That has got to be the funniest post ever, OR. I never got the pleasure, because mine all wanted to come in sideways, so they all got dug out. If you are teething at 30, does that mean you can make all the older generation women happy and rub whiskey all over your gums to make them feel better?

alipiggie · 01/02/2008 04:13

OR I know I shouldn't have laughed but I did. SittingBull, I'm sorry we haven't chatted in ages. Still waiting for you to visit me in CO. My news guys - OR already knows. I'm moving into an awesome rental in Boulder - Mountain Lion territory here we come. I'm so thrilled. Boys are too. No more cr*y commutes that take 90 mins for 14miles in the snow/ice like this morning.

Juggling work and small children is a pain, especially when you've got an h that decides that his new lover takes precedence. He ho, there goes my night out.

Yes, a wisdom tooth

Honestly, I have felt like I had flu. I desperately want to gnaw on something but can't find anything suitable - needs to be long enough to poke to the back of my mouth, squishy enough to chew on but firm enough to provide some relief. I may have to get over my phobia of wooden spoons because it's the only thing I can think of...

I suddenly have a new found compassion for slobbery, whiney, unhappy & inconsolable babies.

Bring on the whiskey.

Will report back when I am feeling even more really better

Hi, thanks for asking, not feeling too bright today. My anti-emetic medication has run out and I have something akin to morning sickness. If I don't feel better later I will get DH to call by the chemo clinic and ask for some more anti-emetics.

At least I don't have anything particular to do today so can languish theatrically on the sofa.

I think I'm falling in love with Colin

dooneygirl · 01/02/2008 17:00

He's pretty easy to fall in love with, I'm afraid. I got a call from his school yesterday, as they're already doing registration for next year, and want to see what class I want him in. The teacher was telling me that the last day he went, she was on the ground having a problem getting one of the toys to work. He came and bent down to her level, and said "I see you're struggling, can I help", and patted her on the back. She thought that was insanely funny. I put new pics on my profile of the 2 of them, if you haven't looked lately. One is of him doing his "silly face".

Sorry you're not doing well. Please go on languishing theatrically on the sofa.

anorak · 01/02/2008 19:00

I've been sitting around feeling crap and feeling sorry for myself all day and now Colin has made me smile.

Hooray for mumsnet

Hi everyone. Yes, I'm ready for Groundhog Day - Open House and packing for my big move. Nope nobody's bought the house, I've had enough of living here and went for it - New Year, New Start. New Man????? Hopefullly . Anorak, sorry you're having a tough time. You're in my thoughts often and I do hope that we all get to meet up one of these days. So who's watching the Super Bowl then??? Nachos/Beers at the ready.

dooneygirl · 02/02/2008 04:01

You made him feel better, too, Anorak. He wasn't so much of really better today, as his cough returned pretty much full-strength. He was happy to see his name again. At least his breathing isn't impacted.

I'll repeat my earlier question: Wooden spoon phobia?

I'm boycotting the Super Bowl. I boycott anything having Eli Manning in it.

OverRated · 02/02/2008 05:36

Oh dear, I was hoping to let the wooden spoon thing disappear... I have an intense and completely irrational dislike of them (and various other things but we'll leave it at wooden spoons, shall we?). They make me cringe and want to pull my teeth out. I cannot have one in the house. I do not want to hear that my food has been stirred with one. Just thinking about them makes my teeth hurt. I know: [loon emoticon] But don't worry, I am suitably

Who's Eli Manning and why does he need to be boycotted?

Dooney, don't be horrid - Eli is only twelve years old?

anorak · 02/02/2008 15:46

Califrau, the trouble with those reactalite things is that they react too slowly when you're driving. It's murder when you go in and out of tunnels on a sunny day, you get temporarily blinded while you wait for them to react. You did the right thing.

My DH has to wear glasses so he has a pair each of prescription and non-prescription sunnies, that way he can wear the non-prescription ones with his contact lenses.

dooneygirl · 02/02/2008 15:52

Chocolatechipcookie??????????

Eli Manning is the quarterback of the NY Giants, one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl. When he was drafted in 2004, he was drafted by a loosing team, even after making it quite apparent he wanted to go to a winning team. Even though he was on his way to making millions upon millions upon millions of dollars, he was quite babyish about the whole thing, and with the cameras rolling, made a whiny, petulant baby face (exact one Colin made before he started crying at the time), and refused the jersey (when players get drafted, they usually get a hat and jersey of the team they are drafted by to wear), and handed it off to his mom, who wadded it up, made a face and handed it to someone else, while saying "we don't want this". His father had already made it quite apparent that Eli would not play for this losing team, and badmouthed them in the press for them daring to draft his child, and said they would have to trade him away, which they did to the Giants.

Not a whole lot, but I was really unimpressed by the disrespect shown by the family in front of so many cameras. All I could think of was what a great role model for all the younger kids who looked up to him as a sports figure on his first day of being a "pro". So he's my 2nd least favorite player in the NFL. (My 1st is a guy who somehow got acquitted of helping a former NFL player-turned-jail-inmate of murdering his girlfriend.) This year I get to root for a team with Eli Manning, or a team that has been caught cheating in the past. I'll pass.

Sorry for the book, but just wanted to make it clear I'm not dissing a 12 year old.

Hey look, another new person has joined the U. S. thread.

But what is your take on P. Phil's Georgian groundhog counterpart, Gen. Beauragard Lee, not seeing his shadow today? Mixed messages, or is P. Phil the only groundhog you listen to for your weather forecast?

jabberwocky · 02/02/2008 17:25

I looove the movie Groundhog Day. Dh and I have an agreement that either of us can request a Groundhog Day in which we get to have a "do-over" of whatever stupid thing we have done (usually that ended in an even more silly argument).

anorak, hope you're feeling better today.

alipiggie, you go, girl! We've done basically the same thing. Got the house, packing up and crossing fingers that this one sells reasonably soon

dooney, good well wishes to Colin.

I'm going with the Georgian groundhog
