42 and starting IVF treatment tomorrow - would love some company for the journey ☺️

Hi ladies, so, as the title reads, I start the injections tomorrow evening. I have an appointment with my clinic (Care) tomorrow morning for the baseline scan and to get the treatment plan. Meds have arrived so we are ready to go! My AMH is 8.3 with follicle count of 14.

I had my son via IVF 11 years ago and was very lucky that it worked first time and on the NHS. This time it's private and costing a fortune. This is the only shot we have at this so we are feeling the pressure for sure.

I fell pregnant last month naturally (first time ever due to PCOS) but that ended in a chemical at 5 weeks. We are opting for PGTA testing and keeping everything crossed for a euploid.

Is anyone else starting this journey?

Hello! All the clinics do things so different don’t they, why did you have to take norehisterone, did they say?

They said to schedule my cycle

@overworkits all such a long wait isn't it! Yes, tomorrow they will scan and see how many follicles and what size then give me time for trigger.

@Sheffters good luck for your scan today, that has come round so quickly! I start my medication of Thursday and it will be 3-4 weeks of meds. I start on buserilin in the mornings for 7-14 days and then add menopur in the evenings.

@Onesaddog I wonder if your medication protocol will be similar to mine. My next scan will be when my period comes after 7-14 days of the first medication

Just got back. They said that follicles measuring over 14mm likely contain mature eggs. They said my 13's will catch up.bu Wednesday so we are looking at hopefully 10 mature eggs. Will trigger tonight. Feeling very emotional today, a mixture of relief and anxiety I think. Good luck this afternoon! X

It is however I am now frantically googling stats on likelihood of euploids 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

The average attrition funnel is 30-50% of fertilised eggs reach blastocyst and then c. 20% of blastocysts at 42 are euploid. But it's possible to do luckier!

That’s fabulous, well done for getting this far! Your right ovary is putting in a shift there for you isn’t it! I think it’s about 1 in 5 at our age isn’t it?

Hello! Would you mind if I joined too please? I'm just starting on my second round of IVF, with our first in 2024 being successful with a fresh transfer.
We're doing a duo stim cycle so 2 egg collections back to back.
I finished norethisterone on Saturday so just waiting for my bleed now and then I'll start stim injections on Friday!
Feeling quite calm about it all this time round but also a bit anxious about how many eggs and embryos we might get.

Hello! I’m also considering a duostim, I have a consultation later this week to discuss it. I mainly just want it over and done with and looking at @Shefftersstats above, I’m pretty certain I’ll be needing two or three rounds anyway!

I was 31 the last time I had IVF and this definitely feels very different anxiety wise. Last chance saloon for us. I wish we could have afforded to do more egg retrievals for sure.

Baseline scan showed 7 follicles on one ovary and eight on the other so starting on meriofert today. Fingers crossed

Hi all can I join? I'm a couple of days into stims for my first egg retrival. I've got my follicle check tomorrow so fingers crossed the results are what the doctors want to see. I'm hoping (based of nothing but my own thoughts) to be scheduled to ER early next week. I'm fluctuating between feeling like I have a ton of symptoms and thinking the meds aren't working because I don't feel anything so hoping tomorrow brings me some sort of positive feelings.

@PearOpal welcome! Keeping everything crossed for you. I didn't notice many side effects until I was 4/5ish days in so don't be discouraged!

@Onesaddog you have great numbers for your baseline! Excellent news

@overwork good luck for your consultation! Our doctor initially said duostim wasn't done that often anymore, although didn't really explain why! We were weighing up whether to go for a multicycle package or duostim and eventually decided that duostim now would be our best chance of banking embryos.

@Sheffters thank you. We got 2 embryos on day 5 last time after getting 16 eggs collected and knowing I'm now that bit older makes me worried about the numbers. We waited a long time to have treatment on the NHS for our first round and I also wish we'd have started sooner, but nothing we can do about that now, just have to go with it and hope for the best 🤞🏻

@Onesaddog that sounds like a good number for a Baseline scan! Hope the injections go OK for you

day two of injections, feel a bit nauseous and tired but don’t know if it’s a symptom, in my head or just generally tired from emotional rollercoaster of last few years

@Onesaddog im glad you’re relatively ok early in. Do you know how long you’ll be on Stims for? I’m sorry these years have taken such an emotional toll. It’s hard going through this all consuming struggle and then living life like normal surrounded by people that don’t really understand
