BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@Xwx1010nothing really to say why it happened. She said there is always some blood and she told me to stop taking my blood thinner tonight so I think she things it might be linked to that. She also checked very carefully for a PUL as I had a double transfer but that was all clear. I might get more info on Tuesday when I see the doctors in my clinic.

Sorry that you are still spotting. Really hope things are still ok at your next scan. The retching might be a good sign as well even if it is really horrible to experience.

@captainsmalalso sorry to hear about your cramps. Are they different to the ones you have had before? Your scan is also on Wednesday right?

Xwx1010 · 13/04/2025 20:32

@PrincessofLiechtenstein it’s harder when they don’t find a reason for the bleeding I think! Like to just not know and not be able to explain it means you’re brain is automatically left with worst case scenario.
im having some lower back pain too so feeling very worried.

I think a lot of us have scans next week 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@PrincessofLiechtenstein thursday for me, they’re just like mild period pains and sometimes twinges and lightning crotch so it’s probably just normal stretching etc but every little thing causes me anxiety at the moment I think!

I actually feel like this part is worse than the actual ivf, anyone else get that? 😅 I guess during the ivf I was guarding myself/didn’t believe it would work but now I have my hopes up so will be worse if anything bad happens if that makes sense. I have a load of symptoms so I’m hoping that’s a good sign right?? God I just want these next few days over with already so I can find out lol 🙄

Is everyone else doing better this evening? Hopefully we will all have lovely nice good news scans this week 🤞🏻

LincolnshireHollyhock · 14/04/2025 13:02

Good luck for everyone with scans this week.

How is everyone doing?

Feeling okay? @PrincessofLiechtenstein

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 14/04/2025 17:13

Yeah I’m completely fine today @LincolnshireHollyhock apart from the usual general hungover feeling. It’s really surreal. I do wish they can come up with a reason tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone with scans this week!

Ngall24 · 14/04/2025 17:29

Hi All

I hope everyone is okay and I'm sorry some have had a difficult weekend.
I had my scan yesterday and baby is measuring perfectly for 8 weeks and 2 days and we saw a strong heartbeat which was lovely.
Glad we did the extra scan..obviously i was only reassured for a few hours and now I am back to being anxious before our next scan on the 24th April. How I envy people who have normal pregnancies!
X

spttc · 14/04/2025 18:33

@Ngall24 my first and 2nd pregnancies were "normal" - the 2nd ended in miscarriage, that's why I did ivf this time as - I could pgt test & get progesterone support but crucially I felt I could have extra embryos frozen - so I felt if I did miscarry I wasn't completely back to square one with months and months of ttc as I was last time. Miscarriage rate is no lower in normal pregnancies and the worry is the same, or for me worse tbh. I do think there are big benefits to doing ivf 💯☺️ I can assure you over on the natural pregnancy threads they're all biting their nails too 😫

Ngall24 · 14/04/2025 18:48

@sptt I have had two traumatic miscarriages prior to this pregnancy which is what I was referring to when I said "normal pregnancy." I meant being pregnant without having suffered a previous loss where you are blessed with a little bit of nieveity. Our embryo was not pgta tested whereas I would not have even worried about it being aneuploid before miscarrying and going through IVF x

spttc · 14/04/2025 20:39

@Ngall24 ah ok yeh same. Pregnancy after miscarriage isn't the same. I too am very nervous. I was definitely more naive before my miscarriage - just how instantly it was all over with no symptoms or anything. tbh it did traumatize me that badly that it's the reason I turned to ivf

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 15/04/2025 07:16

@Ngall24great to hear the foot news from your scan. I know what you mean about the wait though. It’s so hard. After today my next scan is 12 may which is too far away! Think I will book a private one at 10 weeks.

id anyone is in London and can recommend a clinic let me know

OneWaryCat · 15/04/2025 07:23

We are 13 weeks today. Official next scan is now not until mid June. I'm going to try really hard not to go for a private scan before then.

We have a holiday at the end of this month which will take me to mid May. Hoping for some nice r&r and for no scary symptoms whilst away.

Feel much better now I'm on the progesterone pessaries again, it's like a 'safety blanket', even if it is annoying to do each day.

Charmofgoldfinch · 15/04/2025 16:52

Hi everyone- I hope it’s okay for me to join and everyone is okay today. I was on the IVF March 2025 chat and got my positive result today. A bit shocked to be honest - I didn’t have any pregnancy symptoms - I don’t think it will sink in for a while x

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 15/04/2025 16:55

Well the scan went fine, although she did say there wasn’t much point scanning again so soon and I didn’t have to have another on if I didn’t want to- what a silly question 😅.

All looks ok, measuring correctly and FHR of 168 which seems pretty much in range.

They have booked me in for another scan in two weeks and given me instructions for weaning off meds. Assuming all is ok then I will be discharged from the clinic.

Just hope the bleeding has stopped for good now!

That’s fantastic news - how are you feeling?

my first scan is Tuesday and I’m trying to concentrate on other things 🙃..

Ive read coconut water is very good for pregnant women!

More good news - 13 weeks is certainly a milestone to tick off.

Where are you headed for your holiday?

(sorry for multiple messages)

VeryConfuzzled · 15/04/2025 18:37

@Charmofgoldfinch Congratulations 🥳. Don’t worry if you don’t have any symptoms. Speaking from past experience, not having symptoms is a blessing in disguise because it helps to avoid the stress of spotting and analysing symptoms.

captainsmal · 15/04/2025 18:52

@Charmofgoldfinch congrats!
@PrincessofLiechtenstein glad your scan went well! Mines Thursday 😬😬🤞🏻

VeryConfuzzled · 15/04/2025 18:54

@LincolnshireHollyhock My first scan is this Saturday. I’ve been avoiding Mumsnet for a while. I don’t think I’ll take anything as a positive until I’m past the first trimester so I’m trying not to get too emotionally attached and start looking at due dates and milestones etc. because I’ve had early losses before which is why my doctors are happy to do blood tests from the get go. It’s just that now I know all the different ranges, it was very difficult not to compare the results to my previous pregnancies. So this time, since I’m with the IVF clinic, I made sure to always ask questions and repeatedly ask the same questions if I don’t understand and note things down 😅. I made the mistake with the dates before because I put it in wrong in my calendar so now I ask the clinic specifically for the dates and I add that straightaway.

Charmofgoldfinch · 15/04/2025 19:10

thanks @LincolnshireHollyhock - how are you?
i don’t have any symptoms but the only clue that I had that I might be pregnant was that my OHSS worsened since embryo transfer and now I’m in hospital under observation - it’s been a weird day! I was admitted to hospital and then got the call from the clinic telling me I was pregnant whilst I was trying to eat my hospital lunch 🙈 not the scenario I had planned to find out I was pregnant! it’s reassuring knowing that I’m being looked after and monitored though.
@captainsmal - good to see you on here. Is that your 6 week scan?
@PrincessofLiechtenstein - good to see you on here too - nice to see some familiar names from the previous thread (as well as new names)

@OneWaryCat That sounds promising! Hope you enjoy your break. It’s best not to do too many scans if you can avoid it and June isn’t too far away so hopefully it’s not too long of a wait.

captainsmal · 15/04/2025 21:11

@Charmofgoldfinch oh no! Is the ohss really bad? What a way to find out 🙄
It’ll be just over 7 weeks by the scan, I’m 7 weeks tomorrow 😬🤞🏻 really nervous

@Charmofgoldfinch Hopefully you get a clean bill of health and that there aren’t any complications 💐. How long are you going to be kept under observation for?

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 15/04/2025 22:35

Lovely to see you here @Charmofgoldfinchcongratulations! Sorry to hear about the OHSS though. I hope they are looking after you properly. What’s the treatment plan.

@captainsmalyou are exactly a week behind me, It’s nice to tick up a week isn’t it, I keep reminding myself that every week that goes by the better the chances get.

@VeryConfuzzledgood luck for your scan on Saturday, how many weeks will you be then? I totally understand about not wanting to think too much about it all or get your hopes up.

captainsmal · 15/04/2025 22:50

@PrincessofLiechtenstein I know I love seeing the different pics each week of what size it is etc. Apparently it’s a grape tomorrow 😅 I think I’ll be more calm about this after the scan Thursday if it’s all well and I can see a heartbeat etc
