Antisemitism

I read the posts on here with interest and often the subject of anti semitism comes up. I was brought up in a town in the South East. My mum gave me a book about Anne Frank when I was around 8 and I can remember asking ' what is a Jew?' as I had never met one. When I was about 14 a girl from northern Israel came to my school and I was asked to befriend her and help her settle in. I can remember being fascinated about her life in a Kibbutz and she used to show me
Hebrew writing. I don't recall ever hearing anything anti semitic about her or her brother as the only two Jewish kids - to my knowledge in the school. I also remember in my twenties encountering a group of lads from North London - white something and them having an absolute hatred for Jewish people. I can remember feeling utterly shocked as I'd never heard anti Jewish speak prior to this. Reading some of the recent posts on here it has made me wonder wherever there are pockets in the Uk with Jewish communities that experience antisemitism where the rest of the UK it does not occur as people simply have never met a Jewish person just their life- to their knowledge.Where I live I have only met 4 Jewish people in the Uk in my life and I am 47. The most Jewish people I have met were in Israel when I visited in 2000.

I can’t with the window washing, the above NY attack is so upsetting, no one helps, the comments below the video are horrifying,
but the window washing is so unhinged, hmm what can I do next as I’m antisemitic, and I’ve done all the usual stuff, I know wash windows? wtf

edited for the many spelling mistakes as I have the typing ability of a fish.

It's been particularly nauseating watching people on SM who've been enthusiastically supporting globalising the intifada for the last two years ooze faux sadness and compassion about Matilda's murder. But only Matilda- she's the only Jewish victim they can bring themselves to acknowledge in their performative glomming.

Won’t someone think of mamdani’s aunt?!

Won’t someone think of mamdani’s aunt?!

I just googled that as I wasn’t sure what it meant.

I now see the connection between that and the above post.

Quite unbelievable what people come out with.

They occasionally briefly mention Matilda but most seem to be focusing solely on Ahmed al Ahmed, who undoubtedly did an incredibly heroic thing. But the way that is now the only thing that's being talked about is quite disturbing. They've already forgotten the victims. They've already forgotten the reason Ahmed became a hero - because Jews were under attack. It's incredible how quickly the story changed.

I am NOT suggesting we stop talking about or praising Ahmed. I am suggesting that the fact that it is now all people talk about is problematic. The fact that every post I've seen where someone is grieving their murdered or injured family member, there are at least 10 comments saying "but Ahmed is a Muslim hero". Which is true! He is. But there's a time and a place, and sometimes people just want to grieve their loved ones for a bit. Us Jews never seem to get that luxury though, we're always expected to acknowledge others first before we're allowed to grieve, because we're never allowed to be the victim. Even when we are the ones being targeted.

This is a fake AI profile created for one of the Bondi terrorists. I can’t believe people have actually made videos around this being true. It won’t take you long to spot the inconsistencies.

It's obviously fake but the Anti-Semites do not have critical thinking skills to analyse the source or the information. It is widely shared on social media, and the damage has already been done.

Words fail me.

To use this barbaric attack as yet another opportunity to smear the Jewish community…it is beyond awful and I am so angry for you all.

Ever lower it seems.

EllaDisenchanted · 18/12/2025 06:43

That Hebrew random collection of letters at the top is completely meaningless. What is it even trying to say??
home, about, timeline “feepis” ???
Two of the friends are called “Jewish” as the first name, one underneath is called “Jewish someone “
and mazel at bar mitzva - what does that even mean?!
”add a new friends”

EllaDisenchanted · 18/12/2025 06:45

Also 0/10 for creativity, David cohen is the most unoriginal name for a Jew.

you have to be an imbecile or utterly brain rotted from antisemitism to believe that profile

Humdingerydoo · 18/12/2025 11:09

Also the idea that the terrorist had posted something 18 mins earlier 🤦🏻‍♀️ and wishing people Shabbat shalom 2 mins before that. On a Sunday.

EllaDisenchanted · 18/12/2025 11:23

have not even posted about the amsterdam violent protests at a chanuka concert a few days ago.
Also murder of Israeli nuclear professor a few days ago. (Motives/gunman unknown, but I would say suspect).

Humdingerydoo · 18/12/2025 12:22

And a fire at a matzah factory in Brooklyn. While this might not have been an anti-semitic act (I don't think they've established the cause of the fire yet, but it might just have been an accident rather than arson) the comments on every single post I've seen about it have been horrifying.

Sewingaddict · 18/12/2025 13:59

Saw this while scrolling instagram, poster (Aaden) leaving an antisemitic comment, creator (mistermainer) emails the posters college and tags them letting them know they’re leaving these comments. Love this tbh, accountability, hopefully.

LucyWestenra · 18/12/2025 15:00

I honestly don’t know how you all cope with it; the constant hate, personal attacks, sniping.

Its disgusting and the fact that the final votes on my thread are in and 20% still think IABU is a sobering thought.

What can be done to tackle this when so many people even deny it’s happening?

Sending love to all of you x

LucyWestenra · 18/12/2025 15:09

Sorry, too late to edit my message above.

Just wanted to say I’m well aware that there are plenty of people who full well KNOW there is a problem with antisemitism and just don’t give a f*ck.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 18/12/2025 15:20

Speaking personally, I find it so exhausting and demoralising. I have a friend here who is in her 90s and who was on the Kinder transports. She volunteers at our local stately home and wears her Magen David with pride. She has been spat at. She says she does not care. her parents, her sister all died in concentration camps. She says she's not hiding. She's braver than I am.

We celebrate Christmas here as DH is Anglican and the Dcs know both worlds. I have asked for shooting lessons for my present. It sounds silly perhaps, but I want to know that if I have to wrestle a gun off someone I will know what to do with it. The courage and bravery of Boris Gurman who lost his life and Ahmed al Ahmed. Some people run to save lives.

Edited

I dont even know how to respond to this.

😭

How did we get here?

Although perhaps I have been ignorant too; I of course know about antisemitism, especially being from Germany originally.
When I was 16 my school organised a trip to Bavaria and we visited Dachau concentration camp (even though this was decades ago I still remember it vividly).

I always knew there were people who don’t like Jewish people, blame them for all the ills of the world etc, but I had no idea how widespread it was even before 2023.

I read @EllaDisenchanted ’s opening post from her thread from 2021 and I was shocked. I had no idea. Privilege I guess.

I know things have been getting worse for the Jewish community in Germany too, this started about a decade ago and I hope I don’t come across as a bigot when I say it absolutely is linked to immigration.

Sorry, there is no real point to my post. I just wanted to say again that you do have allies who are disgusted with how you have been treated and continue to be treated.

LucyWestenra · 18/12/2025 16:33

You know what always gets me? Whenever someone says Israel’s response to the barbaric attacks of 07 October was ‘disproportionate’ or ‘not justified’ and people ask ‘How should they have responded?’ they are met with silence.

I watched the documentary and I can’t get those images out of my head.

Shani Louk, the Bibas family…the look on that young mother’s face, it still gives me goosebumps now.

I want to scream and swear at those people who talk about disproportionate retaliation. But there is no point is there.

When I used to post under my previous name of sunflower I started a thread to commemorate the 07 October attacks because nobody had mentioned it (I’m sure you would have on here)

One poster said something along the lines of ‘Yes you’re being unreasonable, we don’t commemorate every accident and death’

????? It was a terror attack

There was one Jewish poster who was clearly very triggered by it all and this poster called ‘nomad’ kept antagonising her.

It was awful to see and no amount of calling her out made her stop.

Sorry, I have lost my train of thoughts again (that’s what I get for having an early glass of wine while prepping veg for tonight’s dinner!)

But yeah, it’s all disgusting.

And don’t get me started on that disgusting Zarah Sultana.

How is she allowed to spout so much hate?? I watched a clip of the Your Party conference and I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

The government in this country is a joke, sorry. And I say this as someone who is married to a Brit (and who agrees with me)

And I know they are now cracking down on ‘Globalise the Intifada’ but it would have been nice if they’d done it a bit sooner!
