JenniferBooth · 19/08/2025 13:13

Ive been maliciously accused of shoplifting. By a woman in a well known news store currently undergoing a name change. This was last month on Saturday 26th July. This was followed by someone posting false accusations about me on social media Ive reported it to the police under the Malicious Communications Act AND IVE BEEN GIVEN A CRIME NUMBER It escalated on Sunday 17th August where a man ive never met before "confronted" me in another shop (supermarket corner shop) calling me a shoplifter and repeating the same shit from last month. Ive updated the police as its harassment. Ive never shoplifted in my life. Ive got piles and piles of carrier bags from this news store and have spent a lot of money there since my teens (im now in my fifties) I was ringing solicitors yesterday but havent found one to handle a case like this.

Ok, you're not her, apologies.

There are two people who act like this then.

Me four

wtf are you talking about? The boots woman is a fruit loop. This OP hasn’t done anything that we are aware of.

dogcatkitten · 19/08/2025 13:58

I don't understand, did the shop accuse you of shop lifting, or a random person in the shop? If not the shop why are you harassing them? Did the shop agree with the random person that you were shop lifting? If so ask to see the cctv, you might find someone who looks quite like you was shop lifting and it was a simple mistake.

Agree that taking out a private action against someone, (do you know their full name and address?) is going to be hugely expensive, and the only people who win are the lawyers.

I shop in physical stores all the time. None of them have ever given me a Christmas card

At our takeaway we give the regulars Christmas cards

She isn’t
i have been on here long enough that I know regular postings names and OP isn’t. I could give the user name of the boots sample one but I won’t, and they are two different people

Search shows Op hasn’t posted anything before- why couldn’t it be a name change or new account from the same person? MN is barely that hard to infaltrate 😂

The bags that prove i fucking pay for stuff at the till.

You must know that not how proof of purchase works.

I do remember it being something people did when I was a child but we're long past that now

It's understandable that posters are questioning you as MN seems to be statistically well over populated by people who have weird shoplifting experiences

Big difference between your local takeaway and a multi national company like Sainsbury's

What do you mean two people who act like this. I havent done anything wrong and i didnt ask for any of this. Im standing up for myself because i am innocent of all these accusations. Have you got a problem with people trying to prove their innocence

Aye but you aren't Sainsbury's.

Spendysis · 19/08/2025 14:01

I don’t understand either does the woman work at the shop? Has the shop accused you of shoplifting

Sevenamcoffee · 19/08/2025 14:02

I saw a woman on tv who had been wrongly accused of shoplifting and banned from the shop because the facial recognition technology the shop was using got it wrong and misidentified her. It then goes round all the other shops in area and she was banned from them all. She was a perfectly normal woman and was warning this could happen to anyone.

Bambamhoohoo · 19/08/2025 14:02

The last thing I’ll say on boots lady is she is clearly mentally unwell so we should consider all the possibilities around this sort of behaviour

Op you didn’t answer my question about what you want to task the solicitor with doing?

This is where being a lazy bint will pay off for me. When my handbag gets too full of receipts i will sometimes sit on my bed at night and clean it out and stuff them on the top shelf of my bedside cupboard thinking "i will clear that tommorrow . That tommorrow never came. So its stuffed full of paper reciepts from differnt places

Disgusting behaviour from posters on here. OP is being harassed and defamed and everyone attacks her and makes a joke out of it. There are some nasty people on mumsnet. OP hope you are Ok. Cant offer any real advice except avoid that store and only shop where the people know and like you. Don’t really use Facebook but if I were you I would look into reporting the posts

SlashBeef · 19/08/2025 14:07

Who is this deeply involved with their local shops?!

Would that include my local Sainsburys who give me a Christmas card for being one of their most polite and respectful customers? Manager herself told me this

😂

Because they’ve both been posting on here for YEARS under the same name about totally different topics, and I know the real name of one of them

if you google Mumsnet no 7 vs Clinique it’s easy to find the other woman and they are not the same person

I also thought 'Boots sample lady' although I didn't see that thread! Seriously I get you're upset OP, but your choice of language is really aggressive and hostile. If you are anything like this in real life I dont think you'll get very far with this. Name calling etc, particularly at your age is 😮
