I have just booked an early bird flight before christmas for August with Singapore air, have flown with them before and they're pretty reasonable and good with kids IME. We also flew via Malaysia which was also fine and pretty reasonable. My travel agent also found reccomended a flight with united arab emerates which was reasonable but stopped in Middle east and Australia and I didn't want to do two stops is too much for DS.

Charliedane · 22/01/2007 09:06

Where abouts do you live kjaysmum and how long have you been there? Sorry if you´ve mentioned it previously... I notice you say you´re off to Wellie and back from but is that where you live?

kjaysmum · 22/01/2007 19:13

We live in Kapiti which is about and hours drive north of Wellington on the west coast. To be honest the weather here has been pretty dismal.
I have been here since last may but was here before for a few months when my ds was a baby

kjaysmum · 30/01/2007 07:46

dum dee dum, so kiwi's what's new?

sibble · 30/01/2007 18:40

was just going to post to see what everybody is up to. We're getting ready for Ds1's 7th birthday party at the weekend. Can't beleive he's going to be 7. We've been counting the sleeps for the past 2 months! 7 boys running wild, I feel a lollie free party coming on (oh maybe just a few just before they go home )

ALso getting ready to go back to school, will be he's not around most of the time but no more breaking up fights with the boys, swimming in the pool without 2 boys attached to back, trying to catch one jumping in while other is swimming under legs, going for walks without examining animal poo and trying to work out what animal it belongs too and how long it's been there, then rolling on the grass laughing shouting 'kaka butt' at each other !?!?!?!? Knew there was a reason I wanted girls Anybody else not get the boy humour thing?

Hope everybody else is having fun

Papillon · 02/02/2007 21:06

just coming out the daze of festival bus tiki tours.

Really great to have a mumsnet meetup in a reserve near Levin Hope to be down wellington way KJM end of February, when you back from Auckland.

Don't frighten us with too much boy humor Sibble Although have my 6 year old nephew hanging over my shoulder with his Yoplait greek style yogurt container eating liquorice and snax biscuits right now! He is a lovely boy and was recently the Bremworth carpet boy on the ads on TV Just built them houses in the living room but my writing seems to be more interesting!

Oh, heading up to Tauranga next week, having fab time hanging out in the spa pool straight out of bed, splashing at the beach and eating lots of peaches, plums etc.... living on an orchard has its benefits!

Will email you masked poster and see if you are about for getting together soon

kjaysmum · 03/02/2007 07:29

hiya, We back from hols on 28th I think have to run that by DP.
Sounds like you having a good chilled time. I doing the same here, wiped me out all that reserve business!
We just off down the beach, for a paddle. Have been hanging out at the Lido here lately picnics and swims, DS practicing being a frog lots, turnning into a proper water bouy. It is such a lovely evening here, clear sky and just had dinner out on the deck it's a pity we've outgrown this house it has such a glorious section!!
Next week looks good, off to the One Love concert in Wellington on Waitangi day, should be fun.

Papillon · 04/02/2007 08:42

One love sounds good, just back from a concert, its Harvest Hawkes Bay here and we did a family outing to see "The Beat Girls" all covers but we had lots of fun dancing with the kids. Maybe I should can the Tauranga mission till later and come down to Wellington this week... I muse...

Rather knacked now and need to sit in the spa pool with my hot chocolate

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 05/02/2007 03:01

oh my, spa pool and hot chocolate, sounds great. Did your thoughts on One love get any further than musing? It would be great to see you down here, although I don't really know what to expect from the event with the lo's and I am feeling a tad event shy after the other weekend.
It's so gourgous here at the moment, glassy seas and the like I am quite loath to move off the coast be it only for a day (smile). We had a barby up on Otaki beach last night, it's a tad wilder up there where the river meets the sea very nice!

Papillon · 05/02/2007 19:31

Was muse and in reality need to go and see dh mother and sister. Leave tomorrow to visit. Hope it can be a peaceful event as have spilled beans and can of worms to dh about all that I am feeling about life and love.

The good news is have extended ticket till 20 March... So will have plenty of time to come down to Wellington, have barbies, put feet up and have good time.

Have a good day today, may the sun shine and the stress be elsewhere x

sibble · 06/02/2007 03:48

Hi Paps
If you are staying that long and make it up to Auckland, there is a spare bed here. Should also be in Hastings before then. Maybe catch you there! Keep chilled.
Am very chilled at the mo, went to Port Waikato today, boys surfed, picnic on beach, iceblocks on wharf etc......fantastic - summer. Home for bbq and spot of chardonnay on deck ready for school to start tomorrow. Feeling a little but also for some ME TIME. Hurray (may need to post holiday fumigate house and mop floors etc. but no hurry in the sun).
Sibble

kjaysmum · 06/02/2007 09:03

oh Papillon, what can I say, I wish you lots of luck and love and clear vision.
It was a wonderful day today, the One Love event was a massive success with people gently rockin and weaving to chilled out reggae sounds and vibes, what an atmosphere, lots of children, Ds doing his 'ting' what a groover. Thought I saw Bertha and got all excited but never mind we look forward to seeing you whenever you can make it.

Papillon · 07/02/2007 08:10

Thanks Sibble, would really love to take you up on spare bed offer one of these days! Usually though its me, my kids and a small tribe of followers so the bed would be a tight squeeze even for the most imaginative cuddly person! Please let me know when you are Hastings bound so we can meet up

KJM thanks I am trying for clear vision and feel very decisive which is good. DH is turning up on Friday for emergency attempts at winning back my heart. Unfortunately that has eroded into me just wanting friendship. Its all abit bizarre actually glad I am very certain and decisive!

How was one love?

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 07/02/2007 19:58

stuck for words...>

One love was, I must admit, fantastic. We didn't get there till 5 as we went on a huge family picnic earlier in the day But it was fine arriving late as the day was hot hot and had cooled down somewhat by then. Everybody was just into a really nice groove which DS really picked up on, it finished at 7.30 which was also ok, there was no alchohol for sale apart from in a fenced off bar section, which was great! Ds was moving around the dance floor and finding a group of people to dance with and saying 'these are my new friends mummy' then moving on to another group and getting down with them, so cute!!!!!

kjaysmum · 08/02/2007 07:29

incidently can anyone recommend a reasonably priced place to stay in Rotorua which has rooms with their own hotpool.

Papillon · 08/02/2007 20:35

Haven't got a scooby about Rotorua!

Have extended tickets till March 20th, so think will come to see you guys after 4th March time. When things have settled and dust has cleared!

OP posts:
sibble · 09/02/2007 01:39

hi Kjaysmum, do you have flybuys? Last few times we went we used them. One of the motels does a family size room. It's very basic, but has hotpools and overlooks the bubbling real thing. I think it's the Mercure (or one of those chains).

Hi Papillon, so sorry to hear things are not great with you and DH. Big hugs from me.

kjaysmum · 09/02/2007 21:42

Hi Sibble. thanks for the tip, I shall bear it in mind

kjaysmum · 15/02/2007 00:03

hello all, well life at the beach still grand although it's a wee bit fresh today.
Ds has been giving us a run around though, ahhh the joys of a 2.9 year old, he's either a bundle of delight and fun or screaming and yelling and getting out of bed at 4 in the morning for 4 nights now phase. I am calm, I am a tranquil sea, nothing phases me, this is my mantra, praise the good ignore the bad, crikey I'm shattered!!!!
Hows things with other Kiwi dwellers?

Papillon · 15/02/2007 21:02

4 in the morning - what a nightmare! Glad to hear you have a mantra sorted. I have a rule that I don't get out of bed before 7am and ignoring any out of hours mama interventions. Seems to work - although boys are somewhat more strong willed!

Husband has been and gone - what a week I am exhausted. Have decided to wean ds so have not bf him for 4 days. Helps the energy reserviours abit. Now I am focussing on buying a home for me and the kids. Have seen one I would like, now just have to try and get the price down. Am craving to have a home so hope it won't take too long to find.

kjaysmum · 16/02/2007 09:02

good to chat tonight, Paps, good luck with the house.
Have started opening Ds's door at night when we go to bed (his room is off lounge so has always been shut, batch life hey!) as I have a theory he's started having a problem with a door he can't get out of, he slept through till 5.45 this morning then jumped in with us, but didn't go back to sleep, not sure of stratergy tomorrow, think I have to get a stair gate for his room door. Hoping it's just a phase as he's been such a good sleeper for so long now.

Papillon · 17/02/2007 08:37

glad to hear you got a "sleep in"!!

good to talk to you, again thanks so much for ringing. I don't feel I have been very brave, but I had to get out for I went under. Its all just such a frigging mess wiht so much to sort for more than just dh and me.

Mum and Dad have started apple picking today, so its all action around here. Good for dd to have hustle and bustle she has been quite knocked by last weeks events and dh being way too emotional in front of her.

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 18/02/2007 01:55

Wow must be tuned in cause I had a huge dream about apples last night. I had gone to work on an apple farm (something I have done quite a bit of in the distant past) and the boss, a woman, was showing me how to peel the apples with a really old fashioned peeler and Ds kept pinching the apples before I could finish peeling them.
Ds had a huge throw up last night, could explain the unsettled behaviour but not the apple dream

Papillon · 18/02/2007 19:55

Insightful dream, the old fashioned peeler is significant for me as is your ds taking the apples... unfinished business.

Maybe you need to protect yourself before you sleep though... don't want you picking up on any negative vibes.. .that would not be cool.

Its really intense at the moment.

dd is having alot of fun running around helping mum and dad with apple picking and atm she has archie the dog on a lead and is dragging him around the property. Great to be the lead dog!

ds (your surrogate boy!) is coming out with lots of new words, eating loads and sleeping lots. We are really starting to connect properly which is fantastic.

Have a great weekend up in Auckland - have a crazy moment for me
