very relaxed, lots of fun all round. I overheard someone say the camping plus sold out super fast this year Shock. We were lucky we had a good spot just 5mins walk from the arena, made all the difference. The boys said they liked playing with minisfx Smile Will post some pics later

Tilly - put the kids in bright colours and write your phone numbers on their arms

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/08/2011 19:53

vbus I think overall it was and I did love it but we saw a few fights between parents, completely wasted in charge of young children and we saw police intervention, was not aware of that before although I n=know there were notices of social services working closely with organisers to watch out for such things. seems quite a good approach

dd liked the boys too although she thinks maybe ds2 is too old to be babysatGrin maybe if he has a younger sibling she says

tillyfernackerpants · 01/08/2011 19:54

Thanks for the tips, was also going to take a photo of them on my phone before we leave! I imagined that as its an event designed for children they would have wristbands etc, but will make my own just in case.

We might go to Kew tomorrow, will text you sfx if we do

sfxmum · 01/08/2011 19:55

tilly yes to photo we took a full body each day too
wrist bands are useful I think but generally in such events, other parents are watchful and helpful too

UptoapointLordCopper · 01/08/2011 20:17

Hello!

Glad festival goers enjoyed themselves. The weather was good for us too - camping in Buckinghamshire. Can't do Kew Gardens tomorrow though. Have a nice time!

vbus · 01/08/2011 21:06

Copper - we're going to Kew on Fri as a group, can you come then? glad you enjoyed camping too

Sfx - Shock at behaviour, didn't see anything like that. In fact I said to Dh it was the poshest festival I'd ever been to Grin and was really well organised. LOL at DS2 being too old to be babysat, I was counting on her for future sitting arangements Wink

Tilly - don't rely on wristband, DS2 had his off within 10mins Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/08/2011 09:51

Can't do Friday either...

vbus - Did you use new tent?

I write names on kids' arms and also put pieces of paper with phone number in their pockets. Not paranoid at all ...

vbus · 02/08/2011 10:10

New tent was great, and pretty easy to put up thankfully!

Off to library now and haircuts for boys. Paddling pool and gardening this afternoon I think

sfxmum · 02/08/2011 12:32

dd still a bit fragile, will pop to shop to get some ice lollies and greens for lunch, the shopping arrives near dinner time today

hope everyone is well

vbus · 02/08/2011 13:51

Got turned away at hairdressers Shock Only one man in shop today and he couldn't cope, oh dear

Tilly - pity about Fri Sad Are you doing circus scheme? Ds1 seemed v. excited about it

Seem to have got through 3rd load of laundry since returning, phew. Garden is thriving tomatoes coming through, dug out next load of potatoes and more rocket and radish for lunch. 6 more courgettes to collect when DS2 wakes up

OP posts:
sfxmum · 02/08/2011 14:04

passed my examSmile huge relief although not overly happy with result, still considering I thought I would fail 60 is a reasonable markHmm plus 75 on the rest of it
now must pick next course

really quiet time for us today, maybe too quiet will make an effort to start earlier tomorrow

sfxmum · 02/08/2011 14:05

about Friday is anyone else still coming along?
this week is kind of open for us so likely to be flexible

vbus · 02/08/2011 14:10

Sfx - well done Smile you have earned your Wine for tonight!

I'll be going on Fri, Islandhaze is coming and KC

OP posts:
sfxmum · 02/08/2011 14:13

thank you although I think I will pass on the Wine had a look at our photos and oh dear Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 02/08/2011 15:15

Vbus, ds1 is doing the circus scheme, its the 3rd year he's done the summer reading scheme & he really enjoys it. Library were doing badge making today as well, ds2 picked a spider, ds1 a skull, the rest were girls doing flowers, butterflies & stars Grin

sfx, bonus on washing space! We've ended up having a quiet day as well. Tomorrow we're going to a picnic beach party in our local park so that will be a busy day

vbus · 02/08/2011 16:25

Tilly - party sounds fun, is that with Toy library? We did reading scheme last year too, also seem to vaguely remember some balloon making event

Boys only spent 15mins in paddling pool and are now camped out in front of tv, I think the tiredness is finally catching up with them. Quite fancy joining them but must get on with the ironing meanwhile

Hello!

Kids in bed. Me nodding off ... zzzzzz

sfxmum · 02/08/2011 21:00

dh working from home tomorrow (why?!!) so now have to sort out going out with dd for the best part of the day

vbus · 03/08/2011 13:16

Hello

Sfx - so what did you decide to do for the day? At least it's warm and sunny out

DS1 at camp the next 2 days so some of DS2 friend's came round this morning. I need to sort some building stuff out now and pop to my parents who are away to water their plants. Need to think of more courgette recipes as have more crops. The damsons are now falling but I fear most of the crop will be ready while we're away, no jam making this year Sad
