Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I am grateful for all the love and support though and I thank each and every one of you. You are all stronger than you know. I wish I had something profound to say but I don't...: this will have to do!

Looks like by the end of this week I'll have to leave you guys to deal with the Israel-Gaza conflict. I'll have some work to do in that Michael Jackson thread that has gone to shit. So many misinformed posts. 🤷‍♂️

That is quite a contrast in topics 😂

Aye!

But that one really is a dumpster fire of a thread!

At least in the Middle East section, they try to construct an argument better than those! 🤣

Probably won't take too long to do.

@DownNative I couldn't be more surprised tbh :)

Goodness they are sad idiots with that one. Just shout at them to read the Christian bible, you know his followers book. Where it clearly talks about him celebrating Jewish holidays and going to temple etc

I actually have an amusing quote you can use too, from someone the Jewish community adopted with love as one of our own:

Was it here or Twitter where I saw that Jesus was most likely a Muslim as he was born in a predominantly Muslim country?

Trulywonderful · 11/01/2024 22:38

Too a Jewish mother more than 600 years before Islam existed

Even if Jesus was born today his parents were still Jewish. So if born in Gaza would likely be a hostage or dead at this moment. If born in the west bank would still be Jewish. If born in Israel would still be Jewish. I literally have no idea why these people can't think logically about anything

25milesfromhome · 11/01/2024 22:42

I saw an astonishingly delulu reel on Instagram of a man rantsplaining that Hanukkah was actually about ancient Palestinian Muslims called the Maccabees resisting colonisation by the Greeks in the Temple that was actually a mosque. It was really something.

Trulywonderful · 11/01/2024 22:53

Creative writing of not only Jewish history but Islamic history too.

Even the Quran talks about Israel and Jewish people on the holy land. In fact it does clearly state the the holy land and Jerusalem were Jewish. So Islamic history disagrees with this strange rewritten history of these people

Tell these people to go talk to a Islamic scholar about what the Quran says on the matter or just read the Quran themselves

Maybe we should get a head start on Purim? Basically, what I'm suggesting is that we all get very, very drunk. Might make MN more bearable. Also, we can boo Hamas instead of Haman.

Can I put on a costume early too?

If so I am up for that 😁

Of course he was Jewish. The Romans knew it as well. The Roman soldiers taunted him as being the King of the Jews with a crown of thorns before they crucified him.

And there were no Muslims them. Mohammed wouldn’t be born for another six hundred years or so.

Bloody idiots.

Oh yes I forgot the crown of thorns thing

I think some are going down the line of if he was born today type thing. Which again for various reasons wouldn't be correct either

I hate the false facts and lack of logic. However it doesn't bother me too much because I am with Monty Python and The Life of Brian on this one

A new thread in chat that may be worth reading or not

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/4983102-us-uk-set-for-military-action-in-yemen

This is weeks overdue. In addition to the attacks on commercial shipping, the Houthis have fired on US warships in the area. That should have resulted in an immediate and equivalent response.

The thread is what you’d expect on MN these days.

History has shown that the Iranians are rational actors who can be deterred by a show of strength. They’ve never used naval mines again after this.

He did celebrated Passover, including at the Last Supper.

I loved The Life of Brian, but it was controversial when it came out.

A CHRISTIAN GUIDE TO PASSOVER

Passover is part of Jesus’ story. Jesus was a Torah-faithful Jew who grew up celebrating the feast of Passover according to the tradition of His family and the Jewish community He was raised in. The Gospels also reveal that Passover was the climax of Jesus’ life and ministry. Luke records the moment when Jesus “set His face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). From this time on, Jesus was determined to make the pilgrimage to Jerusalem for Passover, where He would be sacrificed as “our Passover lamb” (1 Cor 5:7). Even though the traditional Passover Seder developed after the time of Jesus, it can still teach us about the many ways the story of Israel converges with the story of Jesus.

For thousands of years, Jewish people around the world have recounted the exodus story through the feast of Passover. Recently, a growing number of Gentile Christians have also begun to observe Passover. Desiring to reconnect in a greater way to the Je...

Not only has Germany publicly opposed South Africa's case against Israel, but so has Canada.

The Canadians will put out a more detailed statement later setting out their position. 👍
