Hi All

Hope everybody is well (especially Papillon) am thinking of you at this time.

It's been frantic here the past week or two. On a whim we decided to buy a bach at Port Waikato (think bach's 50 years ago with toilet and shower in seperate sheds at end of garden) no hiding from the neighbours whats going on when walking down the garden with loo roll and towel then!!! We hear in a few hours if the bank is going to lend us more money. We are all soooooooo excited, hard to tell whether Dh (ooohhh, need to build that a box, ooohhh need to chop x to make y there too) or ds1 who has taken to the surf like a duck to water and now wants to join the surf club is more excited. Me, I flagged playgroup this mornign and dragged poor ds2 around the shops deciding what I needed to buy ( I love shopping this was the height of my year) while envisaging spending the next ??? weekends cleaning and painting the place (hmmmm not too excited about the cleaning but love painting, find it relaxing). Daunting but exciting for us all too. Friends are lining up with tents to come and sleep in the garden!!

Take care all xx

Sibble fantastic to read about Bach! Good luck with the loan. Just visited my Aunt and Uncle's Bach at Rotoiti near Rotorua last weekend, its on a lake. I had contemplation and relaxation time like I have not had in years rowed the dingy and tried to nut out suduko. My brain seriously needs more workouts like that, and my mind, body and soul more visits to the lake

Hey Papillon ... sorry not to have caught up with you in NZ (unfortunately - I am now back in the UK .. sob sob sob) Hope you are having a wonderful time.

Going home was fabulous (more fabulouser than usual) this time and I had lots of fun in Tauranga and at the Mount. The sun shone almost all the time which was a bonus too.

Really wish I was still over there ... am rather sad to be back - plus have horrid jet lag (always worse coming back this way for some reason ..) sigh

Papillon · 19/02/2007 21:54

Hey Masked Poster, I did try to ring your mobile once but it would not connect... and I having abit of a mad time, so difficult for me to be socially on the ball.

Glad you had a good time, I am staying here to live YIPPEE! So next time your over we could try meeting up again Hope the jet lag is better soon.

themaskedposter · 21/02/2007 08:18

Oh Papillon! what wonderful news!! you are SOOOOO lucky.

No worries about not catching up this time - one day, next time I am 'home' we can meet for a cuppa!!

Jetlag is better now, and we are finally keeping 'normal' british time again ... however the sadness of leaving my home-land and family hasn't budged in the slightest. The fact that is was summer over there and winter here hasn't done much to help this situation.

Anyway - enough feeling sorry for myself - where are you settling in NZ.. tell me ALL to make me even more !!

sibble · 21/02/2007 17:38

Papillon, good luck with house hunting. AM sure we will meet at last now you are staying here.

Papillon · 27/02/2007 07:27

Am settling in the Napier Hastings area. Think it might take me awhile to find a good bargain house though, prices crazy!

Seem to be pretty busy helping the family on the orchard atm, nice to have some work to swept out the excessive amount of dust that has accumulated through being a sahm

KJM what has happened to you?? Hard weekend or something

kjaysmum · 27/02/2007 08:07

Hey Paps, just back off holiday tonight. Had lovely time but still struggling with Ds's sleep issues. Off to search the archives on advice on how to keep the little fella in bed at night.
Nice thought that you and your lovelies shall be around in NZ in the future chat soon.

Hi anniemac

KJM nice to see you back little man not sleeping again, did he get abit unsettled over the weekend? My boy up at 6am this morning. He is very needy for me and get jealous of dd. ooopss here he comes now!

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 27/02/2007 21:55

well...sigh...We had a great week away generally speaking, yes Ds is getting up about five times a night at present, but is unsettled due to hols. He slept the best for the two nights we spent in a caravan on the camping. I have started a thread in the sleep section about this, on which I am merrily virtually talking to myself at the moment, but hey no probs helps to clear my clouded sleep deprived mind.
I was thinking about you Sibble as we drove over the Bombay hills but to be honest this shall be the only full week holiday we get as a family this year and we tried to do far to much really. I guess the first year of business is bound to be busy, well one hopes so anyway so mustn't complain.
So Paps, hows the apples, lo's had enough of them yet? How exciting looking for a house for you and your little lovelies, we are house hunting now too, but as you know we are only renting.
I'm supposed to be napping now Ds is in daycare so better go, bet I don't sleep though!!!

Papillon · 28/02/2007 07:13

apples are good and children seem to consume them in large numbers on a daily basis. I have been working in the orchard which is very good for my brain. Although next few days I am having off as its going to be really busy and Mum the heavyweight Quality Controller will be stepping up to organise it all. All good with me, I am getting ready to hit the beach with a load of relatives - can't wait!!

Actually putting abit of a hold on house buying, still something up in air here... and I am thinking to go to Switzerland for 2 months for the Bologna book fair in Italy and to do some intensive writing with my illustrator friend.

Will go check out your thread on non sleeping son.

Hello Paps glad you sound so happy and workign in an orchard sounds bliss, well not as blissful as going to the beach .

llip · 28/02/2007 08:20

I don't blab too much on MN about the "other stuff" glitter. Don't think they could handle the sordid details

will mail you soon ...thanks for being such a great mate XX

kjaysmum · 03/03/2007 06:46

thanks for your advice on the sleep thing Paps, I really feel we may be getting somewhere here be it very slowly.
Sounds like you have unfinished business so I am not at all surprised you will return to Europe, hope we get to see you first, but no stress with so much going on in your life, and we'll be here when you come back
It was a lovely here today, tiring our little fella out on the beach and trying to blow the cobwebs out of my tired brain, worked wonders as he has just fallen asleep after only two returns and I am feeling very calm and sure. Have packed Dp off to his brothers for a night of R and R after the noisy nights here, that way he can take over fresh in the morning and I can get some shut eye.
Hope you're having fun on the beach

kjaysmum · 06/03/2007 19:31

hello folks, well we seem to be returning to some sort of normality after Ds's little trip to bllluuurbbb land. Can't think of a word for it, help me out here please, it's seems like he decided not to sleep, to go completely hyper, loose all sense of routine, tantrum, get frustrated and has come out of it a happy controlled little boy (well relatively) and somehow older.
Hope alls good with everyone else

Papillon · 06/03/2007 20:16

Hi
Good to hear KJ is better, sometimes when they go through a development, growth phase they do freak out and want more security. Also the sensitivities we have are also something they feel much more as they are little sponges sucking everything that goes on in their environment.

Beach was wonderful We ate alot of fried tomatoes, pippis and mandarins. Was magic - dd had her "friend" a cousins partner to hang out with all weekend, she meet him in Bern and fell in love. They are a rather inseparable unit when together. So cute.

As for everything else, its all tumulteous and wild and wonderful at the same time. Just trying to not invoke hatred vibes and at the same time be powerless in myself. Work in progess.

Friend is encouraging me to read Right Use of Will Books... www.rightuseofwill.com/index.html
Have you ever heard of them KJM? Or Sibble?

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 07/03/2007 07:18

just had a look at the website for books, not heard of them my self neither has Dp through the shop, sounds worth looking at for sure.
Glad you're ok, Dp's birthday on sunday you're welcome for the birthday barbie if you fancy a blat!
I have been doing lots of gardening today trying to bring some order to the section in veiw of handing this place back again, suddenly I can see where I've let it go abit, not hard with a section this big. Haven't found our next little haven yet but have looked at a few which came close, I'll know the place when I see it and I'm confident it'll come to us.

kjaysmum · 07/03/2007 07:19

How's the bach Sibble?

Papillon · 07/03/2007 21:32

That sounds like a good idea KJM, will check to see if I have abscound with parents car for afew days

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 08/03/2007 07:11

would be great to see you, don't know what you were planning but I have to warn you our house is tiny, so sorry to say we really couldn't accomodate you and the kids in the house. However the section is huge so we could definately take you with the beautiful Bertha.

Papillon · 08/03/2007 07:14

some good kiwi terms creeping in there, blat and all that

parents okay about the car So what time do I turn up on Sunday??

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 09/03/2007 00:14

great stuff, you are welcome from noon onwards we shall light the barbie about 5. Really look forward to seeing you three, Dp will well chuffed!
My mum said I sounded like I was getting a kiwi accent when I was chatting on the phone the other day, oh well certainly beats a birnmingham one, oops sorry to any passing brumies

Papillon · 12/03/2007 07:08

Your accent did not sound kiwi to me, but I bow to your mothers indepth knowledge of your vowel tones and all that!

Back to parents safe and sound. Checked out the villa on the sea (the dump on the beach) looks promising project wise... cos lots to do. Still looks to be a great stepping stone as long as I can handle living in teeny tiny rooms for a year or so until I can organise a renovation.

How did you viewing of the rental go?? Is it the one?

Cheers again for a lovely party and sleepover

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 12/03/2007 07:36

Glad you home safe and sound and the bach is prooving interesting.
The rental was absolutely not the one, all 70'sa decore and windows you couldn't see out of unless you were standing up!
It was a real pleasure to have you and yours to stay, thanks so much for coming XX
