My DD3 has stage 4 Cancer

We are in shock, horror, disbelief. Last week she had a sore leg and went to A&E, now she has stage 4 Neuroblastoma and chemo starts on Tuesday.
She's only 3 but she's taking it in her stride. She cried the other night and said 'I don't want to be sick, I just want to go to nursery with my friends' it broke my heart.
The implications are just hitting, our whole lives are turned upside down for at least a year. One of us will have to give up work, how will we cope? Financially, emotionally.
I have a black lump in my stomach and can't believe this is happening to us

I'm so happy to read your update. What a little star she is. And how brave you're being. My husband beat cancer this year and that was tough enough to watch, I can't imagine how difficult it would be if it was my child. All the strength, love and best wishes to you Thanks

Dntevenknowit · 15/10/2021 21:37

What an amazing little girl! I went through cancer age 23 and still can’t really process what I went through. I’m incredibly inspired by your little girl and wish you all all the very best xx

I hope and pray the treatment continues to work for your beautiful daughter ❤️

We had a successful stem cell harvest this week and new we're in for 8 days of chemo - round 4. We managed to squeeze in a trip to the zoo and a Halloween party in the week so she didn't miss out on trick or treating! All our lovely neighbours did Halloween early for her. She is doing very well, considering all the prodding and poking she's endured. Surgery booked to get rid of 'monster Teddy' (her tumour) which is good but also terrifying. One more step to getting this cancer out of her body I suppose x

How wonderful of your neighbours. Thinking of you 💐🍁💓

MLMsuperfan · 30/10/2021 18:31

Eight days; sounds really tough. Fingers crossed for a good outcome. Don't forget to take care of yourself too.

ToddlerMumma · 15/11/2021 20:45

Shiiiiiiit, she has surgery on Wednesday to remove the main tumour. We had a meeting with the surgeon today. Her tumour is literally splatted amongst her internal organs, bowl, kidneys, liver, spleen etc. he made it clear it's major surgery, very risky. I was scared before... now I'm absolutely terrified. The surgery will take all day, maybe into the night. He can't update us on progress throughout. What on earth are we going to do all day?! This is the worst week of my life

I don’t have anything to say OP, but I’m thinking of you. Your daughter sounds like an absolute joy

Auntycorruption · 15/11/2021 20:56

My goodness. I'm sorry I have nothing helpful to say.

As for Wednesday, maybe console yourself with the knowledge that she is fast asleep. She will feel no pain, no matter how long it takes. Better they go slow and do it safely. Good luck

Auntycorruption · 15/11/2021 20:57

Also although the surgeon can't update you, the other theatre staff may work in shifts and so perhaps an update could happen. If not then again, console yourself with the mantra that no news is good news x

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/11/2021 22:42

I can't even begin to imagine how hard Wednesday is going to be for you. You and your gorgeous girl will be in my thoughts and prayers. So lovely that your neighbours did Halloween early for her. Did she dress up too?
