I read the posts on here with interest and often the subject of anti semitism comes up. I was brought up in a town in the South East. My mum gave me a book about Anne Frank when I was around 8 and I can remember asking ' what is a Jew?' as I had never met one. When I was about 14 a girl from northern Israel came to my school and I was asked to befriend her and help her settle in. I can remember being fascinated about her life in a Kibbutz and she used to show me
Hebrew writing. I don't recall ever hearing anything anti semitic about her or her brother as the only two Jewish kids - to my knowledge in the school. I also remember in my twenties encountering a group of lads from North London - white something and them having an absolute hatred for Jewish people. I can remember feeling utterly shocked as I'd never heard anti Jewish speak prior to this. Reading some of the recent posts on here it has made me wonder wherever there are pockets in the Uk with Jewish communities that experience antisemitism where the rest of the UK it does not occur as people simply have never met a Jewish person just their life- to their knowledge.Where I live I have only met 4 Jewish people in the Uk in my life and I am 47. The most Jewish people I have met were in Israel when I visited in 2000.

They did apologise apparently after the uproar and complaints.

What’s the apology worth anyway? Not like any of us believe their half hearted ‘apologies’.

Trudeau managed to ever so carefully miss out the word Jews from his statement too.

Heaven forbid he says Jews. Points for mentioning rising antisemitism, but given the rising and unchecked antisemitism in Canada under his watch, he has some nerve.

the mental thing is that i fear left leaning people MORE than the right. there definately seems to be more vocal jew hating outpouring from the far left than i see from the right. as liberal as so many peoples views are it often doesn't include the jewish community. bottom line, they think we are almighty powerful & minted! an opinion of my regular life experiences, not what i may have read or heard

An excellent test of whether or not someone is an antisemite is when you mention the Holocaust and they ask what about all of the other victims (I’m looking at you MIL)

‘Australian police find explosives for possible antisemitic attack’ 🤮 seriously how much more blatant does it have to be before the bbc can be forced to recognise something is antisemitic? A huge caravan of explosives, with a list of Jewish targets… following escalation in the area including an arson attack on a synagogue… I mean how much more blatant does it have to be ?!

sickening. Both the attempted attack and the BBCs determination to cast doubt and minimise anything that could possibly show that there is actual risk to Jews.

Oh and what really shocked me is that Kanye has twice as many followers as there are Jewish people in the world.

Their open, calm, smiling hatred is absolutely chilling and terrifying. Their colleagues at work must know too. Horrifying.

Does anyone else follow Sivanskitchen on IG? The amount of hate she gets every time she makes an Israeli or Arab dish is wild! Bearing in mind she's of Iraqi heritage herself 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Accusations of being a culture vulture and whatnot.

I really don't get it - Judaism isn't the only religion who believes in the story of Moses and says he was Jewish / an Israelite. In other words, other religions accept that Jews existed in the area already in biblical times?! Yet we are colonisers and should go back to Europe, alternatively up and move to the US because apparently displacing people is ok, just not some people. ARGH!

The go back to Europe is such a stupid comment - where would we even go back to? Of my 3 grandparents that I knew, and the 3 great grandparents I knew, I’ve got Vienna (escaped after kristallnacht), Worms (left as things were heating up, family that remained were murdered in the holocaust, but he escaped to Palestine via France), UK (but his mum was born in France), Palestine x 2 (pre Declaration of Independence)

And I am so not unique with this. I think it’s pretty rare for Jews to have roots of more than a few generations on both sides in the same place. Maybe we would have pre war, but certainly not since the holocaust (true for both European and ME Jews)

Dov Forman wrote a thread on x, highlighting the rise in antisemitism. It’s like Jews are living in an alternative universe to everyone else sometimes, with a few brave souls shouting into the void with us.

It’s just climbing and climbing, and sometimes I’m just in disbelief about how bad it’s got and how unbelievably ignored it is. The swastika Super Bowl thing with Kanye is insane!!! Where are all the people who screamed about Musk’s ‘salute’?! All gone a bit quiet again… Did Francesca Albanese manage to say anything about the absolute state of the three hostages released last week? Think it was crickets there…

Ive been chatting recently to my friend in Australia, and she mentioned some of the crap she’s reading on local Facebook groups, after that caravan with explosives was found, and I just kept thinking why is she still there? That was before this nurse incident.

There was a thread on this site recently where a poster admitted that the scales had fallen from her eyes about Hamas having seen the footage of the three male hostages most recently released. She also quoted some research posted in The Guardian (!) citing that slightly more than half of Gazans preferred a dissolution of Israel, with a single Palestinian state under Islamic law the most preferred solution of all. 20% supported Hamas (but I guess other (terrorist) groups with the aim of a single conservative Islamist state are available). The poster realised that the war wasn't about peace, or a two state solution, it was, indeed, about the annihilation of Jews. I admired her honesty. I only wish more people would cotton on.

Re the hate-filled nurses in Australia. I hope their assertions about killing Israelis is just swagger but we'll also have to wait for the investigations to be finished.

Once again, Jews choose life and Islamists choose hate and death. The silence of the majority around Elon, Kanye, the war, etc. all makes me feel as you do @EllaDisenchanted. The signifiers of hate (for some) and passivity (for others) that led to the Final Solution are clear to see. I now truly understand how the majority's silence and lack of action is what allowed it to happen. It feels so bleak.

It is now exactly 10 years since Dan Uzan was murdered outside a Jewish community centre in Denmark while on guard duty for a bat mitzvah 💔 I'm posting here even though it wasn't a recent event because I don't want him to ever be forgotten. I didn't know him, but it could so easily have been one of my siblings or my dad instead, who at the time all worked/volunteered as guards at our local Jewish community.

I’ve just become aware of the horrendous news from Australia regarding remarks made by two healthcare workers.

I just wanted to come here to say I stand with you against this murderous antisemitic hatred. Their remarks were so terrible and terrifying and they had zero qualms about voicing them. Words fail me 😢
