BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@LincolnshireHollyhock aww that’s so cute! Mine is sucking it’s thumb in one of my scan pics 😭😭😍😍
amazing the difference between 7 and 12 isn’t it!

Charmofgoldfinch · 21/05/2025 17:26

@Xwx1010 and @LincolnshireHollyhock - really nice to hear your scans went well! Hope you both got some good print outs. Our babies are going to have albums before they are born after all these scans and if you got a photo at embryo transfer too!

Ivf4203 · 22/05/2025 08:32

Great news @Xwx1010 and @LincolnshireHollyhock really pleased your scans went well.

May I ask you ladies who are much far ahead than me, did you ever have period like cramps in the early weeks? I know mild cramps/stretching sensations are very normal and I had those occasionally since my bfp. However last night for the first time I felt cramps which were exactly like my pre-period cramps. I was so scared period was coming but I had no bleeding or anything. It wasn’t continuous but I got concerned because it was the very same intensity as when I will be getting my period. I’m 6+3 today. My first scan is early next week.

Charmofgoldfinch · 22/05/2025 08:52

@Ivf4203 - I’ve had period style cramps - around 6-8 weeks I think. Also felt like the ones I had before I would start - lower back and top of thighs. They’d come and go and last for an hour or so (usually on an evening too). My clinic said it’s normal but if you are worried then give your clinic a ring?

Ivf4203 · 22/05/2025 11:20

Thanks @Charmofgoldfinch . My clinic said this is considered common with all the changes my body is going through but to let them know if it becomes continuous/localised to one side/ accompanied by bleeding.

captainsmal · 22/05/2025 16:00

@Ivf4203 I had horrendous cramps around 3-4 weeks, like worse than my period cramps which I think must have been implantation! Then after that it was more like normal period cramps or lots of twinges etc, I still get them every now and then after 12 weeks. I think it’s just stretching pains and everything moving around to make space for the baby

Ivf4203 · 23/05/2025 11:49

Thanks @captainsmal . Good to know it’s quite common. It’s my first ever pregnancy so I tend to overanalyse every single sensation!

I think i’ve started with the nausea this morning also although quite mild so I’m grateful. I have no appetite at all but managed to eat nissin noodles just now. It is not the healthiest but I just wanted to get something in!

captainsmal · 23/05/2025 14:51

@Ivf4203 same here, I was non stop googling everything for at least the first 8 weeks! Still do now but I’m not quite as bad 😅 I had awful nausea but never actually threw up in the first trimester, I found salty stuff helped for some reason lol

Xwx1010 · 23/05/2025 20:47

well guys as ever, after good news in the week I had another stressful day today! Nearly 16w and Had a gush of red going the toilet and spent the day in hospital being checked. Had a pretty horrendous cervical exam and finally got a scan - baby ok. They’ve no idea what caused it today but think my fibroid may be degenerating. Anyway just wanted to share incase anyone has similar and hopefully it can provide a little reassurance xx

Hope everyone else is ok and enjoys the bank holiday.

ps @Ivf4203 i have cramps daily, mild compared to my period ones which are off the scale but they’re pretty normal as far as I’m aware. Just stretching etc

captainsmal · 23/05/2025 21:37

@Xwx1010 good thanks just got sore feet/leg cramps from being back at work! Dread to think how knackered I’ll be when I’m nearing maternity leave lol

Charmofgoldfinch · 23/05/2025 21:44

Oh @Xwx1010 - I’m so sorry to hear about that. Seeing that red blood must have been awful. Glad you and baby are both okay- early night tonight x

Oh @Xwx1010 I'm sorry to hear about your horrendous scare!!! I also have a big fibroid and I've been expecting fibroid degeneration myself but the very thought of it is terrifying. Do you get any sharp pains from your fibroid? Sometimes if I move or get up too quickly, mine gives me a sharp stabbing pain.

I'm so happy that baby is ok! I can't imagine the fear you must have felt. Take it easy xxx

Xwx1010 · 24/05/2025 16:14

Thank you all, I’m barred from anything strenuous and I might take some time from work too, although it’s sedentary anyway I need the mental break I think.

@captainsmal do work have a plan for you when you start to get bigger an more uncomfortable in such a physical job?

@BellaRosex sometimes I get sharp pains yes but doesn’t last for long at all, and only a handful of times. I do have frequent mild cramping but always assumed it was progesterone / bloating / constipation / stretching related - could be fibroid irritation .
i don’t believe degeneration is risky to the pregnancy or baby just more uncomfortable/pain/bleeding which then often leads to panic if baby is ok.

I’ve already had people advising my consultant may advise a planned section due to ivf/age/bleeding/fibroid issues. I had never even considered that for some reason, always see having a vaginal birth! I’m seeing consultant in 2 weeks so I’ll be making the most of that appointment with lots of qs x

coming off progesterone this week too - I won’t miss those bum bullets that’s for sure x

captainsmal · 24/05/2025 16:19

@Xwx1010 yeah I had a risk assessment and I’ll refresh it every 4 weeks now. I’ve stopped doing lifting, ladders etc already it’s more just being on my feet all day now! They said I can have a stool later on and hide out the back and do my work sitting down

let us know what the consultant says, I’ve got one in July too for my health problems and they said I might be induced at 37 weeks but haven’t mentioned c sections

omg I was so happy stopping progesterone 😂

Xwx1010 · 24/05/2025 16:26

@captainsmal maybe you can take a lil camping chair in 😅 a stool sounds uncomfortable!!! I’m such a potato I don’t know how you do it!

I’ll keep you posted on what they say, I’m actually wanting to avoid being induced if at all possible, I’m scared of the pain! Xx

OP posts:
captainsmal · 24/05/2025 16:29

@Xwx1010 thats my thoughts too because apparently the stuff they induce you with makes contractions stronger/worse 🫣 I guess I’ll find out in July lol

VeryConfuzzled · 25/05/2025 03:47

Just catching up on the thread. Just found out some not so good news during my recent scan when I should be measuring at least 11+4 but I’m still at 8+4 so I’ll be leaving this thread now. I have been offered another scan as apparently abdominal scans aren’t too accurate but I don’t have high hopes as the colour doppler is meant to be accurate. The doctor believes there is a strong likelihood that the growth stopped after my last scan when they were was strong cardiac activity and everything looked promising. But I’ll be monitored for the next two weeks before we can take the final steps. Best of luck everyone and I wish you all the very best 💐.

Xwx1010 · 25/05/2025 07:24

i won’t tag you VC but if you do read this I’m so so sorry for everything you’re going through and this heartbreaking news. Thinking of you and praying you get different news at the next scan. X
