BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

Scan went really well! Baby has a strong heartbeat and is measuring at 7 weeks so 1 day behind but that’s fine. God I cried and cried, even DH had a tear 😅 I’m officially discharged from my clinic now and can start weaning off cyclogest 🤞🏻

@captainsmal amazing news so pleased for you!!!

I’m so happy for you! What a journey this has been from first posting on the other group to now….

My turn on Tuesday!

How long did your appointment last?

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 17/04/2025 14:56

Hooray! Great news @captainsmalreally happy for you xx

captainsmal · 17/04/2025 16:53

Thanks everyone! I cried for ages afterwards 😅
@LincolnshireHollyhock good luck for Tuesday! It wasn’t long maybe 20 mins? She checked baby obviously and then ovaries etc and then asked a few questions and gave us our scan photos and how to wean off cyclogest. Apparently I still have really large ovaries because of the fresh transfer which explains why I feel so huge already, and I have some fluid in the uterine pouch that she said will probably go away by itself but it’s all normal from IVF.

Ngall24 · 17/04/2025 17:29

@captainsmal congratulations!
Just wondering how are you going to wean of the cyclogest? I think mine is just stopping at 10 weeks along with my progesterone injections..id feel more comfortable weaning off it though! X

captainsmal · 17/04/2025 17:32

@Ngall24 thanks! So I have about a weeks worth left at two a day so she said when I get down to the last 4 or so swap to one a day and then stop. So probably 5 more days twice a day then 4 days one a day then stopped

Xwx1010 · 17/04/2025 19:30

Spoke to the EPAU and I’m to keep on with the progesterone until w16! Probably due to the bleeding/hematoma. My overies were only back to normal size this week at w10!

Hi all,
Just recently found out I was pregnant with my 2nd FET. I had good HCG levels not sure if it was too high but nurses seemed fine with it(they were looking for 100 and mines was sitting at 249). I've been spotting since day 5 after transfer and haven't really stopped. Sometimes it's brown other times it's pink. Just really nervous that something is wrong or it's just the progesterone suppositories irritating my cervix... is anyone else in the same situation or had something similar happen... I'm now about 4.5weeks along so still early days but the 7 week scan seems so far away.
I hope everyone is fairing well! 😊

@Xwx1010 I’ve also been told something similar. The docs said that I’d need to continue taking meds as normal for the first 3 months and that I’ll continue taking until 6 months but they’ll tell me what to increase and decrease etc. But the past week or so, I’ve been getting red rashes and my skin has been quite itchy where the injection sites have been so I’m going to see how the scan goes this Saturday and then mention it and see if I can get it sorted.

VeryConfuzzled · 18/04/2025 02:08

@Phoenix87 Welcome aboard! I understand the feelings of apprehension, but a result of 249 IU/L is still pretty good for weeks 4-5. I know that it’s easier said than done, but try not to worry and focus on things that relax you and make you happy.

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 18/04/2025 08:02

Congratulations @Phoenix87 and welcome to the thread. I know spotting is very worrying but it sounds like implantation bleeding to me. Your HCG levels are really good so I really hope things go well for you.

Re Meds I’ve been told to wean off injections and patches at 10 weeks and then to taper the prognovia and cyclogest from 12-14 weeks. I had a fully medicated transfer but she did also say that it’s basically placebo at that point.

Phoenix87 · 18/04/2025 08:45

Thanks @PrincessofLiechtenstein and @VeryConfuzzled for replying, trying to relax and not over think. I've given the ivf clinic a phone anyway since I need to arrange for some medication pick up and will just ask... I'm convinced the bleeding is getting heavier, but I guess it's a waiting game to see what happens.

Hi everyone - thank you for your kind messages and sorry for not being on her until now - the last few days have been rough. Was discharged from hospital yesterday - the OHSS is going to persist for the next 8-12 weeks but the risk of the fluid moving to my lungs has hopefully gone now. So relieved to be home!
hope everyone is doing okay and has a relaxing Easter Sunday x

Charmofgoldfinch · 20/04/2025 08:00

@captainsmal - congratulations! So nice to hear that your scan went well ☺️

welcome @Phoenix87 and congratulations on your positive test 🩷

Xwx1010 · 20/04/2025 08:43

@Phoenix87 welcome & congrats.

@Charmofgoldfinch oh gosh what a rough ride you’ve had. Really hope things start to settle down for you 😩 how many eggs did you have collected btw? Xx

OP posts:
Charmofgoldfinch · 20/04/2025 09:21

@Xwx1010 - 15 eggs from 22 follicles. So only just into the OHSS zone and they had put me on blood thinners from egg collection and were monitoring but I still got very ill. I’m petite (5ft 2) so the doctors think that increased my risk as my body is less able to cope with the drugs and there’s less space for the fluid leaking out from the ovaries to go basically - although at my worse I had 7kg of fluid in my abdomen which I think anyone would have suffered with - I looked very pregnant!
if anyone is suffering from symptoms from a bit of fluid still from egg collection then egg whites (up to 4/day - cooked) will help to shift it as albumin breaks down fluid - but obviously go to clinic first as it won’t shift it alone x

captainsmal · 20/04/2025 11:04

@Charmofgoldfinch wow glad you’re doing better now! That’s a good tip about the egg whites, I still have a bubble of fluid above my uterus that they saw on my scan Thursday, I also look like I already have a bump too! And my ovaries are still huge but the plus side is she said they’ll be releasing lots of progesterone at that size so that’s why I can wean off so early now

Phoenix87 · 20/04/2025 11:29

@Charmofgoldfinch I've got pcos so I was prone to ohss when I had my egg retrieval. The bloating was unreal and I think that also aggravated my ibs, I was in quite a bit of pain that ended up in a&e. Thankfully it wasn't blood clots or anything like that (i was also on blood thinners). I hope it goes down soon!

After my phone call to the clinic, they offered me another blood test for Monday... fingers crossed its still OK 🤞

Xwx1010 · 20/04/2025 12:03

Sounds really tough, you’re a trooper.
I got 19 eggs and they were veering towards a freeze all but let me decide on the fresh transfer. I had cabergoline and lots of protein and electrolytes after, seemed to have just about managed to keep it at arms length but I tall so perhaps that made a difference.
i was quite tender for a while after and my ovaries have only just gone back to normal size at 10w!

@Charmofgoldfinch Hope you were able to take it easy once you were discharged 💐.

@Phoenix87 Best of luck with your blood test. Your initial results looked promising so try not to worry too much 🍫.

@captainsmal It’s great that you can wean off the progesterone. Congratulations on your scan. That’s great news 🥳.

@Xwx1010 Hoping that by the next scan the the subchorionic hematoma will have fully resolved! 💐

@PrincessofLiechtenstein I’ve also been told that I need to continue all meds until May because of medical history. I can’t wait because I’ve been developing an itchy rash at the injection sites so I’ve been given prescribed some sort of cream but I forgot to pick it up from the pharmacy after my scan.

I am measuring a full week behind what I’m supposed to be so I’ve been scheduled for another scan in the next two weeks. I have had early losses from 6-8 weeks in the past so I really am trying to focus on just completing each day.

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 21/04/2025 20:48

@VeryConfuzzledhope you are doing ok? Glad you have another scan scheduled soon. It’s impossible not to worry isn’t it.

I know what you mean about being ready to stop the injections. I feel like a pin cushion. Covered in little bruises!

I had another bout of brown discharge yesterday that was slightly weird- honestly the texture of old PVA glue. Trying not to stress about it as I know it’s old blood but it does feel like I can never relax. Had a nice weekend doing some walking otherwise though. What’s everyone else been up to?

Xwx1010 · 21/04/2025 20:52

@PrincessofLiechtenstein more brown for me too! Feel ok actually knowing it’s prob the SCH. Obviously be lovely not to have this worry but you’re not alone. Kind of resigned to the fact I’ll probably bleed for the foreseeable. (My sonographer did say it can change consistency to sticky / thicker as it solidifies) xx

OP posts:
LincolnshireHollyhock · 21/04/2025 20:54

Hope you are all okay and had good weekends x

Phoenix87 · 21/04/2025 21:26

I had my blood test today and my hcg levels are in their 4000 so it's definitely been doubling! Still bleeding but definitely a dark red so not even brown... I've been booked in for an early 6 week scan next Wednesday, so will see how that goes!
I hope it goes well for everyone too, it's so hard not to worry when something unexpected happens!
