Wow we filled the thread guys. So as I was about to Say UR you've probably had squirrel if you've eaten Chinese . Think I've had most things. Just don't ask eat. Roasting hot here, very busy but having a blast. Enjoyed our new gym yesterday and picnic in the park tonight which was wonderful. Live music, handsome young men - need I say more.

Hang on just googling Oregon City - my US geography is v v poor...

Guess its us NW ladies lurking here this eve then..!

AnnieLaurie · 30/12/2008 04:15

Oh, no going to use Google earth - much more impressive

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:29

I just googled. I had no idea where Ann Arbor was. No Detroit. I thought they were both on Lake Michigan. Which is stupid as I've driven around the southern part of the lake so I know they are not there

I need to start reading my atlas instead of books.

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:30

Nor Detroit, not no

AnnieLaurie · 30/12/2008 04:36

See what i mean about this thread. My post will now disappear, sinking into the google earth witticisms and witterings, never to be seen again....

dooneygirl · 30/12/2008 04:36

Geography lesson for everyone tonight?

I don't think Oregon City is of importance to much of anyone to know where it is. Just think Portland if that helps. Don't google by the river, that part is a dump. I'm up top and right on the border from suburban to farm land. It is very pretty this way.

I love quinoa. I usually have some in the house at all times.

The garbage will finally get collected tomorrow. After 3 weeks. I had piles of non-food or stinky garbage in my house. A lot of Christmas wrap. Stupid snow. How did you survive the snow in Seattle, Annie Laurie? I love Seattle. DH doesn't like it. He hates traffic.

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:42

I read your post, AL! And responded, sort of, in my wittering about googling. Sorry.

It probably won't make you feel any better but my 3 yr old has suddenly decided he must be carried everywhere. And often pretends to be a baby. And he doesn't have a sibling on it's way.

AnnieLaurie · 30/12/2008 04:43

The snow here has been unbelievable. Been stranded in the area we live in, would have been having lasagne out the freezer n xmas day if kind neighbours had not taken us in!

Was very pretty for about 2 days, then really wanted snow to go away!!!

dooneygirl · 30/12/2008 04:48

I know what you mean. I only was able to leave the house twice in 2 weeks. Fortunately I am a crazy food hoarder was pretty well prepared, and only had issues with perishable food items that DH was able to get for me at the store.

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:51

I get like that too - it's pretty to begin with but when it stops you doing things the novelty quickly wears off.

Has anyone seen Cold Mountain? Should I watch it? I want to see it for the music but need to know that the story is worth it.

dooneygirl · 30/12/2008 04:53

Where's Cali?

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:57

Yes, it is a movie. Nicole Kidman and Jude Law iirc.

Cali has gone swanning off on vacation according to her FB page. She didn't inform us, did she? Hope you are having fun, CF

dooneygirl · 30/12/2008 05:01

Oh. I don't do FB or MS, as I think I'm too old to "get" them. Not how they work, just why they're there.

I am lovely happy right now. DH got me a plug-in blanket, and MIL got me one of those blankets that you zip and snap and basically turn into a really heavy blanket-robe, and I'm finally warm. They both got me heavy socks, and DH got me a decent pair of gloves. I've only ever had those cheap ones that are small and stretchy and 99 cents.

dooneygirl · 30/12/2008 05:08

DH didn't know what FB was. Now THAT'S old.

alipiggie · 30/12/2008 05:11

AnnieLaurie - you made it welcome to the US. I moved here from Scotland too - but not Scottish. Both my boys were born in Glasgow although you wouldn't think so to listen to them at all. True little Americans. You'll soon get into the swing of things over here and it's so easy to make friends with little ones around. I'm sure you'll settle in soon.

Thanks alipiggie! I am going to have to sign off for tonight, can't keep eyes open any longer. Having real pg insomnia, woke at 4am last night and couldnt get back to sleep so muuusssst go to beddddzzzzzz.

Will make effort to check into this thread more often!

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 14:26

I set up a FB account then deleted it then opened it again.

This time it is much better. Initially people just threw sheep at me but now people use it for messaging and I can be nosey and see who is doing what. It's quite useful for me to keep in touch with friends from the UK.

jabberwocky · 30/12/2008 22:48

Welcome, annielaurie! You know that you can have a midwife birth complete with birthing pool here if that's what you want. Actually, from what I've read of UK births you will probably love the private room and pampering afterwards. Take advantage of the nursery to get lots of naps as your little ds will want all your attention as soon as the new lo is asleep.

Cold Mountain, yes, see it. I thought it was quite good.

Dh has taken the boys out to the park. I really want school to start back now

mananny · 30/12/2008 22:57

I'm a really happy (and broody) nanny cos I have a new part time job all lined up and it's with a newborn! I spent an hour last night with a barely 4 week old baby girl nestled into my ample bosom, she was so teeny and delicate compared to my chunky and solid twins! I am going to celebrate tonight with a Baileys milkshake (sooooooooo goood!!!!!!) and Mamma Mia on demand. Simple pleasures LOL. But oh my goodness I am so looking forward to having a petite to look after again! She's still got that yummy newborn smell and is so teeny and delish.

Good grief I NEED a husband so I can have a baby.

mananny · 30/12/2008 22:59

Plus i just watched seasons 1 and 2 of Gavin and Stacey. And I cried.

SuperBunny · 31/12/2008 01:01

HOORAY, Mananny! Well done! A baby, a tiny little baby to cuddle and sniff. Ohh, I'm broody too. Congrats! Must be such a relief.

I love Gav and Stacey. I cried a bit in the last one and I don't often cry at things. And, even though I knew it was coming and thought it really wasn't funny, I did laugh a lot when they slipped on the floor

Thanks Jabber, will watch it then.

AnnieLaurie - how long have you been over here?

What are you all up too tomorrow night? I think we'll go to the zoolights thing in the early evening but nothing else.

dooneygirl · 31/12/2008 01:09

We're so lame in the dooney household that I was sitting here wondering for a very quick bit why you wanted to know what we are doing tomorrow night.

I'm still recovering from Christmas. I really went overboard this year. I've only ever had 5, so I'm still new to it.

mananny · 31/12/2008 01:16

LOL at Dooney

I'm doing nada tomorrow night. Can't afford it. Don't want a hangover. Am going to watch tv, chill out, drink some prosecco and have a long bubble bath. I just don't really fancy going out and my flatmates are all away. Sad and tragic? Probably. Bothered? Not a jot.

dooneygirl · 31/12/2008 01:20

Oh, I forgot. We were almost on the local news today. We were at the Bob's Red Mill store, and they wanted footage of people going in and out. I think they came and talked to me because the kids were all bundled up and cute in their coats and hats and boots, and basically my life is a walking Wonder Pets episode, because they are always singing about what they're doing and dancing. It would have taken them a bit to set up, and I said no. I just watched the news, and it would have been about a 2 second or less shot.

The building was damaged in the storm, and that is why they were there.

SuperBunny · 31/12/2008 01:25

Mananny - that sounds like a lovely night. I shall do the same.

Dooney, you must think I am incredibly nosey! How exciting, almost being on the news!
