We're off to Oz tomorrow for three weeks . only decided to go fairly recently and only told kids the other week as couldn't bear dd asking "how many sleeps...."

I haven't been since I was pregnant with dd, so looking forward to it and will be dd's first visit. having (finally) completed a tricky commission am now trying to summon up the energy to pack and sort house for our friend who's house-sitting. last-minute merchant, moi?!

Lazy day so far. Kids still in pjs.

finally managed a disgraceful jog quickly set up a training plan for the 10k at least I have 10 weeks to be less disgraceful

dd slept till past 9.30 and so did I, dh was off running and is off sculling soon, so very active

will take a more relaxed approach for the rest of the afternoon
but tomorrow the plan starts

Kora - I managed with 3 polo shirts for a very long time then added anotehr 3 in the second hand sale.

Don't buy the black plimsolls they tell you to as they haven;t worn them... not once. Our trainers are navy and they have handily doubled as school shoes at the end of term when he outgrew his school shoes and I was too tight to buy new ones.

TKMaxx have some greta shoes on at the moment I bought DS some leather hush puppies (same style as he had last year) for £20 vs £35 full price but they have limited sizes and styles (I didn't look at girls)

we saw the new foal at Stag Lodge so so cute must have been born this week
we spent a great deal of time dodging rain, it was quite heavy rain

we are all exhausted but it was a fun day out, dd is doing well with her horsy skill
she wants to do Ballet but I would rather send her to some other kind of dance and movement class

btw next weekend there will be Olympic bike folk doing race training at Richmond park if anyone is interested

Absolutely not going to think about anything related to school for at least a couple more weeks. And absolutely not going to even listen to anything to do with the Olympics. Am going to stash up DVDs to watch during the games.

Went window-shopping in Brent Cross yesterday. Bought skipping rope at Early Learning Centre: "Is it for a boy or a girl?" they asked. WTF. Gender specific skipping rope.

what day is 28th? Just had a sudden thought that it is bank holiday weekend and we are away? Will go check now.

28th is a Sunday I only know that because that is the day after we get back

Sfxmum do you know any more about the Olympic cyclists in Richmond park next weekend? DP and I usually go cycling there at the weekend and I quite fancy training with some Olympic athletes going along for a gander.

they are putting up crowd barriers etc
we have something booked for the park and the usual is to cycle or run there but we were warned that there will be route restrictions, afaik the route is from Roehamptom to Richmond Gate.
I plan to look at their website for details/ timings

Evening all! So sorry I didn't make the meet-up at Kew on Fri. Vbus, we ended up being sooo hectic last week I hardly knew what day it was! Lots of days out and beach action ahoy! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer hols. I can hardly bear to think about school either, copper - in fact it is firmly off the agenda until the very last minute! Steppie - have a great time in Oz, how exciting. We have the swimming crash course this week so it's a good incentive to get up and out early So what is the beach at Twickenham, is that the bit along from the Barmy Arms that was being redeveloped?
