I read the posts on here with interest and often the subject of anti semitism comes up. I was brought up in a town in the South East. My mum gave me a book about Anne Frank when I was around 8 and I can remember asking ' what is a Jew?' as I had never met one. When I was about 14 a girl from northern Israel came to my school and I was asked to befriend her and help her settle in. I can remember being fascinated about her life in a Kibbutz and she used to show me
Hebrew writing. I don't recall ever hearing anything anti semitic about her or her brother as the only two Jewish kids - to my knowledge in the school. I also remember in my twenties encountering a group of lads from North London - white something and them having an absolute hatred for Jewish people. I can remember feeling utterly shocked as I'd never heard anti Jewish speak prior to this. Reading some of the recent posts on here it has made me wonder wherever there are pockets in the Uk with Jewish communities that experience antisemitism where the rest of the UK it does not occur as people simply have never met a Jewish person just their life- to their knowledge.Where I live I have only met 4 Jewish people in the Uk in my life and I am 47. The most Jewish people I have met were in Israel when I visited in 2000.

I agree with you @EllaDisenchanted . It's absolutely awful seeing it happen and not being able to do anything to stop it 😔 I fear for the next generation.

Just realised how detached I sound, but I promise it's not from a lack of caring. I think I have reached a point where I just can't fully engage with any of it as it's just too much and too depressing.

I've been feeling the same especially the last few weeks. Demoralised with this really weird feeling like we're just waiting for something awful to happen, and if it does, no one is going to give a fuck. I'm generally pretty positive and chilled, but it's weighing really heavy just now.

That's pretty much how I feel too @Hélène79 . It's not a fun state of affairs, is it?!

I know, I was just trying to say that she's has some other, equally crazy opinions and so trying to figure out what is going on in her brain when she says something like that, to try to make it make sense, is futile. She's just a con artist.

Yeah, not sure it's possible to make it make sense! She just enjoys being offensive and controversial for the sake of it. She's essentially the world's oldest and most attention-seeking teenager. Except teenagers are like that because their brains haven't finished developing yet - they're still learning. I'm not sure what her excuse is.

I woke up more optimistic and positive. I have the freedom app on my phone and computer, so think I will block twitter for longer periods of time. What does it help to swim in the cesspool? If they get me down, they win. I cannot change what they think, I can only choose my own actions, and follow my own beliefs. And that is enough for me.

I'm so sorry you are all feeling like this as well. I've stopped checking Instagram, I follow Jewish content there but it's relentless seeing whats going on.

Nothing we can do will change what's being said out there.

We have to stand together and stay strong.

Anyone else been reading about Fahad Qubati and how he was beaten up in Greece? They only stopped once they determined he wasn't Jewish.

Yup, and the cynic in me is pretty sure that once they saw the cross, even if they'd also known he served in the IDF, they would still have stopped.

I saw the clips from the football Olympics match where Israel was playing, and people in the crowd were chanting Heil Hitler and doing the seig heil during the national anthem. I'm so depressed at this point, by it all.

As a gentile all I can say is it's the most stupid people who jump on the latest anti-Jewish bandwagon, who have No Idea of what has happened historically, who are honestly thick as shit and jumping on the latest SM trend.

If it wasn't so serious I'd feel sorry for them.

I saw this on twitter too. Has it been reported anywhere, eg in any news outlets, does anyone know? I've not seen it outside of social media. Don't know what I'm expecting really, I'm guessing it's not of interest to the wider world. Doesn't fit the current narrative 😞

Argh there's no escape! I'm currently on holiday in Wales, and was walking around beautiful Caernarfon yesterday with the children. They wanted to go into a bookshop, until I saw their charming window display of "Weaponising Antisemitism" by Asa Winstanley, surrounded by a selection of tomes of a similar nature.

Ironically, a few doors down was a pub called "The Black Boy" with a very un-PC logo. Perhaps the local social justice warriors should channel their energies into changing that instead.

I saw an absolutely ridiculous post yesterday claiming the far left doesn't exist in this country and therefore there can be no threat from the far left. Enter stage left Asa Winstanley!

I remember when he got kicked out of Labour and the Jewish Voice for Labour accounts immediately leaping to his defence.

Absolutely disgusting antisemite, so no surprise when they were on his side.

I have had the misfortune of reading most of his dreadful book.
I had to give up 2/3 of the way through. It was just full of inaccuracies and cherry picking quotes, but the most overwhelming and disturbing factor was his absolute hatred of zionism.
It feels like it's has become an obsession for him.

I don't know if he's Jewish or not but I've seen some people suggest he is (usually the same folk who argue there can't be antisemitism at the marches because Jews are there). If he is, he's a very good example of a Jewish antisemite and someone who's driven much of the narrative against Jews among the left. I've seen a few of the 'selective anti-racists' on CITME linking to his work.
