Hi, new thread started. I probably won’t have an update for a little while but just here just in case!

I have just read the entire first thread after catching the start of it last year. Well done for pushing on with this OP and massive congratulations on your (not so new) baby!

I am following with interest as I am job hunting and TTC at the moment.

Well done for sticking with this. Hope it ends favourably soon!

Blossom513 · 12/06/2020 23:13

I thought about you earlier OP as I commented in the early days under a different name. Spent half an hour trying to find it and just caught up since early May!
So pleased you are still pursuing this, I hope you're able to get any legal help you need. Thank you for keeping us updated.

Anyway with regards to the previous thread
I am so INFURIATED by some of the responses from other women. Fortunately it seems to be a minority. But a harsh reminder that we really do have a long way to go to for women's rights if other women are prepared to throw pregnant women under a bus just to protect themselves. It's not the slightest bit logical that discrimination should be allowed to continue in some areas to improve them in others Hmm

One of the PP said she wouldn't recruit a pregnant woman to protect her own livelihood. Well guess what, pregnant women have rights to protect their own livelihood too. So thank goodness we are not obliged to tell you. Although maybe best we did as wouldn't want to work for you anyway with that attitude.

While recruitment is a pain in the backside (it was a minor part of my role and I hated it, but accepted it was part of the role) I don't really see what difference it makes how long someone has been working for you before they need mat leave. Is your business going to actually suffer that much or are you happy to discriminate against women because they've caused you a bit of extra work?

Maternity cover or adjustments are needed whether the person has been there for 3 months or 3 years ? And if your business is that fragile you can't cope with someone taking maternity leave entitlement then you've probably got bigger problems in your business. Or you're just not very good at managing it. So good luck with that.

Voice0fReason · 12/06/2020 23:34

Glad you've stuck with it this long.

Been following since day one and am completely behind you OP!

You make me wish I’d stood up for myself more and taken court action against people when I didn’t because it felt like too much bother.

TerrapinStation · 21/06/2020 20:10

I was wondering how you were getting on, I'm glad I've found this thread

Pelleas · 21/06/2020 20:11
