BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@captainsmal I don’t have any experience of course but does sound like the being curled up has impacted the measuring and just a few mm/cm prob pushes it out loads at 12 weeks. My dating scan put me 3 days ahead but that’s because baby had its legs completely stretched out. I think position really does make a difference. Sounds like the fetal medicine is just a standard referral process in these situations - so they can do some more measuring - hopefully baby is more awake at your next scan and you’ll get a few more scans at least. Totally normal to be worried though regardless and I’m sure I’d feel the same.
I had a banana before I went in last time and baby was literally bouncing around so try something sugary in the car before the next one to get them going a bit. Hope you’re ok xxx

@captainsmal agree with @Xwx1010 it sounds like they’re just following standard protocol so referred you to FMU. Hopefully baby is no longer curled up at the next scan so you can get a more accurate measurement. Glad to hear that other than this all are well with baby. I can empathise with the worry however as anything outside the expected result my brain goes into overdrive. This is also my first pregnancy so I also have no experience re 3rd percentile but maybe post in the pregnancy forum to hear from others?

captainsmal · 30/05/2025 22:06

@Xwx1010 @Ivf4203 yeah I think you’re both right and it’s the position which threw it out, she really struggled to get a good measurement and in the end took what she said was “the best one she could”
I actually had a doughnut just before cos my sister told me the sugar thing helps wake baby up but apparently not! I told my husband that’s clearly his half of the baby today as it was being naughty 😂
They definitely said it’s just a standard protocol to refer and they were just warning us so I didn’t freak out when I got a phonecall from them, but of course even if they say don’t worry I’m gonna worry lol!!
I’m just trying to stay positive that heartbeat was strong, all the body parts were good and in proportion, so it’s either a mistake in measurements or maybe I’m just gonna have a normal but smaller baby lol 🤷🏼‍♀️

How is everyone?

LincolnshireHollyhock · 03/06/2025 19:32

Hi everyone,

I'm now officially in trimester 2!
I thought I’d got away with no symptoms in the first trimester and this week so far I’ve had tension headaches, my gums/ teeth ache and what I think have been occasional growing pains in my tummy.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 03/06/2025 21:27

Definitely had a few headaches and random stomach pains.

I’ve just come back from holiday which was great. But unfortunately have picked up Covid as a coming home present 😩. Feeling pretty rough to be honest, just hoping the baby’s ok.

captainsmal · 03/06/2025 22:23

@LincolnshireHollyhock since I’ve started 2nd trimester I’ve had more headaches, also started getting acid reflux a little bit some evenings after dinner too. I’ve had stretching/growing pains throughout and same with my gums- the amount of blood every time I brush my teeth these days is crazy! Lol
@PrincessofLiechtenstein oh no! Covid sucks 🥲 hope you’re getting lots of rest and fluids!

I had a call from the foetal medicine today and they want me to come for a scan on 19th June to check the baby’s growth out. I already had midwife on 18th and my private gender scan on the 20th so I’m now thinking F it, just gonna take that whole week off work lol 😂 still hoping baby measured so small last week from being too curled up to measure accurately 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I guess it’s good they’re being thorough and checking but it’s definitely added worry tbh!
I also went and viewed a new house today and signed for it so looks like we’ll be moving around the 30th… now I need to sort and pack a whole 3 bedroom house within the next few weeks while I’m also pregnant lol 😂 must be mad!

BellaRosex · 05/06/2025 09:57

Hi all, glad to hear everyone is going well!

@captainsmal the headaches and acid reflux hit me like a tonne of bricks too when I moved into the second trimester! Seems to have eased a bit thankfully.

Xwx1010 · 05/06/2025 10:47

Another hand up for headache club!
god these weeks are going snail pace until my 20w scan, 2 1/2 weeks left 😩

I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling like this - the added symptom for me this week is hay-fever!!!

Have booked to go to the GP as I have no idea what we can and can’t take?!?

14 weeks today and what a ride it’s been so far… who said trimester 2 was the easy one? 🙃🙃🙃

It honestly only started easing for me at 18 weeks!! 🙈

deffo still go to GP but BUMPS website has advice on medication safe to use during pregnancy - although not all drugs are on there - www.medicinesinpregnancy.org

captainsmal · 05/06/2025 14:02

Also in the 14 weeks club and my boobs are killing me again this week!! It kinda stopped for a bit, bet they’re having another growth spurt… already gone up 3 cup sizes in the first trimester so god knows how huge they’ll be by the end 😂 and they weren’t exactly small to begin with!

mostly now just getting loads of twinges and sharp pains around my uterus area, think it’s round ligament pains. Also hoping it means uterus is stretching/baby is having a growth spurt and won’t be 3% next scan on the 19th 🤞🏻

anyone else feel like pregnancy is way more stressful than the actual IVF? Lol

Xwx1010 · 05/06/2025 16:16

@captainsmal yes I do! But very fortunate for it to have worked first transfer so that’s probably why!

I had big boobs anyway but they’re actually a joke now, I work from home so most of the time I’m braless for comfort - and I’ve put on like 8lb too which was a shock!

I have loads of twinges, cramps throughout the day usually, nothing lasts long just comes and goes.

Had a few minutes of panic yday thinking I could smell anatomic fluid but had nothing today so think I’m just going insane!

very tempted to book in another reassurance scan after that bleed a few weeks back but doing my best to hold out until 23rd, if only I didn’t have anterior placenta and could start to feel movement for reassurance 😩

woken up a few times on my back so really trying to stop that but I don’t like my pregnant pillow - it’s just too big and too much when it’s a warm. Have to try another one I think or just try with some pillows/towels for the time being x

@Xwx1010 same here! I haven’t gained any weight yet but I gained a stone during ivf so I feel like whatever I would’ve lost after ivf if it hadn’t worked, has basically just stayed if that makes sense?
I don’t know what amniotic fluid smells like but I’ve noticed my normal discharge smells way stronger now and is staining my knickers more (sorry TMI) so maybe that’s what you smelt?
I have a small pillow at the moment it’s like two pillows that go either side, but it moves around in the night which annoys me lol

Xwx1010 · 05/06/2025 18:40

@captainsmal ah yeah i tried a similar one to yours by the sound of it too, was too roomy!
well a google tells me it smells very distinct, if you recognise you’re usual smell its quite obvious it’s not that. Some people say it has a sweet or bleach smell. Pretty sure I was just being paranoid but keeping an eye on it. Usually there is quite an obvious leak of fluid too which I didn’t have. X

OP posts:
captainsmal · 05/06/2025 19:14

@Xwx1010 makes sense. Mine smells the same as before just stronger now I think? Or maybe it’s the sensitive pregnancy nose now lol cos I can smell everything!
yeah my pillow is too roomy the gap between the two sides but I think it’ll be good when my bumps bigger, at the moment I have to keep wedging it under my back at night and rearranging myself every time I get up to pee in the night 😂 which is lots lol

LincolnshireHollyhock · 06/06/2025 21:28

Hope everyone is doing okay xx

Xwx1010 · 07/06/2025 08:01

Has anyone else head like a heaviness low down - more vagina than uterus? Had it all yday and still today xx

OP posts:
captainsmal · 07/06/2025 08:23

@Xwx1010 I’m not sure if it’s uterus or vagina or just the general area but I have definitely had like a heavy feeling, like I’m feeling the extra weight pressing down on me now! And when I’m at work if I have to bend over or lean forwards it’s almost like I can feel the weight of my bump getting in my way now, same when I try and cross my legs when I’m sitting down now. My husband said I waddle now 😂 so I think I’m definitely noticing the heavy feeling more.
Tbh I feel like my bump is enormous for 14 weeks and for a first pregnancy, which is weird if my baby is still measuring small. Maybe cos I have the forward tilted uterus? I know a lot of it is still bloating too

Sorry double posted there for some reason!

Alexm06 · 08/06/2025 19:40

Hey! I know some of you guys are a bit ahead of me. I was just wondering when you stopped your progesterone? I’m due to stop at 12 weeks which is a week tomorrow and not sure if I should wean it out this week or just stop cold turkey. The clinic haven’t really given me much information about it just gave me enough cyclogest until then

Xwx1010 · 08/06/2025 20:24

@Alexm06 hi 👋 i wasn’t given much advice either but was told stopping cold turkey was fine. However I had some 200 doses as opposed to 400 so tailed off for by choice for the last few days. I stopped at 16w but bled throughout due to sch etc.

OP posts:
Ivf4203 · 08/06/2025 20:30

@Alexm06 I’m not there yet but my clinic said I can stop cold turkey at 12 weeks. I thought I over ordered cyclogest so asked if I can continue for a few extra days which they said is also fine. Turns out I only have just enough until 12 weeks anyway!
