Psychomum5 · 27/03/2008 08:39

mornin all.

blua skies here, hould I brave it and take them to the beach????

reading thro this again, I have realised that I a getting rather envioous of some here

reasons to be .....

I am of people having 'help', of 'futility' rooms (I so like that word better than utility), of women having helpful older kiddies and expecting another baby...(hell, strike that...I am just at the new baby!), and some have big enough houses and basements (would lurve a basement), and futility rooms IN ONE HOUSE!!!!

ah well........at least the mess is more contained in mine. Or should that read more apparent.

sorkycake · 27/03/2008 08:58

yes but you're a DEMI psychomum

Can't have a futility room, basement, nanny and be a size 6-8, that's just showing off.

Cadmum · 27/03/2008 09:54

I am convinced that 2 loads a day should be sufficient but that probably explains why there is always something in the laundry hampers...
Kitty: I have the same fear...

Psychomum5 · 27/03/2008 09:56

Ok, guess we all balance out on the grand scheme of things. I obviously traded my futility and nanny for sizes

Cadmum · 27/03/2008 10:06

Psychomum:

The mess in our house this morning is UNREAL!!! I have many rooms in which to hide/contain the mess but I am failing miserably at the moment. I spent hours in the office/classroom yesterday and there was plenty of concurrent activity from the dcs: the front-room was turned upside-down by dd2; the garden was dug up by ds2; every board game was played by ds1 and dd1 and then left to be explored by dd2.

I am sure that you get the picture.

I would blame the fact that we have only been here for 7 weeks and sick for 2 of those but in reality it is laziness on my part. I need to stop being ill and get it sorted.

I also know what you mean about the envy...

I just read on here that a friend back home is expecting #6... I am not envious--much.

I am not going to be envious of those who are expecting. I am not going to be envious of those who are expecting...

kittywise · 27/03/2008 11:18

sorky, you can advertise for what you're after. Atm I have live out but really want live but au pairs are a bit thin on the ground this time of year.

cadmum I know exactly what you mean about the at expectant mums. I keep thinking "That should be me because it's always been me" (mad woman)

Tickle · 27/03/2008 12:25

kitty we had an au pair for the 1st time last summer for 3 months(when our business is busiest) and it was brill! That time between 5pm and dinner for example - she would plant the smallest 2 on her knee and read them a book. At the mo I have to hurdle ds2 (2) if I need to get to the fridge, he's so clingy...

We need a new one for this summer, so thought we would have a boy this time, to play footie with ds1 etc. Had a nice german guy lined up - who emailed yesterday saying he has changed his mind and is off to Sweden instead So we have to start again

liahgen I know just what you mean about giving them all attention. Our two littlies dominate proceedings to such an extent that I wonder if the older 2 feel its unfair. I try to take just one of them with me to do things sometimes - a one-to-one is always appreciated, I think. But looking for tips here too!

DuchessofNB had a nosey at your profile... chickens and ponies one day, one day...

spidermama hope you and yours are all better now

Sunshine and snow here, so hanging washing outside today! Now that helps keep me sane

magnolia74 · 27/03/2008 13:10

Afternoon all

Liahgen, It is hard to give them all attention. Dd1 is nearly 13 and probably gets the least amount but doesn't mind to much as apparently we are cool parents coz we let her have her mates round whenever and its usually about 5-7 of them and Dh s often a Taxi for their trips swimming ect...

I find my twins are suffering more at the moment. Dt1 (8) is being refferred to CAMHS as she is getting a bit disruptive at school and at home

Dd4 demands attention and it's impossible not to give it to her and ds1 is still little so he gets the most

I am very of the utility rooms, chickesn, horses, aupairs ect....

I am trying to get on top of the washing and my oldest cat (15) has just got in the bag with wet clean washing and shit

He needs a home where he doesn't have to go out and can have a couple of litter trays but it's impossible here with the kids and dogs

Psychomum5 · 27/03/2008 17:49

been to the beach.

twas lovely, if slightly cold when the sun went in!

still with all the futility rooms and new babies!!!!

cadmum.........sorry but PMSL at your rather apt description of your house. Sounds like mine can be at times!

spidermama.....hope the illnesses are beginning to abate...

magnolia....I know what you mean about attention being unfairly spread. I feel that on some days, especially with DS2 as he is still 5 and demanding......very demanding!!!

kittywise · 27/03/2008 18:08

psychomum, what beach is that then?

sorkycake · 27/03/2008 18:53

liaghen someone was asking after you on the classifieds board.....or was it swaps....no it was feedback actually.

gingeme · 27/03/2008 20:58

Evening ladies. Yes know what you mean about attention to all dc. My ds4 is being very clingy at the minute especialy when dh is at work and ds5 is crying, usualy just as dh is going to work coincidently,he's cutting more teeth too which is a real pain because he always gets a runny bum about then.
ds3 is being briliant though. He realy tries to keep ds4 entertained while Im feeding ds5. He such a good big brother bless him.
My two older ds's are coming here for 10 days from the 3rd April so I should get lots of help for a little while . Can' wait to see them.

Tickle · 27/03/2008 21:34

magnolia about the washing - have you tried a covered litter tray? They look like a travel basket, and you could maybe place it so the dogs & children can't get in, but the cat can?

gingeme · 27/03/2008 21:39

Thats a good idea tinkle. When we had a cat and ds3 was crawling we got one of those and it was briliant. Just ashame our cat got ran over two weeks later

Cadmum · 28/03/2008 08:17

Magnolia: Two cats here as well and one of them was so nervous about moving that he weed on virtually everything including DS1's coat which could not be washed... I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks that life is busy enough with four children so decided to up the ante with animals.

You have my sympathy because pooping on the CLEAN laundry is the height! (At least it wasn't dry and folded.) Our litter boxes are not covered because the dim cat is afraid of going in one!

Psychomum5: We went to the beach yesterday as well and it was a little chilly but so worth the effort. I am glad that you can relate to the state of my house. There must be some serious effort made today or it will continue to worsen won't it?!?! I would much rather just go outside and play.

Spidermama: I hope you are all back in the land of the living. We are all still coughing and spluttering but at least the fevers are gone so we can get out of the house.

zaphod · 28/03/2008 09:03

Ooh can I join?

I have
ds14
dd12
ds10
ds6
ds4.

With this section for larger families I have high hopes that I will learn how to,
a)cook meals that 4 out of 5 children will eat
b)get a handle on the constant laundry
c)learn how to give everyone one on one time
d) get me time without feeling guilty
e)stop the kids from constantly fighting and saying really awful things to each other.

Not all at once of course....

BoysOnToast · 28/03/2008 09:07

i have 3 ds's and a dss, but dss doesnt live with us, only visits (is here for a week next week)
do i scrape a membership here? [stretching it]

nah... i'll be back when i am ready to have another... catch you later ladies

Cadmum · 28/03/2008 10:27

zaphod: Welcome. Thank heavens your expectations are low. No pressure out there OWLS!

Do let me know if you acquire either a,c, or d as I could use these skills as well!

I really must get off here and get the laundry moving...

mrbojangles · 28/03/2008 13:16

Id love to join your group....... have always fancied myself as an owl.
I have 4ds and dont know anyone else with four boys and my rl friends seam to have gone for 2dc.
So would be good to hear how you all get by.

I have no help, utility room, dishwasher either and would love them all....... infact there is very little I wouldnt do to get a utility room

kittywise · 28/03/2008 20:26

mrbojangles, here at the home of the OWLS we call it a FUTILITY room .
Right having spent the day in London with numbers 1,2 and three) we live in brighton) I am now knackered and shall be drinking mucho vino

gingeme · 28/03/2008 21:25

Evening ladies. Booked ds3's birthday party today at Clown Town. Poor love thought it was on today and screamed the place down when we left without having his party
ds3 fell off our rather large Ikea coffee table today resulting in yet another egg on his forehead. Hes realy into climing now and my heart ends up in my mouth alot.
Gave all ds's a bath together tonight and ds4 kept wanting to cuddle ds5 and he helped wash his hair for me which was so sweet till he got him in the eye resulting in a screaming baby. Oh oh....
Still theyre all plum tuckered out asleep now.

ladytophamhatt · 28/03/2008 21:38

Evening ladies. Nothing much to reprot here really.
We went to teh farm today to find out about the chickens (did I mnetion that we're getting some??), it absolutley pi$$ed down but I got to wear my new posh wellies so I was happy

The boys are at school for another week then they has 2 weeks off. I knwo it'll be another fraught/frantic 2 weeks but I need a holiday with no early mornings doing lunches and stuff. DS4 will still be up at stuppid o'clock but at least I won't have to get dressed for teh school run.

Had another visit to he doctors yesterday with DS4 and his persistant cough. It just won't go and he's been coughing since before he had chicken pox - over 2 months ago!!!!!
Finally have some anti-b's although the GP said if they don't make it better it might be asthma.

I did 3 loads of washing today. Stil have about 3 more laods leftto do as I can never keep up but hey-ho. Someone on here once said if washing baskets were meant to be empty they'd be made with pictures on the bottom so thats what I live by

Oh mrbojangles, I have 4 boys too.

I don't think I live in a shoe, but it sure feels like it at times. Actually sometimes I think I do live in a shoe - one of the millions we seem to have around here. Why do six pairs of feet require so many shoes? We seem to have school shoes, wellies, trainers, boots, various pairs of Doodles that people are growing into or out of....

Hi everyone,

I have 5 DSs

DS1 26
DS2 25
DS3 19
DS2 14
DS5 9

DS5 has been off school this week with Scarlet Fever-second time he has had it in a year. He is much better now though and we will be going to football training in the morning (no lie-ins for me!)
My laundry baskets are always over-flowing LTH-I do 2 or 3 large loads every day and never catch up!
Our schools are having the holidays starting from 4th April too. One more week of getting up at 6 to do the packed lunches!
