Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

Hi Sibble well I'm definitely coming for an extended visit over Christmas That much is settled. I'm busy looking into schools for dd and wondering how she would cope with spending a year at school in NZ. Frankly I very much doubt I would want to return to Germany after that year is up. She is very sensitive though and I am wondering if she would find it too hard to be uprooted if you see what I mean. I am concerned it wouldn't be fair on her.

Your job sounds interesting. You sound very important too - being flied out to work someone for one day!

Papillon · 17/03/2007 22:31

Gotta go lie down - party last night and need a rest with ds sleeps and everyone else out. Will post better later, KJM I will ring you real soon. Come up and stay with me, with ds by yourself, dp can bike to work. He can go to kindy here for afew days no worries and be entertained by the girls giving you some ME time. Can offer you the house truck to sleep in so you have personal space.

kjaysmum · 19/03/2007 09:23

No probs with the new thread sibble makes things much easier.
I'd like to say thanks for the support from you folks, I'm feeling much more positive this week. It's a great help to know that other mums share these feelings.

Things are definately looking up as We just got a new house. It's a three double bedroom, brick house, warm, carpeted, bathroom with bath, a seperate laundery in other words all those little luxuries I've been missing here in our Bach. The garden is fine, nothing like this section but the area has better soil as it's abit further from the beach and they've agreed I can make raised beds for growing my herbs, What a relief it came along!

Once we're settled in I would love to come up with Ds, crikey he'd be made up to stay in Bertha with his love next door!! It'd be sometime in April. Will you be in your new place then? what fun

SSShakeTheChi · 19/03/2007 11:04

Your new house sounds good Glad to hear you're feeling a bit stronger this week. When are you moving in?

Papillon · 19/03/2007 20:36

Relieved to hear you have found a new home! Will help life on a daily basis, no end. I will be in my new home early May.

April will be fine to visit, my "DH" will be here then, so I will have find out how long he has the kids for. Sure we can juggle it all into place! Was going to ring you last night, but got occupied with something else. So glad to see your message, was thinking of you lots X

SSShakeTheChi nice to see you here Would be great to meet you when you whenever you are in New Zealand.

sibble · 20/03/2007 02:06

kjm - congrats on your new place, sounds great.

Papillon how long will 'dh' be here? will he be staying with you?

look forward to meeting you too

OP posts:
Papillon · 20/03/2007 22:52

"dh" is moving to NZ to live. Will be in Tauranga area. Think he comes to my family first, has afew days to get over jet lag etc, then he takes kids to his mothers place for alittle while. I am abit worried about how long that will be for. He has said I can come up and visit and stay. Not sure if that is a good idea though.

SSShakeTheChi · 21/03/2007 10:33

I'll definitely make an effort to get about Papillon since Dad has a van I can borrow. You're in Hastings, aren't you?

So how are things with "dh"? Thought he didn't want to move to NZ because he couldn't get work there in his field. Or am I getting confused with other posts here?! Anyway, hope everything stays friendly between you. It's tough enough making a new start without animosity to deal with. Think the grannies will help a lot with that. I don't see any harm in you going there for a few days so long as you and the ILs get along reasonably well together. You sound a bit down. Do you need to do much work on the bach?

sibble · 21/03/2007 18:56

A hard time for you Papillon. I had no idea he was coming back too. I assumed he was staying away. Lok after yourself and keep your energy levels up.

OP posts:
Papillon · 22/03/2007 04:37

There is alot to "manage" at the moment. DH finally decided he would move back to NZ end of last year. Then he decided after I told him I wanted a separation that he would stay in CH, a reaction, which he then revoked in favour of coming to NZ. He has had a big kick in the pants and been told to try wearing his pants for a change, instead of me wearing them. I have been so worn though with his unbudging attitude. But he has realised this and I hope learning to be less unflexible.

I have talked about my unhappiness on MN, but there is other stuff I have not talked about. While it might be fear of judgement it is also something I want to keep more private. And some things just need time.

I have my down moments due to the situations I am dealing with, but I am really happy to be home in New Zealand. My children are 110% happier here.

SSS I am in the Hastings area How are you doing? How does your dh feel about your idea of a year in NZ?

kjaysmum · 22/03/2007 09:48

Papillon, there is so much I'd like to talk with you about, it's a good job I'm coming to visit you soon!

We move into the new house on 6th April.
I have been working at the shop while DS is in daycare this week, helping out with the annual stocktake, it's really good to be checking all the books, I am finally getting to see exactly what is in stock and it's pretty amazing, I keep getting drawn away from my ticking to reading oops, so have started writing a list of books I want to read, it's already pretty long and I've only stockchecked upto 'C'

I'm in the process trying to find some kind of yoga retreat to go on for a weekend, so Dp and Ds can have some time together and I some time to myself, good plan don't you think?

SSShakeTheChi · 22/03/2007 16:55

Papillon, good things take time, hun. I can imagine that things are very hard for you at the moment. I'm so glad your dc are so much happier now. That is so important and must help you feel you did the right thing. How old are they? If you'd like to just have a chat anytime, send me a mail - [email protected]

Dh as yet has no problem with my plans -because he doesn't know them. I have a lot to investigate and think about first really. However, he would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to know that I would like to leave and that I worry about this being the wrong place for dd to grow up in.

SSShakeTheChi · 23/03/2007 08:33

The yoga retreat sounds good, Kjaysmum. Whereabouts are you?

kjaysmum · 24/03/2007 02:12

I'm up the coast a wee way from Wellington, I shall have a chat with my yoga teacher on Monday and see if she knows anywhere.

I was thinking about this lovely late summer we are having and how lucky we are to live somewhere so beautiful and how I must be sure to appreciate every moment as it is now, before it all changes again as things always do, hmmmmmmmm! one of 'those' days, obviously

farawaytree · 24/03/2007 07:46

Hi Everyone in NZ
We are getting on the plane to Auckland today (Saturday) will arrive via Singapore on Tuesday. Hope Sibble & Ghosty are around to meet up! Will post again once we arrive.

Keep the weather shining for us! I notice the forcast changes to rain come Tuesday!

Papillon · 24/03/2007 08:26

Enjoy farawaytree

Just been to spa pools in Napier ds did really well in his floaties and noodle (17 months) he is quite into it all! dd is femme fatale and more interested in being saved by males Then it was fish and chips for tea.

Thanks for your email SSS will send you a line sometime soon so you have me. KJM don't make that list too long!!! good luck finding a yoga retreat sounds fantastic. Once dh is here makes me think its a good idea I take some time to pamper myself and stick my nose in a book. Oh to uninterrupted!

SSShakeTheChi · 24/03/2007 11:47

Hope you have a nice trip over Farawaytree.

Kjay what kind of yoga do you do? I went to classes in Iyengar yoga for years but I just muddle along on my own these days. Should do more ...

kjaysmum · 25/03/2007 00:51

hello all, hope your travels went smoothly Farawaytree and welcome (back?)to New Zealand.

I'm practising yoga in the lineage of Sri T.Krishnamacharya, Ssshake, gosh that sounds quite la-di-da but apparently this is what one says when asked which type of yoga. I'm quite new to this flavour yoga (only nine months) It has helped me immensely as I have a medical condition which was ten times worse before I started this ptactice. I also have an excellent homeopath who has been an incredible help.
Spa pools sound like fun Papillon, we've been making the most of the open air pool here as it closes soon, end of the season, still, at least the beach doesn't close down with the summer

sibble · 26/03/2007 20:00

Hi All
Did u see the rather hot debate on here following the anti-smacking law press?!?!? Nice to know at least that what happens here does get world press and interest.
Anyway, we had the most lovely weekend at the bach, surf fantastic, surf competition great, boys made friends and spent all day playing outside and climbing trees (rather than sneaking in for the playstation), BBQ, wine on porch, jogs on beach at sunrise, beautiful sunset etc etc.........
Farawaytree - not sure when you arrive, hope journey was good. If you want to contact me I am on 0 2 1 1 6 9 9 8 1 3. Hope to see you soon.

Papillon · 27/03/2007 09:23

Sibble will text you so you have my digits. You had an idlyllic weekend I have done my time on MN about smacking. Started a thread about it once, based on some news in NZ and it got heated... like they all do.

KJM have you started packing up yet? I went and had a look at a container in the orchard today full of furniture mostly grandparents to see what could be used in my new home.

kjaysmum · 28/03/2007 08:01

no not packing, but cleaning, amazing how even though I consider myself fairly clean and tidy, we have managed to make our mark on this place, small child being a large contributing factor to this!
Hope you found some decent furniture for the new gaff. We are going to be scratching around for a while before we get what we need, we did go get some finance today for a new fridgefreezer and wash machine, bit of a first for Us both.

sibble · 29/03/2007 05:25

Look forward to getting your text Paps.

Looks like we're all in the process of furnishing new places. We were lucky in that the bach came 'as seen' so apart from new mattresses for the boys beds and a sofa bed for us (the pump up old camping bed we had, sprung a leak on the first night, the floorboards were a bit much and Dh and I in a single wasn't much fun - he's a 6ft3 old rugby player!) So it's been a lot of cleaning and now sanding down woodwork to paint tables chairs etc..... DH says the older the better, more bach like!!!!! and it is quite fun clearing cupbaords and seeing what we have. A friend gave me some matching duvet covers with boats on, great for the boys bunks and I've cut up the vallances and made cushion covers.... Anyway enough domestic news.....

Looking forward to the school hols. we are all tired so glad not to have to race out the house every morning. Weather pending planing swims in pool, trips to bach and lots of movies (DS 7 yrs loves the movies like me).

Take care in this weather all.....

OP posts:
Papillon · 30/03/2007 23:24

Sibble you do have a lovely life! Cleaning out the bach sounds a wonderful adventure... and a 6ft3 man to boot! How tall are you?

I am having a quiet morning with just ds about which is lovely. Then this afternoon off to a barbecue and the weather seems to have cleared. We of the Hawkes Bay seemed to have missed the brunt of the bad turbulent weather. KJM you must have been bach bound for a few days there?

Have abit of a back hip problem the last few days. I am looking forwards to a decent bed. I think the cooler damp weather and leaning out of bed in the night to attend to ds who has been teething got to my bones. Have been giving ds and dd New Era homeopathic Catarrh and sinus tablets. Seems to be getting stuff out that has been lodged.

Bought a sweet original pot belly fire yesterday for my home to keep us warm

kjaysmum · 31/03/2007 09:08

actually, We hardly had any rain here, I was swam in the sea twice yesterday, was georgous, rain came later in the night but cleared up again and was sunny this afternoon, for once we had it better than you folks up north, ha! But all joking apart hope you are all ok and it must have been pretty awful to be in the badly hit areas.
Your bach sounds amazing, Sibble, what fun to have all that past to delve through, just my cup of tea,

Papillon, I also experience hip and lower back pain, which is apparently be due to my hips being out of line afterchild birth and carrying Ds on my hip, my yoga teacher works a great deal with us on this and it has definately helped.
Pleased to hear you've found a remedy to match with your lo's.

kjaysmum · 01/04/2007 08:44

Farawaytree, if you are anywhere near Kapiti whilst your here please let me know if you fancy a meet up, it would be nice. Shall have a spare double bedroom as of 6th Aprit too!
