Kew Grin@ your aspirational reading

Copper - Grin never wise to slag the waiting staff before they serve your food Wink

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/09/2010 08:38

School still shut today. Hmm

vbus - thanks for tip. I've got a camping list off the web and won't forget to take along our poisonous snake antidote.

Shelf is up! Sort of. It's not going to fall to bits in a hurry, so that's good enough.

sfxmum · 08/09/2010 11:01

hello

sorry about shut school that must be inconvenient wouldn't they know there would be rain? surely not a new problem

am trying to find motivation to go clear up my clothes closet, I suppose I will not find it in here...

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 08/09/2010 11:05

Motivation for sfx: go and clear up clothes closet!

vbus · 08/09/2010 11:06

I have just cleared all our old clothes, so if I can do it you can too Grin

Really annoying with school closure

Ocado van is late Angry

sfxmum · 08/09/2010 11:07

yep on my way with bin liner in hand

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 08/09/2010 14:28

sfx - how many bin bags then?

I'm perversely envious - I want to clear out stuff.

vbus · 08/09/2010 14:32

Does anyone know where I can get some more empty jam jars? Maybe JL or do Wilkos do them? Running out!

sfxmum · 08/09/2010 14:49

vbus I think even Ikea does them and Robert Dyas perhaps Cargo?

lorcopper only one bag for rubbish and one for charity shop, could do that again was not too ruthless have loads more things whihc are too big
but I baked some breakfast muffins

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 09/09/2010 10:29

I have some from my jam making vbus - you're welsome to pick up anytime.

vbus · 09/09/2010 13:02

Thanks both but went and bought some today as was getting desperate, need to finish final batches tonight!

DS1 started school today Smile Smile Smile All went well despite some anxieties before breakfast. I was not emotional as I thought I would be and enjoyed a relaxing and productive morning with DS2

sfxmum · 09/09/2010 13:16

hello all lovely to see sunshine again

kewC did you find Ds's fleece by front door? left it there yesterday after school as we were going that way sorry for lack of warning but I did text you

vbus is it full day? well done DS1 Grin

this week has been about adjusting to new routines,dh went to school meeting Tuesday night and almost everyone talked about the religion and death issues, the head answered most of the questions it seems

next week it all starts in earnest with after school clubs, stricter meal planning necessary I think

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 09/09/2010 14:06

Oh bolloccks I forgot Blush was out at kew taking in the last (?) of the sun...

School on Monday Shock

vbus · 09/09/2010 14:07

Sfx - he does half days this term so he has to get used to getting up early Grin

Swimming also starts today so will head to that later.

As it happens, pool rang me to say DS2 lesson will be postponed til next week so could've come to massage after all, d'oh. Too late to arrange for someone to look after DS2 now though, have fun

sfxmum · 09/09/2010 14:20

kewC I will be at school on Monday should you like an extra tissue but have to head to town afterwards, hairdresser at 10

vbus I might not go don't fancy do it on my own

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 09/09/2010 14:48

i really enjoyed it when dd just did mornings for the first term as had that time together before we picked ds1 and ds2 up from school.

i think us lot will have to be given a map to find our way back to school Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/09/2010 14:53

Hello all!

Brief respite between work and picking up kids.

Is homebase the worst garden centre in the history of garden centres?

(1) The staff has never heard of green manure.

(2) The staff look horrified at being asked about seeds.

(3) The website lies about having things in store. "Maybe it said they've got it in bigger store" blah blah blah. They think I can't f**king read.

(4) They smell.

tillyfernackerpants · 09/09/2010 18:10

copper lol @ homebase diatribe (is that the right work?!)

sfx, ds1 did start school yesterday. First day went well, today he's broken his wrist by falling off the monkey bars!

sfxmum · 09/09/2010 18:40

steppie - wave are you back yet? am sure the traffic will look tame by comparison

tilly hope it heals fast he will be showing it around the playground nowGrin

lordcopper homebase is not really a garden centre, were they young and spotty or just plain dim and under trained?

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 09/09/2010 18:47

tilly - hope he's OK and hope you are over the shock!

sfx - a combination of spotty (but polite), sullen (but perfect skin), ignorant ("is it a vegetable? is it a plant?"), and not terribly interested. In fact by the end of it even I have lost interest... It was on my way back from the office, otherwise I wouldn't have.

vbus · 09/09/2010 20:00

Tilly - zikes!! one way to make an impression Grin Hope he is ok

Steppie - are you still in Indiaaahhhh?

tillyfernackerpants · 09/09/2010 20:35

He's ok, said it was hurting this evening but we can give him medicine to help with the swelling. He did like being xrayed & seeing his bones Grin I think the school felt a bit guilty, esp as it was the headteacher who'd been on duty & saw it happen!! But he's likely to be in a cast for at least 6 weeks.

vbus, meant to say, glad ds1's first day went well Smile

sfxmum · 09/09/2010 20:39

bless him tilly 6 weeks is an eternity at that age, are cast still itchy these days?

we have started having homework again but I am quite happy with the way they have eased into the new year, it is very cute watching the new Reception children arrive each morning with tearful/emotional parents

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 09/09/2010 23:20

generally pain dies down very quickly (veteran cast wearer!) and he willprobably forget about it pretty much in a week. Its you that will be doing all the extra work - working out how to bath him etc - theough I supose not so bad with a wrsit cast.

Hope he;s feeling better soon.

dustythedolphin · 09/09/2010 23:59

Copper the Homebase staff are probs all students and hate working there Wink

Tilly give massive to DS1 from us
