continuing on from the last thread which morphed from a discussion about antisemitism to tracking it globally.

I’ve probably missed people out

to start off with something positive - this was a few yeshiva students response to antisemitism ❤️🕎

“Three Jewish college students from NJ were dancing at Denver International Airport. They said they were motivated to do this after the mass shooting in Australia: “We will not be scared or give in to the darkness, we will only add more and more light.” Happy Hanukkah!”

they’re playing my favourite zusha chanuka song, and one of them looks like DHs nephew who lives in America! Had to do a double take and check it wasn’t him!😆

Well done @PurpleThistle7. We’re behind you!

BonneMamanAbricot · 01/10/2026 10:54

Sending strength @PurpleThistle7
We have to know and stand up for what is right, as has always been the case throughout history
I saw a Green Party flyer on the ground yesterday, and someone had written 'WE'RE THE REAL NAZIS' over it. Which gave me some hope.

Well done! I hope you have a lovely day ✡️

How did it go @PurpleThistle7 ? I wear mine all the time and have only had ppl notice it positively - ie other Jews saying glad you’re wearing that.

The Green Party has voted in favour of the Zionism is racism motion. A party now dominated by antisemites.

Of course they have. They are beyond redemption as a serious party now.

That's awful. Will start a thread about that in Politics or AIBU if no one already has. It's important that people who vote Green on environmental issues realises what an antisemitic party it has become.

EdithStourton · Yesterday 15:33

If it's any comfort, the Greens are at about 10% in the polls...

Yup they are in 5th place now behind Labour, Reform, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. They are losing their traditional voter base who most definitely do not wish to be associated with antisemites.

Twiglets1 · Yesterday 15:48

I've started a thread about it on the Politics board.

ErroltheSwampDragon · Yesterday 16:10

Thanks @Twiglets1 and @EdithStourton. I would love to see an alternative party pick up the environment as an issue so those who care about it don't find thenselves grouped with these bigots.

I could be wrong but I can't see many people who care about the environment as an issue continuing to vote Green based on recent events.

It's only a tiny sample but my son and husband both voted Green at the last election and said they wouldn't in the next one while Polanski is in charge.

And that was before the Zionism is racism policy was voted in.

PurpleThistle7 · Yesterday 17:23

What does that even mean. It’s so polarising and yet changes nothing. I already hated them so that’s fine but what actual difference will this make to anything.

maybe if they’re voted in it’s time to go? Before history repeats itself. Maybe this is the sign I didn’t want to ignore

It just spreads more hate and division.

My family has spoken repeatedly about where to go if we did need to leave. It makes me so resentful that this is even something I need to think about when making decisions. I love Britain, and I want to stay here with my friends and family.

YeshKoach · Yesterday 18:28

@PurpleThistle7 that's amazing.
I was given a beautiful Magen David and would love to wear it out. I have my name in Ivrit that I wear openly and when I see someone else wearing similar necklaces it makes me feel so happy and not alone.

NicolaMarlowsMerlin · Yesterday 18:39

Came here to say wasn’t the news from the Green conference really fucking upsetting. I know they aren’t going to be in power, but if the PM does pass new legislation to introduce proportional representation they are the kind of group that would hold swing power in a coalition. It really does make me despair that otherwise seemingly reasonable people can say Zionism=racism; raciscm=bad; war=genocide therefore Israel should cease to exist. Nevermind the bloodbath that would ensue. (Seen some ppl pointing out that the Palestinian charter does not allow for Jews to exist unless they give up religion so at least some small group does see there are problems with this world view). I do worry.

It's bullshit but the small consolation is the Green party won't get elected into power anyway and this vote has showed more clearly to everyone what they stand for now.

PurpleThistle7 · Yesterday 19:14

So I did wear my star and stomped around campus feeling energetic and angry. Then got into a way too long debate with someone on the hateful picket line and burst into tears. So I guess I did it (and will do it again tomorrow) but not sure it was a total success.

My brother is leading services at his synagogue right now and I can’t help being frightened for him. I hate that the holidays are all wrapped up in fear now.

MovingBird123 · Yesterday 23:48

I am very surprised. My boss told me Jews own all the banks, that Israel knew about Oct 7 in advance, and that Jews are not victims when they're rich. What???

I just want to withdraw from society.

“The motion also restates the Green Party’s backing for the right to self-determination and calls for the establishment of a single democratic state throughout historic Palestine.”

Taken from their Green party’s website. Why can’t Jewish people have the right to self-determination?

Because according to the Green Party we are not entitled to the same rights as other peoples.

They are now explicitly racist.

Tbh it's a relief that they've burst the bubble of respectability. It was too easy before for people to deny and use weasel words. This is clear, they want to destroy the Jewish state and punish Jewish people who step out of line, and more people are understanding what has been going on.

Agree with you

Also it is much easier whether racists go full Kanye. That way others can't claim to not know there was racism or say they had not done enough research etc.

This way if someone says they will vote Green everyone will instantly know they are a racist fuckwitt. Therefore we can treat accordingly.

I feel so scared and alone right now; it's so, so surreal.
I was helping at the Simchat Torah lunch in Shul yesterday, casually chatting to the armed police officer in the kitchen and caught myself thinking how entirely crazy it is that I'm offering him a choice of pie and whether he wants cream or ice cream....and then coming out to this utter shit show from the Greens
I'm heartbroken that this is the state of things in the Uk and what feels like the world over.

I’m meeting with the police tomorrow to talk about local threads to the Jewish community. It was their idea. And the other member of the community who is attending suggested strongly we meet in a public place because she doesn’t want the police to know where she lives until she’gets a feel’ for how the officer we are meeting feels really about Jews.

I am not scared but heartbroken yes. Think most of us have felt heartbroken at various points in the last few years.

Some comfort in knowing on this board at least you are not alone and even amongst no Jews there are many people fighting the hate.
