I'm due in court tomorrow for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It happened six months ago and I'm pleading guilty so no trial etc.

No previous and I'm a person "of good character". But my goodness I'm bloody petrified.

I probably won't sleep tonight and I'll I keep thinking about is my dd.

I hope you don't get a prison sentence for your daughter's sake.

It seems that convictions for this are taken seriously by the courts though, and routinely "light" sentences would undermine the justice system as it would seem they aren't properly policing people who try to subvert it. That MP got a 3 month custodial sentence recently for perverting the course of justice relating to a speeding fine, and her accomplice got 10 months.

I think the prison sentence is purely to make an example though, as a criminal conviction is enough of a hindrance to a decent person as it is.

You sound very self aware now. I dearly hope it goes well for you today.x

Good luck, keeping my fingers crossed for you

UrsulaPandress · 02/05/2019 07:53

Hope all goes well.

I know nothing about legal stuff but I'm sure that prison would not be the right solution.

They got prison sentences because they pleaded Not Guilty, when it was obvious to anyone that they were anything but. You always get a harsher sentence if you don’t admit your responsibility.

The OP admitted her guilt very early on and that will be taken into consideration by the judge.

Best of luck OP. Flowers

TeddTess · 02/05/2019 08:00

You'll be ok OP. The prisons are full. You're not a bad person and no threat to the public.

LillithsFamiliar · 02/05/2019 08:03

I hope it goes well for you today OP. Flowers

Later, it might be worth considering counselling. I know you think you've learnt a lot about abusive relationships but tbh your childhood experience with your parents will make you liable to slip into old patterns and have poor boundaries.

WineIsMyCarb · 02/05/2019 08:05

Good luck

WienerDiva · 02/05/2019 08:09

@LillithsFamiliar I have had some counselling as I had panic attacks and sleep paralysis straight after I was arrested. I think it's worth me going though for dealing with the court process etc.

Good luck today. It sounds like you have learned a lot from an awful experience and I wish you well.

BellatrixLeStrangest · 02/05/2019 08:11

Best of luck to you, I've just RTFT and you don't deserve to go to prison. Manipulative people make us do things that when we think rationally we wouldn't usually do. I hope the judge takes into consideration the offenders previous convictions (and current). Stay strong OP

LillithsFamiliar · 02/05/2019 08:11

I'm glad you've had some counselling. It's obviously a very stressful time Flowers
