BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@PrincessofLiechtenstein yeah not til 30th May so almost 3 weeks really 😅 I know I’ve already seen the baby at 7wks and everything but I just worry so much. Glad your scan went okay!

It’s crazy how different areas in the UK are - my 12 week scan is happening at 11 weeks 6 days. You’d think it would be universal.

glad your scan went well @PrincessofLiechtenstein - due date still the same?

captainsmal · 12/05/2025 16:25

@LincolnshireHollyhock yeah I think it does say it can be between 10-14 weeks, obviously for non IVF pregnancies someone might not know exactly how far along they are so it’s a bit of a wide margin I guess, but obviously with us we know our exact dates lol

Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 16:29

@PrincessofLiechtenstein amazing news! It’s so lovely seeing them moving around isn’t it!
I got my results back today - 1 in 1380 for downs and 1 in 1500 for Edward’s and pateau
I’m 38 too.

I’ve got a private scan next week - with my nausea going and not really having a bump I’m starting to doubt alls ok. Which is ridiculous but hopefully get some reassurance next week x

@Xwx1010 hopefully the nausea is just going because the placenta has fully taken over?

Edited

Are those test results below/above average?

Don’t worry about the bump - it’s harder for us to notice our own bodies also. I don’t think I’ve really changed apart from my belly button seems to becoming an outie 😅..

Yeh that makes sense the time frame @captainsmal - how are you feeling symptom wise?

captainsmal · 12/05/2025 16:40

@LincolnshireHollyhock my main most consistent one is sore boobs and little stabby pains in my boobs, some nausea mainly when I’m hungry, and lots of odd little twinges and things around my uterus which I guess are stretching pains. And I haven’t properly pooped since I got pregnant tbh! 🙄 definitely feel like the nausea and tiredness are easing up now I’m almost out of this first trimester though so hopefully I get this burst of energy they go on about in the second trimester 😂

Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 16:46

@LincolnshireHollyhock Well 150 is the concern level and the test maxes out at 1500. So I couldn’t have had better results really at a 1 in 1500 and 1
in 1380…I don’t know about averages but would say given my age they’re well above average.

Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 16:48

Definitely got more energy although if I do a lot I do need that nap!
nausea comes and goes but mostly non-existent now and food aversions settling.
just in that no man’s land of, can’t see or feel baby so is this real/is all still ok/progressing x

OP posts:
Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 16:53

*sorry - typo - test maxes at 15,000 not 1500! But we’re still really happy with those results!

@Xwx1010 yeah I’m definitely in that limbo too where it’s like, don’t have a bump yet or feel anything so what’s happening! Sometimes I sit and poke my boobs just to make sure they still hurt 🤣

I still have the ivf bloat really badly so I look about 5/6 months but haven’t noticed anything real yet- maybe the area over my bladder feels slightly firmer now? I’m hoping it’ll start showing up soon just to reassure me a bit before this scan lol

Charmofgoldfinch · 12/05/2025 18:37

Awww glad your scan went well @PrincessofLiechtenstein - must be so nice to see the baby moving about!

good news about your results @Xwx1010 and that your nausea has settled down too.

@captainsmal - re: the lack of💩- have you tried lactulose? The pessaries have made me constipated and clinic prescribed me that as it’s preggo safe. You can buy it from boots etc. I will warn you it is absolutely gross but does the job! Use a syringe to avoid the taste!

im also in the lack of symptoms club. Obviously very grateful to not have morning sickness, but would like to feel a bit more preg apart from the occasional naps. I guess there is nothing we can do but wait till our scans. I have a 9 week scan next week and can’t wait! First midwife appointment tomorrow.

captainsmal · 12/05/2025 18:39

@Charmofgoldfinch I had fybogel which tastes disgusting but helped maybe a little bit, been warned lactulose may cause more cramping so tried to stay away so been trying like apple juice and different foods instead lol 😂

Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 18:47

@captainsmal team fybrogel over movicol (tases like cystitis sachets!)

I do this! My husband has to tell me off as we'll be out in public and suddenly I'll take an urge to check my boobs 🤣

I'm right there with you. It's an anxiety inducing time but just know that it's normal and you're not alone!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 12/05/2025 20:12

That’s so frustrating @captainsmalbut at least it will reduce the waiting for your next scan a bit if you can book it at exactly 20 weeks. Today was 11+6 for me as well so I’ve got in early but now it seems like a long wait!

My due date didn’t change @LincolnshireHollyhockalthough the baby is measuring 12+4 as they said they don’t change the dates for IVF babies at my clinic so still 25th November.

@Xwx1010great news on your screening results. It’s so nice to hear things are looking good isn’t it. Totally understand about the extra scan. It’s so hard to trust things are all ok. Will that be 15 weeks for you?

My nausea is definitely improving although not totally gone. I also have to confess to poking my boobs a lot to see if they hurt. Glad to know I’m not alone 😂

captainsmal · 12/05/2025 20:17

@PrincessofLiechtenstein that’s true! We’re actually gonna pay for a 15/16 week private gender scan so it’ll only be 2 or 3 weeks later lol

Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 20:33

@PrincessofLiechtenstein so glad your scan went well, how are you feeling now? yes I’ll be 15+4, I wanted the week after but no appointments so it’ll be a 4 week wait for the 20 but it is what it is. How funny the sonographer changed mine despite ivf date! I was the 11/11 now 8/11.

I’m eating like a termite now, need to watch my weight I’ve put on 5lb already since embryo transfer!

@BellaRosex thank you lovely. My partner and mum say I definitely have a bump, but I feel like it’s just an ‘I’ve eaten too much’ bump 😂 wish I’d taken a pic before starting stims!
how are you doing??

@Charmofgoldfinch thank you, what day is your scan on next week? I’m trying to make sure I’m going for a no2 at least a few times a week - definitely try a gentle laxative (+wheetabix for me) if you are not - I was late dealing with mine and was very painful!

Hi all and thanks @Xwx1010 for signposting me here from the pregnancy forum. I was in tears reading this thread as I was so happy many of you were surpassing all those important milestones. I am currently 5+1 and a ball of nerves. I’m actually having my first counselling therapy session today. I hope it will help with my anxiety somehow. My nurse booked my first scan fot next week when I’ll be 6+3. Can I ask when you had your first scan? Would you suggest I postpone it to 7 weeks so that it is a bit more conclusive?

Charmofgoldfinch · 13/05/2025 12:32

Congratulations @Ivf4203 !
I had my scan at 6 weeks (after confirming preg by blood test at 4 weeks). I found it really reassuring to see the baby, check it’s in the right place etc. You can see the heartbeat too.

Ivf4203 · 13/05/2025 12:38

@Charmofgoldfinch thank you and so pleased for you. This is a silly question but can i check I am counting correctly? My transfer was 26th April and tested positive on 5th May (confirmed by blood test also) - am I right to think I was 4 weeks on 5th May? It was a fresh 5 day blast which was retrieved on 21st April.

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 13/05/2025 13:19

congratulations @Ivf4203 and welcome to the thread. This calculator suggests that you are 5 weeks. You need to add two weeks to your collection date I think.

https://www.whattoexpect.com/due-date-calculator/result/january-12/?source=ivf

I had a 7 week scan and that was reassuring. I tried to hold off going too early as I was worried they wouldn’t see anything.

BellaRosex · 13/05/2025 13:35

15w6d here and my symptoms feel like they've vanished almost overnight.... nausea and food aversions. I've read online it's normal around this time but I'm naturally freaking out! Can anyone shed any light on their own experiences with vanishing symptoms?

It happened to me once before (first trimester) and it was a MMC so I'm overthinking like crazy

Xwx1010 · 13/05/2025 13:43

@BellaRosex it’s happened to me loads and then things just creep back or I have a sickly day. Everything has definitely dropped in intensity recently but I have full days now of not feeling pregnant at all which is unnerving.
Today: my boobs are big but not sore, no back pain or nausea and could eat anything really. Few days back it was back to beige, one day I had lots of discomfort and back pain, nothing since. It’s like a merry go round but the 2nd trimester is meant to be better so it’s to be expected.

@Ivf4203 welcome! My dating: egg collection as ‘ovulation date’ but pregnancy dating from last period before this. I’m regular though so may not be the same if your cycles are less so. personally I’d keep the 6+3 - should see heartbeat then but could be a few days out so just prepare. I didn’t see one at 5+6 but did at 6+3 so a few days do make a big difference.
