ok- can some of you more experienced owls lend me some wisdom in how you actually keep your 'shoe' clean and when you have time to do it? My 4th is only 4mths and I'm drowning in washing............

There I think that's everyone from the last thread. If you join up from now, just add yourself onto the bottom

sorkycake · 25/03/2008 09:45

Blardy 'ell Psychomum how did you manage that so quick .

Psychomum5 · 25/03/2008 09:46

well.........we had a good easter here, and I am now trying to find room for the many eggs and treasure hunt chocolate they have received.

am rather tho as this year, with my milk allergy, I am unable to share the chocolate with them

we had 15 for roast on sunday, plus some fab friends and their 4 kiddies for dinner yesterday. much wine consumed, making up a teensy bit for the lack of choc.

have just been for DD3's latest bloods this morning, and because she has had so many now (we are 4th wk into 6wk twice a week bloods), her hand veins have now gone into spasm, so the doctor had to dig leading to many many tears.
elbows were no good as they are still bruised from thursday, and they will be the blood test area for friday of this week!

so far tho we are having clear nuetrophile cycles.........we have gone from 2.8 down to 1.3 back up to 2.9 (normal is between 2.5 and 7), so we think I am being proven to be right with regards to her DX. and also , as altho I am wanting and needing a DX to explain why she gets so poorly so often and misses so much school, I also hate it as I am still no closer to understanding it and no closer to finding anyone else who is also going thro it.........tis a scary time, and ASAIK, this means we, as a family, all have to be tested too!!!!

anyway......on a brighter note........NO SCHOOL, NO SCHOOL RUNS

Psychomum5 · 25/03/2008 09:51

PMSL sorky........altho too!!!!

(joke angry face BTW)

you (I think) copy n paste from the previous thread and miss ME out!!!!!!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrr......stomp stomp stomp

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 25/03/2008 09:54

connie....erm....don't know really i usually put a load on before i go to bed, put it in tumble dryer when i get up then out another load on...and repeat through the day! however i tend to just dump washing from tumble dryer on the floor of utility room until DC are in bed then i fold it and put it away the next day it goes on like this everyday......quite boring really!

all the other stuff gets done on set days

claricebean · 25/03/2008 09:57

Wow, a larger family topic. Great idea. I have:

DD1 7 years old
DD2 5
DS 3
DD3 11 months.

sorkycake · 25/03/2008 09:58

sorry for dd, do you know what maybe wrong, or is that what the tests are for?

Never any school runs here anymore

Right we have to get ready NOW we have to be somewhere by 11am, no-one is dressed, baby still asleep, house a bomb site, gotta get cash and petrol AND figure out where we are going, as haven't been before.

Someone kick my behind off 'ere!

juuule · 25/03/2008 09:59

She's quick isn't she, Sorky
I'm feeling doubly included now

Psychomum5 · 25/03/2008 10:01

connie.......when mine were that tiny, I did at least one load per day, sometimes more like three!!

I was and am lucky in that I have the room for 3 clothes airers, and I also have a tumble dryer for the undies, towels and PJ's.

I now only do washing every other day, and as they tend to be able to get at least 2 wears now out of some clothes, it doesn;t pile up so quickly.

oh, and also, I have three washing baskets for the dirty stuff so it gets (kind of) sorted as it get thrown in........that helps massively.

the only thing that now piles me under is stripping the beds in the winter, as trying to dry sheets and duvets about the house is no fun, particularly when they get sick!

DumbledoresGirl · 25/03/2008 10:03

If the main qualification for this is to have 4+ kids, could someone add me to the list?

I have ds1 (11), ds2 (10), dd (8 on Sunday) and ds3 (5).

Flamesparrow · 25/03/2008 10:07

Just being nosey to see what an owl was... was leaning towards oddly weird large society

DumbledoresGirl · 25/03/2008 10:10

Yeah I am not sure I go along with full OWL membership. I know I am in my 40s but I don't want to admit I am old yet.

I thought having children kept you young?

Psychomum5 · 25/03/2008 10:12

sorky.......I am thinking (and finally my new paediatrician is agreeing) that she has cyclical nuetropenia.

tis a blood condition where the white blood cells, mainly the nuetrophils which are the cells to attack any virus/bugs that invade the body, dip in cycles. there are several types of nuetropnia tho, and cyclical is one type.

she was born with chicken pox, and since then we have had a constant variety of illness, and when she was smaller, we seemed constantly in and out of hospital. she has had pnuemonia 3 times, lots of gastro type bugs, lots of tonsilitus (she's now had them out), lots of ear infections, lots of urine infections, seizures, staph infection, strep infection, scarlet fever, many many many illnesses. oh, she also had the most severe reflux seen by her then doc in and NT child, and altho 8lb at birth, was only 15lb on her first b/day as she had constant sickness......she just never grew!

(she is one of the tallest in her class now tho, so she has caught up massively in that regard)

anyhoo......she gets it monthly, and altho she is now 9, it seems to still be happening altho not so severe, nor needing hospital anymore.

I tho saw an artical about someone esle with a child like this and all the sympoms fit. I mentioned it to out then paed, who looked at me as tho I was insane, and yet she had already labeled DD3 as 'bizarre' as she couldn;t understand why she kept getting ill, yet wasn;t prepared to investigate.

we got referred to someone else, he listened, and so far all bloods seem to be confirming what I think! we now have this round of bloods to confirm for certianty, and then we get to go to another doctor speciallising in blood conditions.

tis a hard slog, but finally light at the end of the tunnel, which I have been searching for since she was teeny.

Psychomum5 · 25/03/2008 10:15

hey flame.....you can come and join on the days you get mine on helping me days!!!

Flamesparrow · 25/03/2008 10:23

I have been doing yours so often that I tend not to care how many I look after now.

People always look at me when I say I will have 7 (or 12 when you see silly people and sod off and leave me ), but I think where I went from very little experience with children to babysitting for 4, then 5, then adding in my own, that it just seems normal.

I feel sure they'll let you exchange "old" for the o word of your choice (Odd, outrageous, ordinary etc.... )

Flamesparrow · 25/03/2008 10:24

I was thinking that I could be "occasional" but then that makes it sound like sometimes I'm a bloke

gingeme · 25/03/2008 10:37

Morning lovely ladies. Like I said before I have 5 ds's but two have lived with their Dad for just over a year now all the way up bonnie Scotland. They are coming to stay with us on the 3rd April for a week . This will be the first time they will have met ds5 too.
Im sure I have spoken to some of you before on the word association thread (waves at sparklesand wine)
Well a busy day today as usual. ds5 off for his hearing test at 11 then pick ds3 up from nursery at 11.30. lunch then off to the library.
Ill try to pop by a little later.

Oh could someone add me to the list if you get time please?

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 25/03/2008 10:39

gingeme · 25/03/2008 10:52

Am back from town and civalised coffee at costa. (our tuesday morning treat)
I , with 5 and a dh!! wash probably every day, of course that includes nappies aswell, so maybe twice sometimes.
Annie is being christened on Sunday, and I soo not organised, haven't even sorted her cake yet.

We are trying for number 6 although I am bf 10 mth old, and don't normally get periods until am completely free of feeding no matter how little or often so we will see what mother nature has in mind.

Psycho, your poor little girl, is she ok at the mo? What a worrying time for you all.
My 13 yr dd suffers from Lichen Sclerosis, a skin condition of the genitals. As a baby, I was at the docs weekly, with what they all told me was thrush, no baby gets it that often. Twas only when I stumbled across an article in TV Quick, that I read about a woman who's symptoms fitted exactly. Took it to then GP, who refused to even examine her, telling me, "that is what menopausal women get", She was 6 by now and was in constant pain, where her skin was splitting, sore, etc.
I googled symptoms and found a private dermatologist who had us in the next day, did a biopsy, (bless her, ouch) and confirmed it. She has to use steroids etc, and although it is incurable, it is now controlled, thank god. It's not life threatening, but she did have a rough time, and it is sooo frustrating when noone can give you any answers.

Further to a previous question, I have just got a Nissan Serena, before that i had an Emina, which I loved. Only got 7 seats though so will have to think again when number 6 comes along.
Right am off to wash up now, we are having new kitchen in May so can't wait for my dish washer!!, Woohoo.

Which appliance could you all not live without, washing machine for me..

aGalChangedHerName · 25/03/2008 11:30

I do at least 3-4 washings per day. Does my bloody head in i tell you.

DH works with cars so his stuff needs washing every day and the dd's are still sooo messy they go through loads of stuff too.

How many of us OWLS have a job? I am a CM so i do work but am at home for my lot too.

reindeermum · 25/03/2008 11:33
