Hi ladies, so, as the title reads, I start the injections tomorrow evening. I have an appointment with my clinic (Care) tomorrow morning for the baseline scan and to get the treatment plan. Meds have arrived so we are ready to go! My AMH is 8.3 with follicle count of 14.

I had my son via IVF 11 years ago and was very lucky that it worked first time and on the NHS. This time it's private and costing a fortune. This is the only shot we have at this so we are feeling the pressure for sure.

I fell pregnant last month naturally (first time ever due to PCOS) but that ended in a chemical at 5 weeks. We are opting for PGTA testing and keeping everything crossed for a euploid.

Is anyone else starting this journey?

@Magix86 and @IndigoBluey Fingers crossed for you! Glad the transfers went smoothly.

@overwork that's exciting!! DH's worst nightmare is twins but it did seem like if we were clear on what we wanted the clinic would take that on board and seriously consider it. Fingers crossed you get the outcome you want. Twins would be so hard but after fighting to get 1 healthy baby it's hard to imagine truly being too upset with 2 if that's how it ends.

Hi All, I’ve been avoiding mumsnet for a while tbh. Had a mixed experience with the nhs, slow, then missed the age cut off. I’m 44, also had a tricky ride with poor admin with private ivf. But have retrieval booked for Fri. Currently have 2 measuring over 18mm and a clutch just below, next scan on Wed so hoping for a few more.

Silly questions - do any of you have super stressful jobs? I come back from these appointments and then to go to shouty / intense meetings and expecting to corralle a large team etc is killing me.

and running / exercise I’ve continued to run slowly throughout stims, will I be able to run post retrieval / pre implant? I’ll likely stop post implantation but I need to run based on the stress from my job.

IndigoBluey · 28/10/2026 10:58

@overwork I hope your collection went ahead on Monday and you’re a lot less uncomfortable than you were last week.

@CointreauQuaint my job can be stressful at times so this time around I took time off for collection and transfer and blocked out time before scans too and just tried to focus more on myself. I stopped intense exercise classes as was doing hydrox style and read twisting and lifting weights was not recommended. I quite enjoyed stepping back a bit and enjoying a slower pace with walking plenty and swimming too. When are you planning to start treatment?

CointreauQuaint · 28/10/2026 12:17

Thanks @IndigoBluey did you book annual leave or take sick leave? My doctor is happy to sign me off but I’m also wary I may need that in coming weeks.

I've stopped any lifting, twisting and jumping exercise but am still gently jogging. I had planned to go a gentle run pre my trigger injection tonight and then see how I feel post retrieval (fri) pre transfer (wed) but reading a bit more it seems to be that is not recommended due to ovaies still being enlarged. It’s such a minor thing written down, but running is the one thing that clears my mind.

Hope all going well after your transfer @IndigoBluey !
Also hope the egg collection went well @overwork and you've had some time to rest afterwards.

I'm 6dp5dt today and negative unfortunately. I had been feeling quite hopeful for this one so it’s left me feeling a bit down to be honest! We have one transfer remaining in our bundle we've paid for so we'll be asking for a double transfer next time and if that doesn't work then will have to think if there are any tests etc that we need to consider before trying again.

IndigoBluey · 28/10/2026 21:29

I am sorry to hear that @Magix86 especially as you had been feeling hopeful. I just admit I don’t know about test timings other than what the clinic advised me, 2 week test period and I know it’s so common to test before then but is there a chance it is too early to test and might you test again in a few days? I’m fine, just feel like normal really and not getting any hopes up.

Magix86 · 28/10/2026 21:44

Thanks @IndigoBluey I know it is early and part of me still hopes that tomorrow might show a positive. But if it's not positive tomorrow at 7 days then I'm pretty sure I'm out. With my son I was negative at 5 days but then positive at 6 days. I'm glad you're doing good and resisting the torture of testing early!

overwork · 29/10/2026 07:36

Oh @Magix86 I’m sorry, how disappointing for you

overwork · Yesterday 15:37

Hi all. I did have my egg retrieval last Monday, and I am only just starting to feel normal again. I doubt I’ve had OHSS as I don’t have a single risk factor, but I have been so ill, bloated, cramping, pain, nausea and lethargy. Nothing like the previous 2 when I just took the day after off as a precaution and watched terrible TV.
And the egg retrieval went terribly too, different surgeon this time and despite me responding really well and having the most follicles I’d ever had, he only got 5 eggs and we only had one blast to freeze (I was meant to have a fresh transfer but tbh I wouldn’t have physically been able to bend to put the pessaries in, let alone let them near me on transfer day).
So I hold out zero hope, but as we’ve already paid for the transfer and I have the first lot of progesterone, we may as well have a it transferred in a month or two and see what happens.
Hope you’re all doing well.

Magix86 · Yesterday 16:23

@overwork I've been thinking about you! I'm so sorry this egg collection didn't go as well and for how you're feeling, that sounds so horrible 😞
I have read of people getting OHSS even with lower follicle and egg numbers tho. Have your clinic said anything about it? Really hope it eases up for you soon.
Have the clinic said anything about the egg numbers compared to your follicles? I can imagine that must be disappointing. But I can understand giving this 1 embryo a shot! Have they graded it?

overwork · Yesterday 17:45

Thanks @Magix86 , been thinking of you too after your latest round.
The clinic weren’t hugely concerned as I didn’t get worse after the first day, I just didn’t get better either! I also wasn’t putting on weight. Infact I was losing it, because my stomach was so bloated I couldn’t eat.
I’m wondering if I’d already ovulated, as I had far fewer eggs than follicles (I know this can happen, but I’ve had three rounds and this hasn’t been my usual pattern) and only 2 fertilised (which again is less than normal, usual we have a reasonable conversion rate), and they got me to trigger a day later than the previous round. But of course they’re insistant that it was just one of those things.
It’s a day 6 3AB (it did make a blastocyst by day 5 but they wanted to leave it longer to see if the number would increase).

Magix86 · Yesterday 18:22

@overwork oh how frustrating! Definitely something to follow up with the clinic if you think you ovulated early, having a later trigger too. But I can imagine they will say it's one of those things they can't control. It's such a minefield, something you can try differently can either go better or worse but you don't ever know unless you try it. If that makes sense?!
A 3AB is very good though. Will be sending allll the positive vibes for that one!
